Mellow Hostel El Paredon

My stay in this hostel was fine except for the fact that I felt ripped off. They charge 7% on all card transactions, which is extortionate, and not against Guatemalan law but strongly advised against. I did a surf lesson through the hostel which was also a complete waste of money as the instructor was not good and spoke no English (which is fair - but a warning would have been nice). Reception staff were helpful about it but management offered no compensation. Will not stay here again.

Bedbugs!!! Woke up with lots of bed bug bites. Staff reacted annoyed and told me ‘this never happened before in Mellow and bed bugs don’t survive in this climate’. It wasn’t just me, another girl found an bed bug in her bed and they told her the same story. They did switch my matrass, after pushing them. They didn’t want to cover my laundry and I checked out earlier because of this. Didn’t get any refund!! Such a shame because this can happen, if they reacted differently it would’v...

To much trees at the pool

Lovely place. They seriously need to do something about the hygiene in the kitchen though. Half of the hostel got food poisoning

Didn’t like this hostel. For what you got I thought it was very overpriced. We stayed in a dorm room which didn’t have working plugs during the night and found the staff to be quite snobby. Felt like a mean girls club from school.

Food was overpriced for what it was, the portions were too small and often lacked in quality. For example, the fish tacos had 1 tiny nugget of fish per taco. Furthermore, the reception staff were nice but often had to ask 3 times to book transfers, tours or surf lessons. Finally, the mosquito net and sheets don’t really fit the beds and the fans don’t combat the heat.

This was a bit of a splash out for us but oddly ended up a bit deflated from the experience. I was there for much longer than my usual stay at hostels and somehow made much fewer connections with people. Sort of ended up avoiding the hostel, often feeling unwelcome and that I was a bit of an inconvenience. Really loved El Paredon in general - the people, food, beach, and hospitality were genuine and lovely. But when I come back, I will stay somewhere else.

Loved this hostel! Best part about it was the staff. Everyone was amazing. The family dinner and events were a great way to meet people. Pool and pool bar is so fun. Location is great and not too far from the beach. No locks on the dorm doors but lockers in the rooms. I stayed in an aircon dorm which I would definitely recommend for the extra money!

Meh. This place is overhyped IMO. dirty bathrooms and sand throughout property with no easy access showers makes bedrooms easy to get dirty too. Small lockers and not a safe feeling property. Completely vibeless while I was there too

really well maintained and great lounging areas! somewhat social, sort of cliquey and everybody seemed set in their groups, but once you find yours it’s nice. no security or locks on dorm rooms, no kitchen either but their food is reasonably priced and good

Notre séjour était chouette, mais nous recommandons fortement une chambre avec de l’air climatisé. Nous n’avions que deux ventilateurs, ce qui était insuffisant pour la chaleur et l’humidité d’El Paredon. Si vous souhaitiez vous reposer, ce n’est pas l’endroit idéal puisque c’est un hostel majoritairement de party

Tolles social Hostel mit wunderschönen, grossen Chill Area mit Pool. Im Dorm ohne AC gab es nur einen Deckenventilator und einen zusätzlichen Ventilator für alle. Wäre definitiv gut, wenn jeder Gast einen eigenen hätte, da es extrem heiss wird.

Best hostel ever, love all the staff, love the facilities, the vibe is just amazing! They offer a lot of activities where you can meet new people. The food is amazing and you can choose between a lot of options. Everything is so clean and organized. Cannot wait to go back !!!!

Beautiful hostel in El Paredon. The staff were SUPER helpful and friendly. They helped us upgrade our room, they also brought my partners pancakes out with candles (that I supplied) singing Happy Birthday on the morning of her birthday. The events that they put on are amazing from a social aspect. The family dinner inparticular was great and some of the best food we had. Pool area is great anf generally felt super nice hanging out here. Food was nice. Beach hostel so expect sand.

Really fun hostel

Absolute Empfehlung! Sehr freundliche Angestellte, top Essen und insgesamt eine tolle Anlage! Outdoor-Gym, Slackline, Hängematten usw lassen nichts zu wünschen übrig. Auch die vom Personal organisierten Events wie Family Dinner, Beerpongtunier kann ich absolut empfehlen :)

Loved this hostel so much! El Paredon usa must visit if you’re going to Guatemala! The staff were friendly, the pool was great, and amigas were made! Had such a great experience and truly never wanted to leave!

Best hostel ever. The staff are amazing, it’s super relaxing they have a gym, pool, table tennis, a TV and a swimming pool. I love it here

Superb hostel. Great people and fantastic staff and volunteers. I stayed in a solo teepee which was great. It would be nice to have a broom in there as it does get sandy! Security great too. I only wish it was on the beach!

Das Hostel ist ein Paradies zum entspannen. Das Essen ist preiswert, super lecker und es gibt viele Optionen. Von vegan bis Fisch und Fleisch, alles dabei Das Personal ist super sweet. (: Wir waren 6 Nächte hier und wollten nicht mehr gehen. Kommen gerne wieder!

Such a great hostel experience. The location is excellent and everything you need is close by. The food is really good, and it’s easy to spend the whole day there between surfing, relaxing, and hanging out with other travelers. The beds are comfortable, the amenities are very clean, and there are lots of nice chill areas where you can relax or meet people. They also have a great selection of surfboards to rent. A really lovely hostel with great energy, I would definitely stay here again:)

The hostel is simply incredibly beautiful. It has a very special vibe, and everyone feels comfortable there. Highly recommended, as it is also very well organized. Nothing is missing.
