DO NOT STAY HERE. Seriously. This was one of the worst hostel experiences we’ve had. The only redeeming thing was one German staff member who was kind and helpful — everyone else was rude, dismissive, and clearly couldn’t care less about guests. Es bietet viele Aktivitäten an. Der Wasserspender wird selten nachgefüllt. Das Personal hat untereinander spaß, zeigen aber keine Interesse oder sogar Abneigung gegenüber den Gästen. Der 10er Dom besitzt einen AC, der aber nur 2h am Tag läuft, damit die anderen Räume AC haben. Außerdem sind dort Flecken an der Decke, die nach Schimmel aussehen. Das Zimmer entspricht nicht den Bildern. Der Pool ist viel kleiner als auf den Bildern & warm. Im 2. Stock ist eine Baustelle die den ganzen Tag ...

It’s a nice place to stay right on the beach with a pool, but not the most social place ever. There were many bugs in the room and the AC broke down in the middle of the night for 2 hours (not the hostel’s fault of course but certainly not ideal when you pay extra for an air conditioned room). Kind staff though and a nice vibe, but 2 nights was more than enough

The hostel has good potential but needs improvement. Check-in felt impersonal, only cash payment and one night a drunk volunteer disturbed guests. AC issues were fixed quickly, which was positive. The beach is small and not well maintained, and the bar offers no food or drinks. It feels unfinished, but with better staff care, volunteer selection, and small upgrades, it could become a really nice place to stay.

Nette Unterkunft in Mirissa, allerdings wirkt der Gastgeber wenig präsent, was das ganze Hostel garnicht social macht.

The hostel has a lot of potential! Unfortunately the sight does not have good power and the air conditioning cut out all night making it extremely uncomfortable to sleep as it was so hot. The bathroom was run down and there is a large gap on the door so not much privacy! Can’t fault the reps, they were lovely and helpful! I think with some TLC and attention to detail, this hostel will be great in time to come!

Sieht alles auf den ersten Blick schön aus, aber es gibt wirklich gar keinen bequemen Sitzmöglichkeiten, tagsüber ist nichts los im Hostel, es gibt keine Hostelbar o.Ä. - man kann nicht mal Wasser kaufen.. hat Potential noch gemütlicher zu werden, aber ja, war enttäuscht.. + alles auch sehr eng, auf sehr engem Raum und halt wirklich viel zu wenig Toiletten und Duschen (jeweils nur eine am Zimmer dran - null Privatsphäre)

Schönes Hostel, aber der Vibe wurde immer komischer. Es ist zwar sozial aber irgendwie auch unter einem gewissen Zwang. Ruhige Lage und moderne Ausstattung jedoch sind die Betten eher unbequem (kurz, dünne Matraze und zu heiß.) Es werden jeden Abend Partys angeworben, auch teils mit Lügen (wie dass sich extrem viele Leite schon angemeldet haben und letzendlich waren 20 dort. Insgesamt hatte ich einen angenehmen Aufenthalt aber auch parallel ein komisches Gefühl

The owner wasn't particularly friendly and didn't really care about the guests, which created a strange atmosphere. The volunteers were able to compensate for this a little, but there is still a lot to do before a pleasant atmosphere can be created. Still under construction.

Tolles Hoste!! Würde definitiv wieder kommen. Das Personal und die Volunteers waren sehr bemüht und freundlich. Hatte ein paar Probleme und Fragen aber sie haben mir gut weiter geholfen. Es wurden viele Aktivitäten tagsüber und auch am Abend angeboten.

I stayed at Papaya Beach for a few days and I really enjoyed my time there. The room was very clean with a beautiful view, and the hostel’s location was amazing. I hope my travels bring me back to Sri Lanka again so I can stay here once more. 🌴🌸

Papaya beach es uno de los mejores hosteles en los que he estado. Sin duda, el lugar es espectacular, principalmente por su localización ya que está enfrente de la playa. El entorno es muy agradable, no sólo por el lugar, sino porque Gp, uno de los dueños, fue sumamente amable y acogedor. Además siempre estuvo dispuesto a ayudar con cualquier cosa. Such an amazing hostel, i loved my stay here. Its very social, with lots of events and offered activities. This is my second stay here cause i love it so much. Its also very quuet at night cause its not directly beside tge street but you can still reach everywhere through walking. I already miss it and will definetly come back.

lovely staff, social atmosphere in the evenings, not much space in the room, it is still being built but no construction noise while i was there.

Really loved my stay here. The vibe was super friendly and it was easy to meet people, but still chill when you wanted to relax. Staff were lovely and helpful, rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The common areas were great for hanging out, and the location was perfect, right on the beach, close to the main town but away from the noise of the road making it a very peaceful atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

Owner was an absolute gem and lovely to be around. Showed us all the good places to go and got everyone involved with the social aspect of the hostel

Un lugar muy guay para pasar unos días en mirissa. El ambiente en el hostel es muy tranquilo y a la vez ofrecen un montón de opciones de ocio y fiesta para quien quiera. Está en una ubicación perfecta. Justo enfrente de una playa para ver el atardecer , y a 10 min andando de mirissa beach. Todo muy limpio y nuevo. 100% recomendado

I originally planned to stay at Papaya Beach for three days but it turned into two weeks which already says a lot about the vibe.The hostel is right on the beach, with beautiful sunsets every evening. Everything is clean and well taken care of. The atmosphere is very laid-back with many activities, so it never gets boring. The staff are incredibly friendly and always helpful, and the owner makes sure everyone feels welcome.

Its a beautuful property with beach access and a pool. The dorm was spacious and bed was comfortable. Although im not sure if the dorm or bathroom was cleaned, it was sticky and sandy. I didn't join any social activities so can't review that aspect! Overall a good hostel

Friendly staff who greeted us when we arrived and helped us out with anything. The pool was tiny and very warm, just FYI. They have bar crawls most nights you can go to and the hostel seemed pretty lively and full of people. There’s a small common area where you can hangout or eat outside. My bed had a huge dip in the middle. Wifi wasn’t great but most of Sri Lanka doesn’t have good wifi. It would be nice if there was a sign reminding people to keep the door closed as I got eaten by mosqui...

Hostel très sympa. Très petit et la piscine est minuscule mais ça reste cozy et un bon endroit pour faire des rencontres grâce au groupe whatsapp hyper social.

Das Hostel ist toll. Der Vibe um das Hostel herum ist sehr entspannt. Es wurden viele Aktivitäten angeboten, wie Yoga, Surfen oder auch Bootpartys. Also war für jeden was dabei. Mein Highlight war das Family Dinner und Open Mic, was perfekt war zum socializen. Die Volunteers und der Manager Jazz waren sehr herzlich und hatten hilfreiche Tips für mich. Leider muss ich aber sagen, dass die zwei Besitzer teilweise komisch zu manchen Mädchen waren weshalb ich mich manchmal bisschen unwohl fühlt...

I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels, but Papaya Beach Hostel in Sri Lanka was something special. The place is incredibly calm and beautiful — easily one of the best spots I’ve experienced. The sunsets there are unreal… probably some of the best I’ve ever seen. 🌅 What really made the stay memorable were the people — Shaaz, GP, and all the volunteers were amazing. Super warm, welcoming, and always making sure everyone was engaged and having a good time. I’d 100% recommend this hostel ...

Very nice hostel, great volunteers and staff! Booked the non ac room during a heat wave so I only have my self to blame 😅 But overall very nice! Family dinner was so cozy also! And the neighbors dog Ruby was so cute🥰
