Frechheit.
Traveller’s Oasis has a great, social vibe and the outdoor showers were amazing. There were quite a few ants, but that’s understandable given the mostly open-air setup. Front desk hours are limited (only open 9:30am–12pm & 4:30pm–7pm) so midday arrivals will need to wait elsewhere. Dorms require paid air con, which felt frustrating in the Cairns heat. I stayed in a private room with free air con and a mini fridge, which made all the difference. I’d stay again, but only in a private roo...
Overall really enjoyed our stay , super friendly staff. Super cool environment, loved the outdoor shower. Only downfall was the extra fee for air conditioning (1$ for 3 hours). Definitely on the smaller side for the private rooms but it came with a sink and mini fridge. All the bathrooms and kitchens were kept very clean.
As a female solo traveller, I wouldn’t recommend this hostel! First of all, there’s no option of a female only room; normally hasn’t been the biggest problem for me, but this hostel doesn’t have an age limit which led to three 18-20 year olds girls sleeping with a 50 year old in a tiny room… Furthermore, it wasn’t as clean as I thought it would be… we had several cockroaches in our room and I saw a huge one in the kitchen which was disgusting. Also; location not good; not save a...
Overall ok. There was a lovely Christmas breakfast. Clean and in a good location. I found the receptionist was a bit rude. They charge for aircon, even in communal spaces, which is disgusting in this heat. One kitchen and the bathrooms had no aircon. If you are going to do this, you need to CLEARLY advertise. Online it says the rooms provide aircon, and that is not entirely true. You have to pay for luggage storage and to stay on checkout. It should be cheaper to reflect the lack of services.
Staff is amazing! Average hostel no privacy and small rooms. Small bathrooms + lots of bugs but that’s pretty expected in cairns. Common areas are really cool. Have to pay per hour for AC :(
The hostel was very clean and felt safe and secure. It was nice that there were multiple kitchens. However, there was an air of animosity from certain members of staff. It felt a bit like we were in the way a lot of the time and we weren’t allowed to use the kitchens (and even bathrooms at times) for what felt like extended periods of time. The man with the dog was lovely and very helpful as were the two younger girls on reception. Not being able to stay in the hostel past 12 was a shame.
Cool and really calm atmosphere. Sometimes people were a bit noisy all around in the later hours.
Very clean, but a bit overpriced for a private room with a shared bathroom which was frequently occupied. Location is about a 20 min walk from the main strip of restaurants and shops. Staff is only available limited hours of the day. Check out is pretty early at 10am given checkin time is at 4pm. They are very strict about getting your luggage out of storage before 4pm.
We had deluxe doubles which were fine. Comfy beds and own fridge. Have to pay $1 for aircon for 3 hours. Staff were friendly on the whole however the owners were very rude and unapproachable when we returned at 7:10pm (10 minutes after reception shut) from a trip and needed our luggage out of storage. Despite being told by another staff member some instructions we were asked by the owners if we could cope without it for the night? Kitchen could be better stocked as plates/bowls are chipped etc

perhaps the most charming hostel i have ever stayed in! it feels like a chill little oasis just outside cairns centre. super comfy and homey feel, i could definitely stay a while. the staff were also all so friendly and engaged and helpful when we locked ourselves out. having multiple kitchens and lounge rooms was also fantastic and was always clean and tidy ! best hostel i’ve stayed in in aus by far
Great hostel, friendly patrons and staff. Would stay here again!

Geweldig hostel!! Zou het iedereen aanraden, schone kamers en badkamers en echt super gezellig!
very nice place, behind the mall but like 15 min walk to the lagoon, the pool is nice, and everything is so clean ans the place is calm. just a perfect place to stay in cairns
My favourite hostel in Australia Staff super friendly, facilities are great - i had a really comfortable stay here
I loved to stay there. The best hostel on the east coast. The staff is friendly and kind. They have a lot of knowledge and they can help you plan your trip easily. The hostel was super clean and have a lot of style. We were very comfortable. We would go back for sure. Special mention to Sita, the hostel mascot.
One of my absolute favourite hostels on my east coast tour. Felt like living in a big shared home (in the best way and a very clean one with great people). Would def recommend for anyone not looking for a party hostel (cough Gilligans cough) but a relaxed and cozy but still social stay with great extras like towels and a beautiful outdoor shower (in addition to normal ones indoors). Just heads up: bring a mosquito spray for rainy early mornings and nights.
Amazing facilities, not too social, very clean, there’s a pool, multiple kitchens, staff was nice and helpful.
Great Hostel! Very clean, very friendly and you feel just like home.
Best hostel in Australia! Loved my time there, Eid I could have stayed for longer
Such a great place to stay! The facilities are awesome and clean. Chill vibe and the staff are incredibly helpful with tips for the area.
Wanted to avoid a party hostel in Cairns so opted for the good value and small rooms here. Lovely pool, live-in staff and guests were all really friendly, great vibe.
go for it, verry chill, verry clean, nice people.
Great vibe, great people, great hostel. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
Great stay, really relaxed vibes, everyone was friendly. Lots of space to hang out and a nice pool, clean and tidy and perfectly located near cairns centre (20 minute walk to the reef terminals, 2 min walk to the kuranda railway, bus stops and large shopping centre. Staff on hand to help with recommendations/ tour booking if you want that. Often get upgraded to a better room if one is available too. Great stay, I didn’t want to leave!
Really great overall! The only weird thing was having to pay $1 / 8 hours of air con in the dorms. I think the company should just pay for this instead of paying for 8 hours and expecting guests to keep feeding a machine in the room--especially if it would cost $3/ day. The idea of making sure to put money in every night not to wake up boiling in the middle of the night was not a worry I needed.
Overall pretty good. Only complaints was that the wifi was out for a whole day when i got there which sucks traveling internationally. The other thing was you have to pay for air conditioning, which is kinda ridiculous for the “#1 hostel in cairns”. Other than that, it was great. Social, clean, and reltively close to everything.
Amazing spot. It is beautiful, clean and met awesome people. 3 kitchens, nice pool and the asthetic is killer. It’s such a vibe. Outdoor shower is awesome. Close to cairns central and 15 min easy walk from esplanade. Would highly recommend staying here, loved it
Great hostel, located a 5 min walk from the greyhound stop or a 15 minute walk from the reef terminal, staff are super friendly and helped me book some tours for my time in cairns. The hostel provides a towel for free for showering and offers beach towels for free for using at the pool or if you go on a tour. There are multiple kitchens to use and it's a super social hostel. I'd happily stay here again.
