Black Forest Hostel

For what they charge 26€ per night???? The rooms doesn’t even have a lock, anyone can get in at any time (I felt so unsafe). Even the cops appear during the night because there was a person outside off the hostel screaming on the phone with someone at 1am, and you could hear from inside the rooms!!! I swear there was bedbugs, because I was screeching the whole night. And the toilets have the hand towel, like wtf it’s a hostel they should have paper towels, very unhygienic. Horrible.

Worst experience I’ve ever had in a hostel. The staff member was literally shouting at me for entering the washroom although that was the only washroom on the floor cause I stayed in a private double room. He was aggressive and violent and shouldn't work in the hospitality industry. Also, the rooms are old, dirty, and full of dust. Would never go to this nightmare hostel again.

Das Hostel ist wegen des Holzbodens extremst hellhörig. Man hört jeden Schritt. Di anderen Gäste waren die ganze Nacht super laut und man kann wirklich unmöglich in Ruhe schlafen. Knappe Einrichtung, riecht muffig. Anfang Oktober lief keine Heizung, war nachts saukalt. Würde das Hostel auf keinen Fall wieder buchen.

Das Hostel ist sehr schlicht und minimal eingerichtet. Die Zimmer sind groß, aber ohne besondere Atmosphäre – insgesamt fehlt die typische Hostel-Stimmung. Die Mitarbeiter sind zwar freundlich, wirken jedoch eher gelangweilt und distanziert. Die Ausstattung ist sehr einfach gehalten, erfüllt aber den Zweck. Die Küche ist in Ordnung und gut nutzbar.

I left early from Freiburg because the hostel and no atmosphere. I would not recommend here if you’re a solo traveller or female solo. Hard to get a receptionist at reception. The lockers are outside the room and so thin. The showers have windows so there is 0 privacy! They clean the kitchen at wierd times. Not to mention I felt uncompfortable the entire time, they advertise an age restriction which doesn’t exist. One receptionist did not care about my safety in the mixed dorm.

I feel that considering the price charged, the hostel could be much more well managed and maintained. The structure is a bit old and the wifi hasn’t worked during my 3 days over there. I left the hostel disappointed regarding the whole experience.

Distance yourself from the girl working in the reception ( danni ) she can create drama at any moment , unhappy with her self

The location and place to rest My head was good for the nights I was there, I could do with locks on the doors and more rules about children running around everywhere

Amazing staff who were so very very helpful. I loved the atmosphere of the lobby and the kitchen was so nice. It’s a great location in a quieter neighbourhood about a 5 minute walk from the altstadt, as well as the straßenbahn to the Hauptbahnhof. I would definitely recommend Black Forest Hostel to anyone!

What really makes this hostel is the common spaces—big kitchen with multiple tables, lovely common room with plants, couches, games, and skylights. Lovely. The location is really good too. Security was maybe an eh as the room doors don’t lock, but I never felt particularly unsafe. Only real issue is that employees were not consistently at reception. I dropped my bags off in the morning, and then came back around 7pm to check in, and had to wait almost an hour for anyone to show up at the des...

Amazing price to quality ratio, could not ask more for the price of the stay. The staff is very helpful and the location could not be better. Highly recommend!

Great hostel, kinda old but also kinda cool, the lounge is really great, you have a pool table, free puzzle, free board game, ... and the kitchen is big and clean, you have Space and everything, the only bad thing is the weed smell but it's not really the fault of the hostel but more the people in it

Sauber und gemütlich

Ein Team, das während meines langen Aufenthalts von 11 Nächten stets hilfsbereit und verfügbar war. Eine geräumige Küche und ein Esszimmer mit Sitzecke, Klavier und Entspannungsbereich. Ein Detail, das abends mit Kerzen beleuchtet wurde, sehr gemütlich. Die Gemeinschaftsbäder waren sauber und die Heizung funktionierte im Winter sehr gut. Ich empfehle es Reisenden oder allen, die ein Abenteuer in Freiburg beginnen möchten!

The staff were super nice, it was very secured. The bathroom needed more room to put stuff in. Overall very clean

The door didn’t even fully close let alone lock, the showers were both freezing the days I used them and the general atmosphere is slightly unsettling for a girl alone, lots of men hanging around and very few girls

Super Hostel für einen kurzen Ausflug nach Freiburg, man ist zu Fuß sehr schnell in der Stadt. Gemütlicher vibe. Morgens kostenlos Tee & Kaffee in der Küche.

Very nice and friendly atmosphere. Felt very safe as a solo female traveller

stayed at the black forest hostel gor 2 nights, the location is ideal, on a 10-minute walking distance from the city centre, it has clean dorms with spacious lockers outside the room. the sanitary facilities are clean and the shower has enough hot water to accomodate all the guests. We stayed in the 20-person dorm, and it was alright, privacy is as you would expect, but the beds are actually quite comfortable. Would surely recommend to stay here if you visit Freiburg.

J'ai passé un agréable séjour. J'ai beaucoup apprécié de pouvoir emprunter une guitare à la réception pour jouer. Le salon est bien aménagé avec un coin repos sur de la moquette et un hamac. La chambre individuelle était simple avec très peu de meubles, mais le rapport qualité prix est bien. L'hôtel est proche du centre.

Best ever hostel I’ve been too; it’s my second time and i want to do it again and again in that wunderschön Freiburg im Breisgau
