Strand Hostel, Hiriketiya Beach

The hostel is more suitable for short term stay but wouldn’t recommend for long term/co living as there is no communal kitchen or fridge. I wouldn’t recommend it for co working as the WiFi is very unstable. I know that the hostel is still new but there wasn’t much seating in the common areas. Additionally the bathroom was very outdated. I will say that the volunteers are so friendly and great but the hostel staff weren’t very accommodating as they were very strict which was a major drawb...

Really liked my stay! I wanted to give more of a realistic review, since I personally don’t go to hostels with 10/10 reviews, since I think it’s fake- but I really understand, why people give 10/10. Staff was really lovely, directly at the beach, beds super comfy and new, also they organise group activities every day so it’s easy to meet others. Just keep in mind, the hostel is veeeeery social, if you’re looking more for a chill stay without socialising all the time you might go somewher...

Had a lovely stay here! It’s just by the beach and the rooms are newly renovated. The staff and social hosts are amazing and they organise activities every day. Extended my stay since I loved it here so much, really recommend! ⭐️

Had the best time at Strand! Lovely volunteers were always willing to help. Super comfy beds and modern rooms. Perfect location right by the beach. Social vibes and easy to make friends as a solo traveler. Highly recommend!!

We had such a great stay at this hostel in Hiriketiya! The location couldn’t have been better, just a super short walk to the beach, which made it easy to go back and forth throughout the day. A special shoutout to the amazing social hosts Ebba, Kailey and Aina, who were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They really created a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Our absolute highlight was the movie night at Maha, it was such a cozy and memorable experience and a perfect way to meet other travelers...

The place is brand new, so everything is new and nice. Location is amazing, so close to the beach and restaurants. Social hosts are the best and planned the best night activities :)

stayed here 1 night and extended it out another couple of nights. shout out to ebba, she was amazing with her organisation. place is still very new, the common area could be better i reckon if you put a big seating area for people to play cards, similar to upstairs. Also chuck on a breakfest option like other barefoots. but still very new place, im sure its in their plan ! location is perfect for surfer's and beach lovers !

Such a lovely social hostel right by the beach!! It’s brand new so super clean and bright rooms. Shout out to Ebba and the other social hosts who really went out of their way to make me feel welcome and put on activities every night!! Really recommend it here :)

Great social hostel and super close to the beach! Ebba from Sweden was great, almost as good as ABBA from Sweden, but nobody is that great and we can’t fault her for that x

Great experience with a very social atmosphere and daily events filled with people. Everyone was super friendly, and each event was really well organized and enjoyable. Special shoutout to Ebba—she was very friendly and managed all the events really well. The common area was also great. Cons: No toiletries were provided. Would love to come back again ❤️
