When we arrived our beds were wet and the entire place was damp and smelled of mildew. We then found mold spores all over our pillows and when we asked to get new sheets on our beds and pillows, they only replaced the pillows. We decided we couldn’t stay and when we asked for a refund (and even a partial refund) they completely refused! What made it worse was when we asked for them to change the sheets and then later for the refund they smirked and laughed. I do not recommend a-mâze house at ...

I got a private room, but despite being clean and tidy, I don’t think it was worth it

The hosts are not very welcoming, barely speaking English. They don't block their dorm rooms online (on Hostelworld) if they are already booked through other platforms so it can happen to you that your room isn't even available. Their "included breakfast" is this slimy tofu-mushroom snack rolled in bamboo leafs (nothing else to choose from). Room (Attic) + Showers are ok. Would go with another one next time

We booked the standard double bed private room. It didn’t look like the photos, it is painted dark. The curtains did not cover the window properly with a window opposite, dead cockroach on the floor and noisy rats in the roof, unsettling. The room also had a damp/musty/stale smell which made our clothes smell. If the service by staff was excellent this could be easier to overlook, but we didn’t feel too warmly welcomed. The price is high for the quality of room and shared bathroom.

Die Atmosphäre im Hostel war sehr komisch, ich habe mich so unwohl gefühlt wie nirgends zuvor. An der Rezeption hat das Personal Abends laut Videospiele gespielt oder war auf tiktok und das Frühstück war irgendwas undefinierbares was ich ungern essen wollte. Ich war nur eine Nacht dort und mehr als froh wieder gehen zu können.

We unfortunately checked out pretty immediately because the sound of rats chewing in the ceiling was so loud we couldn’t sleep. Staff were lovely though and was walking distance to the imperial city.

I was staying in a “basic single room” and tbh I expected something different. If you book that room, then you’re in the attic and in one of 6 cabins. There’s walls around you but they don’t go all the way up, so 0 soundproofing, no privacy for calls or anything. The walls are translucent, so if anyone turns on the light in the attic, your cabin will be flooded with light. In the “private room” there’s a matrace on the floor and a fan, that’s it.

Ok hostel but wouldn’t bother paying extra for a separate room. They are all open at the top and the walls are translucent. Even if someone only has the small light on inside their room it lights up your whole room as well, it’s especially bad if the hall light is on as well. My pillow case also wasn’t very clean and the whole room had a bit of a musty smell. The communal areas were all clean and the staff were lovely. Hostel right next to the citadel (not the city centre)

Wat een prachtig hostel is dit. Het personeel is enorm vriendelijk en staan altijd voor je klaar. De eenpersoonskamers zijn geweldig en hebben alles wat je nodig hebt. De badkamer is ook zeer proper.

I stayed here for just one night but wish I could’ve stayed another night! The woman was so helpful and kind, she sent some recommendations of food locations, places to visit. Highly recommend staying here!

This place was amazing. The home owners are lovely, although they don’t speak English they share things, they smile and they are always there to help (they have got a lovely English speaking girl that works there). The house itself was beautiful, lots of light and greenery. Get space I will be returning

Very quiet hostel ! But it’s so nice and everything is so comfy ✨ I enjoyed my time there and I will come back for sure :)

I really enjoyed this hostel. The location is perfect because you're very close to the citadel and away from the touristy center so it's quiet and feels local. The host was very friendly and the breakfast was nice. I booked a city tour with the hostel which was very good and I highly recommend it. The only downside in my opinion is that the private rooms don't feel like private rooms because of the paper-thin Japanese-style walls and the fact it was so small and everything was shared.

Een mooie plek, alles wat je nodig hebt is aanwezig, vriendelijk personeel en de locatie is goed. Het geeft een hostel gevoel en je hebt toch privacy in je eigen kamer.

Both the beds and the breakfast were good. However, we found that there were lots of bugs/mosquitoes in the bedroom and the bathrooms. The hot water also ran out every time I showered.

The hostel itself was fine but the people staying there were so odd. Definitely not social by any means. Hostel didn’t really have anyone our age and everyone was kinda rude. Reception were nice and accommodating. Not loads of seating spaces out of the room & about 40 min walk into centre.

This hostel was one of my favourites on my south east Asia trip. Quit and away from the tourist strip, it provides tranquility. The staff are great - I’d gotten into a nasty moped accident a few days before coming here and they let me move my reservation for free (because I was stranded in Hoi An!) plus they helped carry my bags up and down the stairs to the top floor and ensured I had a bottom bunk. They also welcomed us all to a family lunch for free which was so nice. 100/10!!
