Not recommended for social travelers & drinkers who cannot speak Chinese well. While staff was nice, the downstairs social area was more like a library… The people there looked like local students, had snacks & did not look up from their work at all. I struggled to find a place to sit to have my two free “beers” which were more like sweet non-alcoholic ciders😞 Worst hostel experience ive had, though staff was nice and caring. Maybe bad luck. I ended up moving to a hotel. N...
Bad location, the one I was sent to was NOT near People’s Square (they have two buildings)
Nice staff, common area ok, dorms are so small, there’s nowhere to put your stuff or even to take it out or store. Showers are mid
Normal hostel with mostly Chinese people. You have to make your own bed and clean when leaving. Staff is friendly and area is very quiet on the suburbs. Overall hostel was clean and felt safe all the time
This hostel is not particularly bad but it’s not a traditional hostel for international travelers. In my stay I found a lot of local people and they had long stays. The woman’s bathroom smelled really bad and there were always hairs everywhere. There should be a rule about no food inside the rooms because someone had a box of fruit inside mine and it smelled terrible. One night as I walked back I had google maps and it sent me through some really dark back alleys behind the hostel
Not social hostel, wouldn’t recommend solo travellers. Dorms are really really tight, no space to put luggage. It was only wiped not cleaned everyday. There was always a full bin and rubbish all over the floor and air con was blasting while the windows were open. Air con made everyone in room sick. Stayed in many hostel in China and this was by far one of the worst.
Not great. Staff were so unhelpful. Beds are comfy. Not social at all and there’s no atmosphere. Location is ok although could be better
good quality/price
Great price for Shanghai but everything is super far and you have to walk 10-15min to reach the metro. Nobody talks to each other. You have to make your own bed and there's no towels provided + they were out of slippers when I arrived. There's a free washing machine but no dryer so definitely ambitious to dry your clothes if it's winter. Overall I'd recommend spending a little more and staying in a better neighborhood.
came late at night tired. thrn they give me covers for blanket and mattress and tell me to change my own bed by myself. which was annoying since i just wanted to lay down and sleep. and definitely woke up everyone in the room while doing so. atmosphere is basically chinese kids with noodle cups playing games with headphones or older Chinese doing work.

The staff is amazing, location is great and overall it’s a good hostel. If you are traveling solo, I would really avoid this. Many people are working and the common area is super loud. Also, the dorms are very small. Bonus point: super cute cat
I had a fantastic stay at Dayin International Youth Hostel! The location is absolutely unbeatable—you are right in the heart of the action on Nanjing East Road and just a short walk from the Bund and the Metro station. Despite being in such a busy area, the hostel itself felt safe and well-organized. The facilities were clean, and the beds were comfortable with good privacy curtains. It’s the perfect base for exploring Shanghai. Highly recommended!

It's the best place to stay! Great location, great atmosphere, and above all, the reception staff are super friendly and they will help you with everything. I hope to return soon.
真不错,难得的住宿服务体验,值得回购
Really, a rare experience of accommodation service, worth buying back.
Thank you for taking care of me during my short two-day stay. The staff were so warm and welcoming. I loved that there was a small gym and a shared room on the first floor where you can eat and drink — it was really nice. The location was convenient, just a step off the main road, and the hostel was in a great spot.

Hostel tres agradable with all the necessary amenities.Thank you to the person of the reception who is very kind and helpful !
Top station by Shanghai station, near metro 1 with which you can reach all the main places of interest, bathrooms and rooms very clean, docce and 10/10.
Decent hostel!! Had a good stay
I don’t think this place is good for travelers. It’s full of locals staying long term and the downside is that the rooms are tiny but they have all their stuff spread out across the room. The bathrooms aren’t cleaned that frequently and they adopted the hostel practice of you make your bed which bothered me after a long day of traveling. Beds are nice but yeah I would say this is a place you’d go just to spend the night cause you won’t meet anyone
Super schönes Hostel mit netten Mitarbeitern. Leider liegt das Hostel bisschen weit weg von allem
Super nice hostel with nice staff, unfortunately the hostel is a bit far away from everything.
Good hostel, feels quite European compared to some hostels in Asia. There are two Dayin hostels in Shanghai so make sure you go to the right one, unlike what I did.
I like the room set up a lot, the atmosphere of the hostel is great, friendly staff and very equipped facilities. I love the bed. Location of the hostel is fine to get to every where I wanted to visit. Plus, neighbourhood has lots of local good food and a friendly wet market. Will stay Deyin Jing’an again if I visit Shanghai.
it's close to one of the 3 train stations and it takes 2 hours to get ther by metro. The area is quiet but sometimes the guests can be loud during the night. The mens rooms smell like sweat but probably that's more on the guests. Otherwise clean and comfy.
Standard Hostel with nice beds but a bit a lack of atmosphere. The staff is very helpful though and you can get a cheap breakfast and coffee throughout the day if you like.
