Hostel is ok, volunteers are very friendly and helpful. Good amount of activities on offer. There is no water filter, mattresses are very very thin and dusty, curtain rods are not attached properly and often fall down. Kitchen space is offered but was dirty and small fridge is always full.
Das Hostel Zimmer war einfach nur stickig und eklig (8er Damen Dorm) der Ventilator bringt da auch nicht mehr viel. Also wer eine Nacht mit Stechmücken, schwitzen und schlechter Luft möchte ist hier richtig. Im Badezimmer ging eine Dusche nicht, die andere hatte leider nicht zum Kleider aufhängen und die dritte funktionierte dann wenigstens. Leider nicht zu empfehlen.
The hostel room was just stuffy and gross (8er Lamen Dorm) the Ventilator doesn't bring much anymore either. Also who wants eine Nacht mit Stechmücken, Schwitzen and schlechtere Luft is right here. In the bathroom one shower didn't go, the other one unfortunately hadn't hung on the dresser and the third one worked then at least. unfortunately not recommended.
Das Hostel ist sehr einfach gehalten. Jedes Bett hat einen eigenen Fan, was super ist. Die Bäder sind nicht wirklich sauber. Ich habe das Hostel als nicht wirklich social wahrhenommen. Es vat viele Leute dort, die mehrere Wochen bleiben.
The hostel is kept very simple. each bed has its own fan, which is great. the bathrooms are not really clean. i have perceived the hostel as not really social. there are a lot of people there who stay for several weeks.
The volunteers were really nice and created a good social atmosphere to meet people. Taco Tuesday was great. Quite basic though, no free water or towel. It was cash only and the reception didn’t even have $400R change when I first arrived.
Ich werde nie wieder eine Unterkunft ohne Klimaanlage buchen. Trotz Ventilatoren stand die Luft sehr in den Zimmern. Die Luft war feucht warm und es hat nach Schweiß und Muffel gestunken. Selbst nach langem stoßlüften wurde die Luft nicht besser. Wir waren im 8 Zimmer und die Betten waren auch sehr unbequem. Lage ist zwar nah an der Bahnstation aber weit weg vom Ortskern. Es wird auch kein Frühstück oder Ähnliches angeboten und es ist auch nichts fussläufig zu erreichen. Würde nicht wied...
I will never book an accommodation without air conditioning again. Despite fans the air was very warm in the rooms. The air was very humid and smelled of sweat and muffles. Even after a long ventilation the air did not get better. We were in 8 rooms and the beds were also very uncomfortable. Location is close to the train station but far from the Ortskern. There is also no breakfast or similar offered and there is nothing to reach by foot. Would not come back again
Ich habe in dem 8er Damenzimmer geschlafen wenn man das so nennen kann. Es hat sich so angefühlt als ob man in einem feuchten Keller schläft, die Luft war super stickig (trotz Lüften) und man hat den Schimmel schon gerochen also echt unerträglich. Zudem noch keine AC und die Ventilatoren haben auch keinen guten Job gemacht. Die Badezimmer waren auch sehr unordentlich, da jeder sein persönliches Zeug liegen gelassen hat. Die Allgemeinräume waren ganz gemütlich und der staff war auch nett.
I slept in the 8th ladies room if you can call it that. it felt like you were sleeping in a damp basement, the air was super sticky (despite the air) and you had smelled the fungus so unbearable. also no air conditioning and the fans didn't do a good job either. the bathrooms were also very messy, as everyone had left their personal stuff lying around. the common rooms were very cozy and the staff was also nice.
the rooms were so unbelievably hot - the fan does nothing at all to help. the toilets are very run down. only one shower was working properly, some days it was only pumping out only hottt water with no way to turn it cold. staff were nice but there was zero atmosphere.
Der Host war wirklich super nett aber die “Volunteers“ leider ziemlich unmotiviert und teils unfreundlich. Die Luft stand sehr in den Schlafräumen und es war enorm heiß. Das Badezimmer ist leider in die Jahre gekommen und die Duschen waren nicht sauber. Wenn man alleine reist findet man hier auf jeden Fall Kontakte, da das Hostel jeden Tag eine coole Aktion anbietet.
