Gava Hostel

I had an interesting experience at Gava Hostel. It had a great location, but it felt more like an AirBnB with hosts sharing the space. There were issues with hot water and someone sleeping in the communal area, which was meant for relaxing with other travelers. The abundance of rules, akin to a resort, was off-putting, and the hosts' passive-aggressive behavior made it uncomfortable. Improved communication and customer service skills are needed to enhance the experience.

Let be honest, this isn’t a hostel - it’s a flat with 2 IKEA bunk beds in the spare room. The hosts were lovely, but there were weird rules like lights out at 10, and ridiculous markups on everything booked through them. For example, they tell you Uber won’t take you from the airport to the “hostel” so you need to pay $35 through them - I got an uber for $10 no prob. They also marked up the day trip I booked through them by 15%. Very nice couple, but it felt like I was getting squeezed...

Cet hébergement est parfait pour les voyageurs qui cherchent le calme et la tranquillité. Attention il y a des règles à respecter ce qui te limite dans l'hébergement. The host was great and kind. Property was clean and well maintained. However the heat was too much to bare and I couldn’t live there beyond one night. I was forced to book a hotel with air conditioning for myself. The fans provided were inadequate for the heat in the room, else I don’t have any other complaints.

It’s not a Hostel it is actually an apartment with one shared bedroom. The price is extremely high for what you get. There’s no AC, which makes it extremely hard to be in the Apartment or to sleep. The mattress was the worst I’ve ever slept on in my entire life. I prefered to sleep on the ground. The only really good thing is that although the accommodation is not really nice, it is very clean at least

No me gustó mucho la verdad tiene buena ubicación pero los dueño o los que administran están ahí mismo y son pasando todo el tiempo al frente de la habitación y es incómodo y no dejan que cierren la puerta .

I arrived pretty late to the property which may have been the issues with finding it initially. It’s in a residential apartment building. My stay was great but kinda difficult or confusing really to find it late at night.

This is less of a hostel and more of a spare bedroom with bunk beds. Although the couple that run the hostel were charming on our last day when we checked out, they made the stay feel like we were in a boarding school with many rules. They also charged us a $25 fine for checking in at 10pm (the check-in runs until 9pm). This seems extremely excessive, although I understand that the house rules state check-in until 9pm. Also, the beds are very uncomfortable, and the rooms are very small

Simply a lovely place. Great people, great vibes, and a perfect location for a complete Dominican experience. Vale and Andrei were always kind and willing to help make your trip even better.

Great Host and location…only stayed one night but 100% recommend. Definitely going back again in the future ✨

Awesome place to stay in punta cana! Would stay here again! Sadly had to cut my trip earlier than planned.

It was such a pleasure staying with this couple! They were very warm and welcoming. The location is a short walk from the beach and just around the corner from various establishments, and the space itself was clean and cozy. It's quite intimate as everything is on the ground level, and as a solo female traveler, I just warn women that you will likely be catcalled as you walk to and from the beach, but the hostel itself is gated and feels safe.

Soy Mexico y estuve un par de días en el hostel , me parecio muy limpio y tienes todo , playa a 2 min caminando , tiendas donde puedes comprar alimentos sin gastar mucho , restaurantes, farmacia , comida deliciosa. Definitivamente regresaría al hostel . Gracias Velentina ❤️eres muy agradable.

I had a lovely two nights at Gava Hostel. The owners, Valentina and Andrew, are very sweet people and always available for questions and concerns, via WhatsApp and in person. There is a camera monitoring the front door and it feels very safe. There is only one room with four bunk beds which is nice to get to know the other travellers. The lockers provide plenty of space for your valuables. Pro tip: Bring USD cash to pay for extra services (towel, late checkout, airport transfer, tours..)

Everything is great with this hostel! Sparkling clean, 3 minutes walk to the beach, secure, very easy and friendly communication. Just be aware that they charge extra (and it is not cheap) for leaving the bags. But understandable after you see how everything is at Europe prices in Punta Cana. Very much recommended!

One of the smallest hostels I’ve ever stayed in but the people I met there on my 8 day stay was just amazing!! From the hosts themselves to the solo travelers! Got really close to them and now made long distance friendships! Place was clean and close to the beach which i loved a lot! Made a lot of new faces on the excursions and beach as well. My experience there was top tier!! If I ever go back to the DR, I’ll be staying there again!! So I highly recommend this place

I LOVE THIS HOSTEL 💖 The hosts are AMAZING. So so so sweet. They welcomed me with open arms, made me feel so comfortable, and helped me figure out lots of logistics for my trip. They had great tips too. The space was very clean and the bed comfy. I felt very safe! I will be coming back! Thank you guys for being so warm and lovely. This was the best start to my trip. I miss you guys already!!

Andrew and Valentina are most gracious hosts. The accomodation is cozy but kept clean. The location is a few minutes walk to the beach and there is plenty of beach to walk up and down once you get there. There is a small grocery store nearby or you can pick from many different restaurants within walking distance. If you want to do something other than sit on the beach all day, they have trip options available to pick from. GAVA hostel is definitely worth considering.

Truly enjoyed my stay at GAVA! The facilities were always clean. Valentina is so kind and helpful. The hostel is a short walk from the beach, restaurants and stores. So much more affordable than the resorts.
