I made a mistake with the booking dates. They are always busy and the booking date would have been a month away but they charged me anyways when it was obvious they'd fill up and wouldn't need compensation.

I only went to the restaurant but it was the worst restaurant experience of my life. The food was not good. The waiters were understaffed. But the worst was that we had to pay before getting the food and then we had to wait for over 30min before getting our change (200vnd). Everybody in the restaurant was waiting for their change and even leaving without it because it took so long. Very unprofessional. Really absurd situation.

We went for breakfast. Didn't worth it. Lame coffee, and very very poor. They claimed to be a buffet and we didn't ask more, in the end it was buffet only a faw things, and the "main course" was a piece of bread with half a slice of cheese and a bit of egg.

Avoid if you are travelling by bike!! We arrived at hostel 9pm to get verbally abused by several different neighbours to the hostel who clearly have issues with a hostel being next door. The staff directed up to parking who refused us entry despite allowing other bikes to park, back at hostel they offered us overnight parking which cost nearly same as the room. I can see why people like this hostel, it’s very clean and social. The breakfast is very western, I wish it had been more traditional Vietnamese. I went on the walking tour which was kind of disappointing. We were taken to a market, the train station and train street. It seemed to be more about getting a good photo, not much information was given about the city’s history or culture. I wanted to like this place so badly. But from the moment we arrived we were ridden with bad things. The first night the alarm on the door to our dorm would not stop going off & we had to get the staff 3 times to fix it. The hostel atmosphere is great. I initially booked for three days, but extended one more day as I was feeling like at home. The stuff is very nice, specially Nancy and Billy. Stayed at Old Quarter View Hostel for three nights and had a great experience. The hostel is very well run—clean, comfortable, and with a welcoming, social atmosphere. I’ve stayed at Old Quarter View multiple times, and it continues to be the best hostel in Hanoi for me. Wow. I’m in shock at how good my experience was at this hostel. A true wonder. Incredible service and ambiance. Beautiful interior and the AC in the rooms is perfect. They clean everyday and there’s a great menu and bar with cheap food and drinks but high quality! I did a local food market tour and cooking activity with Billy and he was truly incredible. Sociable, funny, responsive and he made our group feel so safe. Thanks a lot Billy and thank you quarter view hostel!!!