The host was really super nice but the Volunteers unfortunately quite unmotivated and partly unfriendly. the air was very stiff in the bedrooms and it was extremely hot. the bathroom unfortunately has come of age and the showers were not clean. if you travel alone you will definitely find contacts here, as the hostel offers a cool action every day.
Really disappointing. The hostel makes lots of effort to bring people together with shared activities which is a huge plus. But the facilities are awful. No a/c, no bed sheets or privacy curtains so you have to sleep half naked due to the heat with nothing to cover yourself. The beds themselves were uncomfortable and filthy. Bathrooms were in an even worse state with no soap. Location is poor with a 20 min walk to the beach but luckily right next to the train station for a swift exit.

Great hostel with a super convenient location, especially for backpackers traveling around Sri Lanka. The bus and train stations are very close, making it easy to move around and explore different places. The atmosphere is really welcoming and social, and there are always nice activities to join like yoga, dinners, pool chill time, and events with other travelers. A perfect place to meet people and enjoy the journey.
One of the most cool and chill places I have had the opportunity to stay in entire Srilanka. Read a previous review that complained about some stuff but my experience was honestly pretty good. Beds were super clean and comfy. Pool was awesome with running water all the time. The dorms were airy, clean, and comfortable in all ways. Awesome hostel! Friendly staff and very homely vibes. Made friends within an hour. Close to the beach (5 min with tuktuk or 25 min walk) Has a pool! Property was clean, multiple showers and toilets available Also kitchen available everything was kept clean and tidy! There is a few supermarket and some small local shops very nearby. - 70m from the unawatuna railway station 10/10 would recommend for good vibes : ) Organized group activities feels like a big cozy family ❤️
My favourite hostel I’ve stayed in! Everyone who stays here is treated like family & there are great social events happening each day. It can get hot, but there is a pool and fans around that do help to cool down! The beds are also comfy. A lot of appreciation to the staff, and I’ll be sure to come back again
Nice social hostel. They organise activities everyday like surfing and yoga. It’s a little way out of the town but tuktuks are available. The rooms are very hot without A/C but the beds have fans

Loved this place so much. Perfect for solo travelers everyday there are events going on. Super clean and the people working there are so nice and welcoming. Extend my stay to a total of 2 weeks and hopefully be back someday soon.
I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. It is close to the mainroad with many good local restaurants. It is also right around the corner of the train station. To go to the beach you have to take a Tuktuk. The outside area is really cool with a swimming pool and a small kitchen area. The dorm rooms were okay, however it was smelling very moldy all the time which was bot so nice. There is no A/C in the room however each bad has a little fan. Cool activities are offered daily.
I liked my stay there! Morning yoga was included and they organize social events. The staff was super friendly.
A beautiful hostel with a fun and social atmosphere, lots of activities and daily surf sessions. Also nice clean rooms and good location, I can recommend staying here 😁
Really great place, super easy to meet people, would really recommend staying here as a solo traveler! In a very quiet and chill area, perfect location if you wanna stay a bit further away from the crazy streets. Thank you Lucky and the awesome volunteers, I’ll be back!
Pretty nice hostel, cute social area and friendly staff and volunteers. However I found the dorm uncomfortably hot and quite loud even with earplugs in, no AC and small fan above each bed which is fine when you’re in bed but not ideal if you’re just in the dorm. Apart from that they have nice social activities every day which is great and the pool is nice.
Location, staff and hostel cafe were great however, the no aircon and mosquito situation was not pleasant
The room I was in felt damp and had some mould on the walls. Staff helpful and friendly and there is organised social events. Location is bit further out of centre.
It was social with many activities, which was very good! But it was far from unawatuna center, not a good kitchen for cocking food, and not so clean toilets. The beds were not comfortable.
This place have really nice vibe. Many activities. The staff members are nice and they help with you anything. Morning yoga is good and sunset surfing. Would love to come back for sure.
