Sayab Hostel & Bar

Not really any atmosphere, it’s definitely not social, the rooms are not great at awful no privacy curtains, my friend was on the top bunk and a railing was missing. None of the doors locked so anyone could walk into the hostel and walk into your room even at night because they weren’t checking wristbands. Toilets were ok. The only redeeming quality was Ramón the receptionist was amazing!

BED BUGS - this was a nightmare to be honest. I broke my toe slipping on the slick service outside my room where they don't mop up water from the pool. 30 minutes later I discovered both mattresses in my 4 bed (which is connected by a sliding door to another dorm where bugs can easily travel) had BED BUGS. In my 85+ hostels I've never encountered this. The staff was very friendly (Cecelia and Sofia), but ultimately there's no social atmosphere here and I would not recommend for a solo traveler.

The lady at the front desk was polite but bossy and unhelpful, she didn't seem to care about guests feeling comfortable but on following her rules. I removed the bracelet and kept it as the material was irritating my skin, and she immediately told me off 'because then the staff will not know who the guests are'. The music was also so loud the wall was shaking in my room, and we were 6 girls stuffed into a tiny room with no space for our stuff or to hang clothes. Won't be staying here again.

It Looked safe. People left phones on their beds... But I had a New pair of Ray Ban Sunglasses Stolen from my open Bag. They were their Case. They were "Prescription Lenses"... Worse yet,,, the Staff and Guests were catching "Dengue Fever" from Mosquitos.

The hostel is good located. The Room was dark and small (6 dorme). No extra space for luggage. The vibe was not cool. There is no cool chillout area. Just a pool which is public and shared with a diving school. So you don’t know, who is a guest from the hostel and who’s not. Wouldn’t reccomend sorry. There are many better hostels around.

Strengths: Super nice facilities, great location, great staff, cool diving school inside, lots of bathrooms 🚻, quiet more mature guests. Weaknesses: THEY TURN OFF THE AIR-CONDITIONING IN THIS 90 DEGREE WEATHER, rendering a room you paid for almost impossible to sleep in till night time, expensive bar, no free towels, you have to smoke outside the gate, you can't bring your own alcohol. Fyi in developed countried, it's a health violation to not provide Air and Cooling in this kind of heat.

Terrible experience. At first looked nice, but things went downhill very quickly. Private room, shared bathroom. Nothing private about it. There was a wooden door, that did not connect all the way to the ceiling leading to the dorm beds and kitchen. Every slam of a door or conversation felt like it was in our room/ it allowed mosquitoes in. There was incredibly loud music until at least 2am. No tp in bathrooms. A cloud of smoke every time we walked out. No quiet hours. No rest. We left early.

I stayed at this hostel and I have to say that the cleanliness was really lacking. I didn't realize it at first, but when I flipped my pillow, I discovered it was very dirty. Worse yet, I even found a cockroach in my room. There is not really any privacy since there are only bunk beds for sixteen people. The staff is friendly, but the cleanliness issues, like my stained sheets, are a big problem. I can't recommend this place until they improve it.

Amazing hostel! Clean, comfy beds and air conditioning in the bathroom!! And very lovely and helpful staff. Felt like home from the first second.

Nice hostel with helpful and kind staff. Pool is really enjoyable. Bathroom is not mixed (and is clean),only negative point there no curtains for the beds.

I spent four days at the hostel and I must say it's an amazing place! Excellent location, very close to Fifth Avenue and a part of the beach that I really liked, super clean, friendly and attentive staff, extremely pleasant atmosphere. One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in.

no atmosphere when I was staying as it was very quiet. I didn't like the bathroom as you could almost see over the toilet cubicles and they had huge gaps down the side and then middle, so no privacy in the bathroom. nice pool and good location, good for one night. also no privacy curtains on the beds in the girls dorm.

I wouldn't recommend staying in the 16 bed dorm, it can get hot and smelly. I changed and stayed in the female dorm and had nothing to fault! I kept coming back each visit, it feels super comfy. Like home.

Location is great and one of the cleanest hostels I’ve stayed at. Beds have no curtains and light but everything else is great

Can’t recommend this place enough. From the moment I arrived, it felt like home. Cecelia welcomed me like we’d been friends for years — so kind and generous. Shoutout to Elias, who became my best pal in Playacar. I booked 4 nights and stayed 11, which says it all. Clean, chill vibe with just the right pinch of party. Bonus: there’s a dive center in the hostel (Good Vibes Diving). I’ll definitely be back!

Cecilia made my trip. She was front reception but basically ran the place. I would definitely not of enjoyed my stay there as much if it weren’t for her. The property was great though. Would recommend!

Wasn’t the most active or engaging socially (coming from a 22 yr old kiwi keen to party & make new friends to do daytime activities with). Although, this has probably been one of the nicest hostel in terms of facilities. The showers, swimming pool and seating were so nice. Couldn’t find much reason to use the hostel bar because not much was happening (Friday night too). Lady at the front desk was amazing

Enjoyed my stay here and is a little off the main strip, it seems a place more for chill out than parties and I guess the atmosphere was on the strip rather than at the hostel, I never done it but it seems they had some GREAT scuba tours constantly going on with learning in the pool which is a plus for anyone wanting to learn, staff very friendly, I wish the beds had curtains as this would of raised my score a little although i did know this before booking and used a sheet instead

This hostel was just okay. The staff were fine, but Cecelia was amazing and honestly the only reason I gave this place an 8. The facilities were okay, the bathroom doors barely felt like doors, and there were no curtains in the shared rooms for privacy like at Che Hostel. It also felt like the hostel catered to one specific group of people who were there mainly to socialize or party. If you’re more introverted or not from places like Argentina, I’d recommend looking elsewhere (Che hostel).

L'hostal ésta super bien ubicado, a 1 minuto de la 5a avenida y de la playa, a 2 minutos caminando del Walmart y a 3 minutos de la terminal ADO. tiene una piscina hermosa que tampoco los hoteles tienen, las habitaciones están amplias y todas con clima y ventilador. Los colchones están cómodos, y las sábanas limpias y de un buen algodón.Todo el hostal está muy limpio gracias a Lidia. El personal excelente, Secilia y Tomás los mejores! El Sayab siempre es y será mi única casa en Playa de...

Me encantó este Hostel, todo está muy limpio, las instalaciones son lindas y el staff es muy amable. Además, tiene un centro de buceo y una alberca muy bonita. Sin duda, lo recomiendo. Clean, beautiful, with very friendly staff, highly recommended.
