Expérience vraiment désagréable. Ce n’est pas une auberge où il est possible de se reposer après une journée d’aventure sur l’île. Il avait de la musique forte et agressante à partir de 17h. On n’avait de la difficulté à se parler entre nous. On a essayé de communiquer avec eux plusieurs fois pour faire changer la musique et baisser le volume, mais on a eu droit à une réponse indifférente et arrogante. L’ambiance n’était pas agréable. It was a really unpleasant experience. it is not a hostel where you can relax after a day of adventure on the island. it had loud and aggressive music starting at 5pm. we had difficulty talking to each other. we tried to communicate with them several times to change the music and turn down the volume, but we got an indifferent and arrogant response. the atmosphere was not pleasant. i do not recommend it unless you like to live in the party.
Horrible, horrible beds. If someone moved it was like an earthquake. Really noisy because of the structure of the hostel. Ants in the bed. Windows weren't closable. Staff is friendly, but at the night they did not pay attention to keep the queit.

The hostel is hyped up to be alot better than it is. I stayed in two on the island and the other was much more modern, spacious and clean. No locks in the whole hostel, bathrooms are poor and kitchen is bad. Volunteers are rude, reception staff are nice though.
The staff is very friendly and the hostel is located well. However, the outside area is not very clean and the kitchen very basic. Also the room we stayed in smelled badly
Owner made me feel uncomfortable and would make fun of the other guests when talking to me. Wi-Fi did not work in the rooms. Rooms were so hot and they didn’t turn the AC on and no one in either dorm slept the last night from the heat. I do not understand why this is rated so highly especially for the extremely high price.
Owner is a bit weird with girls. Wifi does not work in the rooms. No keys to get in so the hostel is open to anyone to come in.
The hostel was really overhyped and the atmosphere was pretty dead. The boss was really odd and unprofessional, never around unless people were partying. I've also heard from multiple people that he's inappropriate with female guests/staff. Would not recommend this hostel, there are lots of nicer ones on Ilha Grande.

The location is central and the green courtyard nice. But I found the dorms quite packed and thin-walled. Moreover, the bathrooms were not clean and generally there was not much service available. The owner/manager seemed more interested in his personal happiness and cool appearance than in the wellbeing of his guests. Maybe the place ist more convenient for party people, for IT WAS NOT. I came with high expectation because of the very good reviews of the place but I cannot recommend it.

Very lovley hostle, great staff and atmosphere
Best hostel on the island I think! The dorms are good and enough showers etc for everyone. Very social vibe Only thing is; the top bunks are really hard to get in!

Die Betten waren sehr angenehm, mit Vorhang für Privatsphäre. Sehr gute Location, nicht zu sehr in der Stadtmitte, aber so das alles sehr gut und schnell erreichbar war. Das beste Hostel auf der Insel.
The beds were very comfortable, with curtains for privacy. very good location, not too much in the city center, but so all that was very good and quickly reachable. the best hostel on the island.

Amazing place!! The staff is so friendly and Roman, the owner, is a great host. It is a very social place as well, it's super easy to meet new people. The backyard and the kitchen are really great and the drinks at the bar are THE best. I had a great time here and would always come back! Thank you Roman!
I loved this hostel, one of the nicer ones I’ve stayed in South America. The beds and rooms were nice and spacious, the people at the hostel are super friendly, the owner was great and made the hostel a super sociable and nice place and generally just loved the vibe - I would 100% come back

Ich hatte eine wundervolle Zeit dort! Die Betten sind bequem, haben Licht, ein Regal und einen Vorhang. Der Hinterhof ist wunderschön grün. Aber das beste waren die Leute vor Ort. Man lernt schnell neue Menschen kennen. Danke an Roman und das ganze Team!
I had a wonderful time there! The beds are comfortable, have light, a shelf and a curtain. The backyard is beautifully green. But the best thing was the locals. You get to know new people quickly. Thanks to Roman and the whole team!

Echt heel leuk hostel! De eigenaar is een leuke gast, heel vrolijk en gezellig. Je krijgt je eigen plekje om spulletjes neer te leggen in de keuken, voor broodjes etc, en de koelkast is erg ruim. Hij heeft 4 katten en die vinden het leuk om in je bed te liggen, ik was daar niet zo over te spreken maar als je je gordijntje dichthoudt is dat prima. Leuk hostel en leuke mensen!! Aanrader!
The owner is a nice guest, very cheerful and friendly. you get your own place to put things in the kitchen, for sandwiches etc, and the fridge is very spacious. he has 4 cats and they like to lie in your bed, i was not there so over to speak but as je je gordijntje dichthoudt is that fine. nice hostel and nice people!!
Cute hostel located right in the center of Ilha Grande! Short walk to the beach or to shops/restaurants. Stayed in the 8 bed dorm with Ensuite. Bathroom was cleaned everyday, aircon worked great and they had lockers in room for storage (though didn’t use for my big bag bc I had a top locker). Nice chill patio area to hangout/meet people. I had an amazing time at Balaio Hostel, the host Roman and his volunteers made sure everyone feels included and were super helpful planning trips, shuttles or your night out. The four cute kittens who also live here, made the place feel like home and gave you a cuddle, sometimes even in your bed. The kitchen also was well equipped.
The best hostel on the island! It has a great atmosphere and you get to meet a lot of amazing people. Román and the staff are super attentive and friendly. They organize many events, so you’re guaranteed to have a great time. The WiFi works well and it’s comfortable and quiet enough if you need to work. I highly recommend it for solo travelers as well because it’s very social and you’ll definitely make friends.
