very weird atmosphere with strange guests. the facilities are very basic and staff is not very friendly. I didnt feel comfortable.

Don’t go here, the vibe feels like someone died in here. I read the reviews of other previous guests but thought it will be alright but it was a waste of money, time and happy energy. The owner tries in a way but just doesn’t know how to make people comfortable. The common areas are quit, every guest over here agreed it feels akward in here. When I arrived before check in time of 2pm I had to leave and walk around in town:“Don’t be back before 2!” And it is also a quitte expensive room...

I regret coming here, the owner is rude and impatient. I got changed 11 aus dollars more and I was unable to even tell him the amount because he would no listen, and say it's my card's fault, or because it was another the currency but not him; he refused to even look at bank account or what was shown on my app. I use a Monzo cars and it doesn't charge extra. The man unreasonable and incredibly rude. The hostel is very basic and it is decent clean, it was pricey though.

I did this reservation because this hostel had a good note. I really don’t understand why. The kitchen is to small, bathroom same. The pool is small and durty, nobody go in. And the wonner of this hostel is strange and unhelpfull. He come to the room without asking, during the night. So impolite !! And for the bag when you arrive, you can just put them, and leave. After your long trip, can’t stay there inside. I will never go again

The good: Quiet hostel with respectful guests. Owner does a great job of keeping the communal areas clean.The not so good: Made to feel uncomfortable and like an inconvenience to the owner, who said the right things to be helpful, but with an almost begrudging and hostile air.In the end, I decided to book somewhere else rather than extend my stay. There is another similarly named hostel very close by that offers the same and more without the negative vibes.

Mutton dressed up as lamb! Nice foyer.. totally inadequate kitchen and bathroom needs more attention to detail especially under toilet seats! Grubby and unhygienic. The door does not shut properly which is problematic for a women’s bathroom as everyone can see in. The room itself has a fridge and air conditioner.. shame about all the traffic noise. The manager can be rude and obnoxious, sexist and ought to take an anger management course!

Probably the worst hostel I’ve been too. Host not there on arrival had to phone for the code to come in. Our room was out the back of the property past the pool area. Which looks nothing like the pictures. The pool was murky and not clean looking. All the windows were open in our room arrival so it was absolutely boiling even though it had AC. Got bitten to death by bugs. 1 toilet and 1 shower for 4 rooms! The ‘Extensive Tour Desk’ always has the shutters down so no one is there to help yo...

Overall a good place to sleep and relax but the ants in my room were hard to look past

Our welcome to the hostel was very poor. The guy was unfriendly, unhelpful and no empathy. We booked the wrong date for the hostel so when we arrived, we were treated like idiots. He knew that we had booked the wrong day but failed to tell us until we realized. After that, 2 days later, we got the same greating. No smile. The hostel is very clean and functional but the host spoils the stay. That's a shame.

I stayed in private room, facing to street and it was very noisy. Everything else, besides the traffic was quiet, appreciated that. The place itself is pretty nice and clean but beware of small bugs, house is old, keep the room ventilated, keeps them away. If you want to put something in the fridge during your stay plug it in straight away(!), it’s rather slow.

Perfectly placed next to cairns central (trans north/greyhound bus to Queensland) and 5 mins from bars/restaurants. Air con was a blessing, Peter friendly an helpful with a 11pm check in (just email in advance). 20 mins taxi to airport. Would stay again.

We had ants in our room. Looks like they were attracted to the garbage can next to in room refrigerator. My bed was near the refrigerator to had occasional ants crawling on me at night :(

Phone number at the door. Need to phone to gain access. Very clean and comfortable. I would use again.

Very calm and serene atmosphere very welcoming to a plus 60 year old traveler. NOT a party Hostel. Only drawbacks: the host neglected to give us the code for the front door, and conversation with three other guests revealed that was typical; and the WiFi was not reliable. Otherwise, a gorgeous building with a beautiful garden and pool and really close to tow.

I had a lovely private room. Very clean. Basic, but everything you need. It's not a big party hostel, but I appreciated that. People keep themselves to themselves but if that's what you're after this is a great spot. I enjoyed it a lot.

Host Peter was amazing, very happy to accommodate us. The location is perfect it is right opposite the Shopping centre and the bus/train station. There was a cockroach in the bathroom that only terrorised us at night lol, kitchen had a couple ants but nothing too bad. Had all the facilities we could need. Not a social hostel so nice if you want to relax and chill out. Overall great stay :)

Great hostel in the centre of cairns right by the greyhound bus stop, Peter the owner is so helpful and informative and keeps in contact with you on your journey there, great kitchen facilities, rooms were really comfortable with normal beds so you get a good nights sleep, there’s no social events but you can meet other people easily enough there and great if you want a relaxing stay 😊

Das Hostel ist eher ruhig, aber hat alles was man braucht und die Leute, die ich getroffen habe, waren mega nett. Das Zimmer war klein aber fein und der Check-In lief übers Telefon, war okay, aber nach einer langen Autofahrt nicht optimal. Zudem wurde ein Flughafenshuttle angegeben, doch man musste sich selbst ein bestellen und es gab, zumindest für sehr frühe Flüge keinen Shuttle. Felt safe due to the keycode lock and the location is super convenient for the kuranda railway and boats for the reef. The owner, Peter was super responsive and kind and was cleaning the place every single day. He said good morning everyday which was lovely, and when i lost my key (literally dont know how haha) he looked for it for us and gave us a new one for a $30 fee which was fair enough. Kitchen was great too. The other ppl in the hostel were shouting until 3am tho but not the hostels fault

I liked most how clean the hostel and the rooms were. I got a really big room, the bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning was completely new which was really soothing especially for the nights. There’s also a swimming pool you can use at any time. Peter, the host of the hostel, really puts much effort into the hostel. It’s a really calm hostel but still I found people to hang out with. So if you’re looking for a calm and relaxed stay, you’re right there!

Very clean and efficiently run hostel. Peter was also very accommodating when I needed to stay an additional night at very short notice. A truly enjoyable stay, would recommend.

Nice and clean

The kitchen was clean, well-equipped & not busy, making cooking easy. The downstairs bathroom was spacious & conveniently all in one room (rather than cubicles). The negatives were the main door key was tricky to use. The atmosphere felt odd - I stayed in a mixed dorm for four, often being the only female. Since it's a hotel rather than a hostel, there’s no age limit in the dorm, which sometimes felt uncomfortable.

A positive: Right across the street from the Greyhound bus stop, other transit, and the central mall. Neutral: There were more 50+ year-olds than I've ever seen at a hostel.

Great place and a great, accommodating owner

Great place to stay! Amazing kitchen. Feels like home. Peter the host was amazingly accommodating. Everyone was friendly and social and yet it also felt quiet enough to get some sleep. I highly recommend this place to anyone interested in a more quiet and atmosphere that is still friendly and feels like home!
