Bua Guest House

+ - When I checked out in the morning and was looking forward to the new accommodation.

- - No sleep The Bua Guest House has 2 houses. The deluxe double room is in a very noisy wooden house that is right on a noisy street. I couldn't sleep because of the loud traffic (scooter with broken exhaust). From 4am the chickens were very loud. At 5 a.m. the noisy mosque could be heard clearly. Because of the wooden walls you can hear everything your neighbors say or do. If you want to sleep at night, you should not reserve the deluxe double room. The standard room with king size bed is in the other house about 50 - 70m away which is quieter and made of stone. - Problems with stomach They gave me one dinner and one breakfast From the afternoon and especially the next day I had severe diarrhea. - The airport shuttle didn't work. When I arrived at the airport, there was no taxi driver waiting for me. An extremely helpful lady at the airport then called the Bua Guest House. The taxi driver from the Bua Guest House showed up at the airport about 30 minutes later. He said, "sorry for the traffic". He didn't say that he couldn't find me. He knew me from my first night at the Bua Guest House. That means the driver hadn't been at the airport since my plane landed. - Breakfast was little and nothing special Booking.com says "Exceptional breakfast included". This is wrong. - The mattress is on the floor. - In the evening, the WiFi was slow. - They didn't have drinking water. - Booking.com says "The double room provides air conditioning, a washing machine, ..." There was no washing machine in my room. It isn't visible in the pictures either. - Booking.com says balcony and minibar. My room had no balcony and no minibar either. - Booking.com says "Facilities: refrigerator" There is no refrigerator visible in the pictures and I don't remember there being a refrigerator in the room.

+ - Good transport to Bukit Lawang in a good car

- - Loud music all day My standard room with a king size bed was on the first floor. I checked out at 2pm. From 9am to 2pm there was non-stop very loud music from the neighboring house with a few minutes break when the mosque was very loud at noon. - Noisy early in the morning From 4am the chickens were very loud and by 5am the mosque could be clearly heard. - The mattress is on the floor. - In the evening, the WiFi was slow. - Booking.com says "The double room provides air conditioning, a washing machine, ..." There was no washing machine in my room. It is not shown in the pictures either. - Booking.com says balcony and minibar. In your own kitchen" My room didn't have a private kitchen. - Don't book the Deluxe Double Room if you want to sleep at night. The Bua Guest House has 2 houses. If you want to sleep at night, you should not book the Deluxe Double Room. The Standard King Room in this review is in the other house about 50 - 70m away which is quieter and is made of stone.

+ The host was really nice and could speak English. I arrived late coming from bukit lawang and they waited for me which was really nice. A/c was nice.

- Because I arrived late, I was given the downstairs room at the outside area. Past midnight there was a cat meowing and scratching at the door loudly to be let in. Then in the morning all these bugs had tried to enter through the bottom of the door and ended up dying in my room. It was so disgusting I asked the staff to clean it up in the morning which they did. It was alarming to wake up to a floor full of bugs when the bed also sits on the floor. There was also a big cockroach in the bathroom when I arrived and the bedding was dirty. Also it's not very close to the airport maybe like 30-40min drive. The other guests staying upstairs didn't have bug issues so if you do stay here, request an upstairs room. The downstairs rooms should be retired, they are not fit for use.

- Zařídili odvoz z letiště, který byl o dost dražší než grap atd (vlastní rodinou) po jízdě jsme zaplatili a nechali něco navíc a druhý den majitelka vyžadovala částku za odvoz znovu.

+ Als je een goedkope plek zoekt in de buurt van Medan ivm het vliegveld, wat groener en rustiger, is dit best een optie. De eigenaresse is een schat. En vervoer door hen vanaf het vliegveld was ook top!! Ze zorgen ook op een later tijdstip, graag voor een maaltijd.

- Het zijn twee locaties vlakbij elkaar, waarvan wij op de B-locatie zaten. De eerste indruk was goed, ook hier is meer groen dan op de meeste andere plekken bij zo'n stad, maar de kamer viel tegen; klein, airco die niet optimaal werkte, plafondplaten die doorweekt waren.. dus spannend of we het bij de eerste stortbui droog zouden houden in bed (gelukkig wij wel!). En het meest vervelend was wel de onhygiënische badkamer, met lekkende WC-afvoer.. WC zat achter de douche, dus met douchen stond je in de viezigheid. We denken dat we pech hadden met de kamer door last-minute boeking.

+ L'emplacement proche de Medan (pour l'aéroport). Les petits chiots adorables. La restauration sur place.

