Hostel Mantra

Dirty and old place. There was a rat in the kitchen. The AC was at 16 degrees and could not be changed. The main door is open 24/7 and the rooms are not locked. Overall a really bad value. Would not come here again.

The guys at reception were very nice but that was the only positive about this hostel. There was no bedding on the bed, other than a thin sheet on the mattress. There was a pillow and duvet but nothing to cover them. The room had mosquitoes so got bitten a lot during the night. The bathroom was connected to the bedroom and smelled awful. The water from the tap was brown. It was a nice area but very far away from the centre of Mumbai and there wasn’t much to do around there.

I booked and they cancelled my stay and wouldn't offer a refund (though I had emailed/called and asked for months). When I finally came in person to ask for a refund, I was bitten constantly by mosquitoes for the ten minutes I stood by the reception. I haven't stayed and don't intend on rebooking, so can't speak about what it's actually like here.

Good hostel and very friendly staff. Also a very nice Dog, Dra! Just be aware they’ll send a payment link that needs to be settled before you arrive to confirm - we missed this and lost our room unfortunately and we’re moved to another one. Shower wouldn’t get hot but was clean. Easy to get to South Mumbai using public transport (6INR) and then the train from Andheri.

Dirty, used looked Place, not like in pictures. 1. As soon as I entered the property I could smell Pee. When I asked the guy helping me checkin he said there is a toilet next to the reception 2. I stayed in a girls Dorm on the ground floor which was next to laundry area. 3. The fan inside the room was so noisy that I could barely sleep on the first night. 4. Bed I was using has sharp noise of fans both the sides, wall mount and exhaust. Pillow was all shrinked. Water logging while taking shower.

Stayed at Hostel Mantra for 4 nights in April — both the 6-bed mixed dorm and a private twin room. The dorm is small and has only one washroom, but there's a common washroom nearby that helps. The private room was clean and comfortable. Staff Sudeep and the volunteer girl made the stay genuinely welcoming. I've stayed at Hostel Mantra twice and extended my stay both times. There's no other place in Mumbai I can think of recommending to a traveller as much as this. The dorms, beds, and common areas are the comfiest I've found at any hostel across the country. Nidhi, Pradeep, and Sudeep are great hosts who keep the place warm, welcoming, and safe for everyone. I had a great time at this hostel. All the staff are so friendly, there’s a sociable atmosphere, the beds are comfy, the rooms clean and the showers hot!

for the price it is nice, although not in the best area. I stayed in a room with only men, all Indians traveling or staying there for work. So if you want to meet other travellers, this is not the place for you. I personally loved the exchange with Indian and hearing what their home is like. This Hostel doesn't hold up to "european standards of clean". they try and really care for it. It was very smooth and lovely stay ! All people in hostel were very friendly and considerate . Especially Saral , he is such a ball of energy and charisma makes staying at Mantra even more worthwhile.

10/10 would recommend :) loved the vibe and Nidhi the hostel manager is just the best. Stayed in private room and everything worked well. The people who stay at Mantra are kind and fun - you will enjoy your stay supremely! ☺️

Location is far from the city, but the staff were incredibly welcoming and made the distance worth it. Having a private room, it was clean and safe and I loved it there.

nice calm neighbourhood, comfy beds with curtains, good ac and clean showers. not much going on socially and the common area isn't great, but otherwise recommend!

Great stay at mantra, staff are super friendly and hospitable. They are eager to help and accommodating. Facilities are good, it’s a bit out of the centre but the vibes of the neighbourhood are lovely.
