The Social - Begadang Gili Air

J’ai découvert en arrivant dans la chambre que mon lit était par terre, coincé entre 2 « vrais » lits pour lesquels le prix était le même. Au-delà de ça, aucune intimité (pas de rideau), pas de rangement ni tablette ou lumière individuelles et la salle de bain n’était pas très propre, tout ça pour un prix élevé comparé à tous les autres hostels dans lesquels je suis restée.

Awful stay. WiFi didn’t work, pool was disgusting. Overpriced with not even a breakfast included. No bathroom ventilation: heat, humidity, and smells were unbearable. Triple bungalows are badly designed: no privacy upstairs, and the downstairs bed is by the door, so anyone sleeping there is woken by people using the bathroom. Our experience here was a bit of a mixed bag- the surroundings, pool, bar/restaurant and staff were fabulous. However, we booked the private hut for both nights and it was not good at all! There was a fan rather than aircon, and the mosquito net was full of holes and no replacements offered. We moved to a 2 bed dorm for the second night, which was much more comfortable (air con, nice shower etc) however when we checked in all the beds had been slept in and the room hadn't been cleaned.

Pros: Decently clean, friendly staff, good atmosphere and great pool and social area, also good events daily. Cons: didn’t love the setup of the 3 bdr rooms because the beds are really crammed into a tiny space in an unpleasant way, overpriced imo, bathrooms had no hooks or shelves, the beds had only sheets not blankets and the rooms weren’t cleaned daily. it

The outside area is definitely the best part about the hostel- nice place to socialise and relax, also have cards, board games and a nice pool. Staff nice enough. No privacy in the dorm rooms, all the beds right next to eachother and there was no locker to put your stuff in so have to leave things by your bed. They had a thumbprint system to get in and out of the rooms which was cool but didn’t work properly. WiFi was down the whole time. Laundry took 2 days to come back, were a lot of problem...

I stayed in a private room that was not clean (stuff on the ground, the sheets). In addition, the AC did not work properly (while they rent the rooms with specific reference to the AC, why you pay more). Staff indicated they would have a look, but turned out not to be of any help.

The hostel swimming pool and restaurant are great, but the restaurant is very expensive comparing to others restaurants in the area. You must have your padlock with you to close your room. The electrical wires are visibles and exposed which is a bit dangerous. Many activities are organized the evening (cinema, music etc). I found that great even if it can be a little bit noisy.

Begadang Hostel is a lovely place to get to know people. They have a big pool, good food and a very friendly and helpful staff. They also have a lot of events like open air movie night, which I really enjoyed. Just the hostel dorms were not really comfortable. The light on my bed was not bright enough, so you could barely see anything. There was no space to store anything and the space was very cramped in general. The bathroom was open air and when it rained, just everything was dirty and wet.

Super nice stay. Great pool and close to the ocean. Very sweet staff. My room wasn’t ready on time so I could borrow a bike for free. Really sweet of them. Taco Tuesday was good and breakfast is great

Really nice place to stay with a delicious buffet breakfast. It is kinda far from harbor so it’s no easy to go there walking with all of your bags but definitely worth it

The rooms were no as advertised instead of a bed with curtains I was put under the stairs lol Harry Potter . Everyone could stair down at me sleeping as they walked up the stairs .

Sehr soziales Hostel, ich habe mich sehr wohlgefühlt – die Leute sind offen und super lieb. Taconights waren das Highlight für mich! Die Dorms/„Wohnungen“ sind okay, es ist sauber, es kommt aber leider wenig Tageslicht und frische Luft nach oben, da nur ein kleines Fenster vorhanden ist was ständig verdeckt ist. Betten sind bequem. Großer Minuspunkt: Es gibt keine Locker! In einem Hostel ist das für mich persönlich ein Muss. Ansonsten tolles Hostel.

Ontbijtbuffet was een 10/10. Gezellige huisjes, eens wat anders dan grote hostelkamers. Niet heeeel sociaals maar wel genoeg mensen om mee te kletsen

Deze plek is fantastisch!! Gili Air is the place to be in Indonesië! De eiland vibe, met alle live muziek, leuke locals en schone, prachtige stranden is ronduit geweldig. Begadang is het perfecte hostel voor sociale connecties, ik heb hier de leukste mensen ontmoet en de week van mijn leven gehad! Het personeel en de eigenaar (James) zijn fantastisch. Er is zelfs een uitgebreid gratis buffet ontbijt en 2x per week een heerlijke taco night. Hier moet je 100% zijn geweest!

Many people choose to stay here because its the more subdued island and the hostel dorms and community grounds are like a resort your can relax in for a couple of days. Dorm was good with the aircon, warm shower, curtains and wifi. Enjoyed the big breakfast and taco night. About 15 minutes walk from boats. Make an effort to meet other guests

Top Hostel, Mega Social und einfach 10/10

It was a good hostel. I liked the fact that we lived in small houses, it felt homely. And the staff were sooo sweet

The hostels are very clean and the rooms are nice. I would say that the one bed down stairs doesn’t have any privacy at all. Staff were excellent. There is a mix group of people from family’s on holiday to travellers but overall an excellent place to stay

10/10 I enjoyed my stay so much, I extended an extra night! My bed and pillow were very comfortable. Great atmosphere if you want to be social and meet new people, but you don’t have to, as there is plenty of space to relax and recharge. Spent a whole day eating poolside and walked to the beach to enjoy the sunset. I’ll be back every time I go to Gili Air. Do note that it is a 15-minute walk to the center, but I never found that to be an issue.

the place is nice, very pleasant bar and pool area. but for the price, the room left a bit to be desired. it's as basic as it can be. shampoo and decent soap would be a good start, ambiant lighting or a reading lamp would be nice beside the bed and a bathroom floor that doesn't rip your feet apart would be neat as well.

Loved my stay here! Cute loft style rooms, comfortable beds, nice balconies, loads of working space. Nice pool and loads of lounge chairs. Taco night & movie nights were fantastic. Restaurant/bar was super handy. The free breakfast was my favourite part! Great selection and super tasty. The staff even helped me sort out my ferry when all boats got cancelled.

Great value for money, lovely cosy atmosphere in the evenings and fun bright atmosphere in the day. The mushroom pool is awesome and so much fun! The staff are so lovely and attentive. Really loved our stay and would absolutely stay here again. Thanks guys!

Really nice hostel! Had a bit of an issue where I was in a 4 bed dorm with just another couple. They had sex while I was there in the room. The staff moved me into a new dorm straight away in the morning with no questions asked. However, not a word was said to them & they ended up extending essentially, getting to keep the dorm to themselves. Obviously somethings are out of the staffs control but a bit frustrating how it was dealt with.