- Par rapport à ce que nous avions imaginé, notre étape au Bua Guest House a été un peu décevante malheureusement. Les échanges avec la propriétaires ont été limités voire désagréables. Dommage ! Des draps auraient été appréciables, il n'y avait qu'une sorte de pled directement.

+ Snelle check inn. Douche was ok.

- Veel licht van buiten, gehorig. Ontbijt is basic.

+ Cosy place, comes with free breakfast! I stayed a night as the location is near the Amplas Bus Terminal and they were so kind to drop me off at the station the next morning. If you are up for a walk, you can find many little shops around selling basic items and also food. The area is pretty quiet.

+ Good value for money. Restaurant on-site had good food. Room was comfortable. Hot shower and air con worked well.

- Noise from nearby water park

+ Good, comfortable rooms and the staff is wonderful. Beautiful garden too.

- The shower in room 2 is "iffy". Either warm with very little water coming out, or a bit more water pressure but not warm.

+ Beautiful place, staff was very friendly! The owner also offered to sent us to the bus station and helped us finding a bus to our next destination ❤️

- There is a lot of noise from outside, so bring your earplugs

+ Super freundliches Personal und super nette Chefin!

+ Ich kann diese Unterkunft sehr empfehlen. Sie liegt etwas außerhalb von Medan und bietet daher sehr viel Ruhe und Natur. Die Unterkunft hat sehr nette und hilfsbereite Gastgeber (Rama) und steht bei Fragen jederzeit gerne zur Verfügung. Ich wurde vom Flughafen abgeholt und konnte auch meine Wäsche dort waschen lassen. Frühstück war auch lecker. :) Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und komfortabel.

+ Die Leute sind alle unheimlich nett, man fühlt sich direkt wohl dort ! Ich musste um 6 Uhr zum Airport losfahren (30min Fahrt) das wurde prompt organisiert (für 200k) und ich bekam sogar noch etwas Obst eingepackt .. Super lieb !!

- Die Lage ist seeeehr abseits. Für die eine Nacht ok, für länger wüsste ich nicht was ich den ganzen Tag machen soll .. Keine Lokale oder Geschäfte rundherum, nur Wohnhäuser, Brachgelände und Moscheen.

+ Only had 1 night here unfortunately but could already tell it is a Really nice vibe !! Rooms are simple but clean and cozy Located just outside the busier area which is what we wanted - 35 mins to airport Surrounding gardens and fresh produce are beautiful 😍 Lovely staff who I wish we had more time to spend with! Will definitely come back when in Medan again

- Nothing For tourists - noise is fine Don’t complain about the noise from the local mosque , animals etc and surrounding neighbourhood, this is outside of the accom control!! and honestly noise is not bad at all - just adds to the authentic feeling of a local area :) Would suggest some ear plugs if you are a lighter sleeper

+ A breath of air much needed in Medan. Lovely garden en the staff is most helpful and kind. It's a place you'll come back to.

- Some would say the location is a downside, but for me it is the upside to this guesthouse. Easy enough to get a Grab or have the guesthouse driver take you anywhere you want to go.

+ Sehr freundlicher Kontakt mit allen. Sehr familiäre Atmosphäre. Möglichkeit zum nachfüllen von Wasser. Das Omelett war besser als die Nudeln.

+ Everything was fantastic...nice room...lovely breakfast...the help given from the moment I arrived in the airport and my onward journey to Lake Toba was absolutely amazing. But the best thing (apart from the reasonable price!!)..was the host!!! I see you are such a lovely person wanting to help...thank you

+ I had the best time! The owner was so nice and helpful and the restaurant was delicious. I had such a nice relaxing time here before taking my plane. The room was spacious, with aircon and large comfortable bed.

+ Helpful staff and whatsapp communication We arrived late in the evening due to flight delay. And staff still cooked us a great meal (simple/ fast but sooo welcome!!) :-)

- That we arrived late and had to leave early in the morning again..... but it worked out like that for the best!

+ L’endroit, le décor et la gentillesse de la propriétaire .

- Le bruit des motos et chants des Imans . ́Ne pas penser s’y reposer, juste 1 nuit c’est ok

+ The guesthouse is in a semi rural area very near the city. Nice garden and fields in the ares. Away from the hustle of the city but easy walking to small shops and restaurants. Good breakfast with options. of what you want. Will stay here again and definitely recommend to other travelers

- Kitchen access could be better. There is a microwave and fridge with good access but not actual cooking area
