+ The breakfast was served in a big room. You have to order in the open kitchen. They made eggs in different styles which was nice. Also watermelone slides were provided. We were in contact with Asha before our trip and she was really helpful. She made everything possible she could. We planned the Kili Tour just some days earlier with her and paid directly when we arrived, started next day.
- We were expecting wifi, but there wasn't any signal at all. They provided us a modem to plug in. But unfortunatly it did not work out. Also the rest of the staff was not speaking English very well. So be aware of communication lacks. The hostel provided us a room outside of the main building, 5 mins to walk. The street was very bad so walking at night can be dangerous. Towels were missing firstly. No information were we could get water from. Poor service in these aspects. The restaurant of the property look really nice and clean. The cook is quite new and does not understand English, which made it a bit complicated to order food. There was no menu with prices. Be aware of the 5% service charge if you want to pay with card. (This is a general thing in Tanzania and also other countries).
Rafiki guesthouse is an okay hostel, but it does not live up to the other high ratings it has. There is free breakfast, but its the poorest most tasteless toast with eggs I have ever gotten. The rooms are very hot and the fan is very loud, you get a small blanket to sleep with and the beds are not comfortable The staff is very sweet and helpfull though
- Lack of flexibility at times. The lady at reception gives different prices to customers for laundry and was clearly not properly trained to welcome tourists and answer potential requests.

Great hostel overall! We had a really good stay here, but a couple of things could have been better. They didn't mention anywhere that there's a pool—we only found out because we saw it on their Instagram. It would be great if that was included in the listing. Also, we stayed for a full week and didn't receive any room service during that time. Just something to be aware of!
Upon arrival, they seemingly had overbooked and me and my friend were placed at a different location. We were promised a driver to get us to the reception area, but this was not available the second day. We felt abandoned and left to ourselves and we did not get the hostel feeling at all. The bed was rock hard and the floors were dirty, but they cleaned them when we asked. No Uhuru museum and no mini market nearby. Ok kitchen, but I got raw chicken one day and they tried to charge full price.
- The location is not the best, the lady at the reception gave a $4 full laundry price to some guests and gave me a ridiculously overpriced list for my laundry. They don’t treat all customers the same way. Very unfortunate.
I wouldnt book here again. The electricity is a big issue, booked for 3 nights and had to stay in 3 different rooms because problems. There are no restaurants or uhuru museum near like the discription says. The hostel does offer a kitchen and a lady can cook food for you. They have a little menu. Free pick up from center also not possible as i tried to call, text and email but did not get a response. The ladies who cook are sweet, dont expect to have conversation or help with planning of a trip.
+ Friendly stuff. I had 1.5 hour delay at the airport but the guy that was picking me up had waited for me and welcomed me warmly in Tanzania. Good connection with tuck tuck drivers and tour agencies.
- I started to write and book directly via email Rafiki backpackers. Then I preferred to book via Booking since the price was more convenient for me. I wrote them that I had moved my reservation to Booking, assuming that was clear that the previous one had to be cancelled. When checking out, they wanted to charge me the price that was arranged in the first reserve, so the lower cost shown in Booking app was not applied. Plus be aware that no soap and towels are provided, but that's normal for a hostel. Our room fan was also pretty noisy. It's easy to find better accomodations at cheaper price in Moshi.

- Restaurant was okay but food took hours to be made. That’s the only complaint :)

Had A very nice stay, The staff was Friendly & helpful, location is perfect. They arrange a driver if you need one. Next door you have a lovely place to have your breakfast (free) or dinner (pay). Only there was no hot water in the shower. All over a very lovely place to spend time in Moshi !
We stayed in a private room and really enjoyed our time here! We loved the rooftop terrace, free breakfast, & helpful staff. It’s a bit far from town but we actually enjoyed being away from the busy downtown and aggressive vendors. Super comfy bed, clean facilities, no AC but ceiling fan was nice. Hot water is hit or miss. We were here during the rainy season but the restaurant next door seems like it would be super fun vibe when more travelers are around. Asante sana to the kind staff!

Easy to book online . Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet location . Possible to walk to the center
+ Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice homemade food, we had an overall good experience. Great location if you are going there before climbing Kilimanjaro.

Overall okay. It was very quiet when we were there so we didn’t meet any other ppl, but we did have a lovely stay. There is a really good restaurant right next to it!
