Disappointing in many ways so I nearly gave them the lowest possible rating on this app (which is 2/10, zeros are not an option).
I think this hostel is overpriced for what it is. I did not like the fact there was a kitchen and dining area right outside our bedroom. I felt uncomfortable when I wanted to brush my teeth at the sink with people cooking and socialising just around me. Of all the hostels I stayed in Japan, this one I liked the least.
Owner tries to ask more money than stated online if you book in person. You get no towel, dorms were basic, communal area closes at 23:00 because owner wants to sleep. Could be a nice hostel but the owner ruins it.
Really nice smaller intimate hostel. Very nice staff and owner. Clean. Moved to a different hostel because the price jumped from 16 to 21 overnight during off season. Kitchen cooking closes at 11am till afternoon, a bit inconvenient. But I liked the hostel.
Thank goodness i only stay in this hostel for over night as i needed to catch the train the next day which is right next to it do you will be hearing the train at night but definitely wont recommend it for more than that
This is a great hostel to stay in to meet people, everyone was really friendly and staff are helpful. The room was quite cramped for 6 people and one of our beds had broken so was just a mattress on the floor which was disappointing for the price but we still had a comfortable stay.
Would not recommend. Cleanliness, facilities and staff were extremely poor. Train line is right next to accom so can hear it when you sleep.
I stayed there for 6 Nights, the room they pur me In was very cramped, but worst oft all, ohne of the staff slept in the same room ans that guy kept SNORING every Night!!! I would Not really recommend this Hostel.
I got the ground bed
it was a little pricey, and one of the bunk beds was on the floor (take note, there were 3 bunk beds on the room, and just my bed was on the floor)

It was a nice place, with a decent lounge to chill out in, comfy beds, and nice showers, and it's very close to the station. (Railway lines are just over the road, but they don't run all night) The staff would say hello but not much else, which is disappointing considering the reviews this place has for the staff. The only things that let this pace down were there's no locks on the room doors, and that you had to pay for a security locker of ¥1000.

The staff were nice, place was clean, and in fairly good location; but the aura was off. I think the building was a previously a dentist or doctor’s office, and it still gave off that feeling. While there is technically a lock on the door, it is just a formality. Guests are not given any way of opening it, so for staying in the dorm it stays unlocked at all times; which was not my favorite thing. As an extra kick after learning about the lock situation you also have to make your own bed.
The hostel was really good and the staff were very helpful, welcoming and friendly. Located near the train station which makes it easy getting into Kyoto. Maybe not the most sociable but overall I really enjoyed and appreciated my time here.
I really enjoyed my stay and the staff really accommodating and friendly. My only issues were with the property itself, having to carry bags upstairs and the room is too small to open a large suitcase inside. If you’re travelling with a backpack, though it is perfect. I would stay again in different circumstances
The people working there we’re really nice and it’s a good place to meet other travelers. Really recommend!!
good place to stay. staff were friendly and cool to hangout with
Essam and his staff (Sylvia when I was there) are what makes this place special. They are so welcoming and easygoing, and have great recommendations. I didn’t spend much time at the hostel (out and about) but the time I did it was quiet, clean, and comfortable.
I really liked this place. Super close to the JR line and also there are bus stops around the Hostel so if you are using Kanasi 1 or 2 day pass you can just walk from the bus stops. Super quiet, the whole neighborhood was quiet and safe to walk. There are restaurants and also 7-11 in few meters. The owner was able to give me a early check-in which was nice. I would recommend stay here and visit Osaka and Nara. I did the same. Oh they also have a working kitchen, which was amazing.
This was the best hostel I have ever stayed at in my life. The only critique I have is I wish they had a couch in the lounge area for more comfortable seating.
lontano dal centro però collegato bene con i bus se però perdi l'ultimo devi prende un taxi o farti una bella camminata molto simpatico il proprietario mi ha dato molti consigli non è uno hostell dove si conosce molta gente però tranquillo lo raccomando
from the center but well connected with the bus if however I miss the last one you must take a taxi or take a nice walk very nice the owner has given me many tips not it is a hostel where you know a lot of people but it is quiet far away I recommend it
The owner is a absolute sweetheart who really does care about the happiness and wellbeing of his guest
Great property, amazing location. Hard thing is no elevator but kind enough to help with luggage.

A pleasant hostel with very friendly staff. Definitely would recommend if you’re visiting Kyoto on a budget. There is a train station and a busstop within a stone’s throw. The roof terrace is also very nice when the sun’s out!
2 min walk from JR station. All facilities are very clean (rooms, showers, kitchen, toilets), good temperature in the room, comfortable beds. Coffees, restaurants, convenient store, laundry nearby. I think it is expensive for an hostel, but it is the avarage cost of hostels in Japan.
El personal es muy amable y hay un gran ambiente. Por el precio esta mas que bien!
The staff is very friendly and there is a great atmosphere. for the price it is more than good!
I arrived with injuries in both knees, and the staff tried to help as much as they could especially the owner of this guesthouse, he is adorable, very accommodating and kind. Unlike other guesthouses/hostels, where they tried to take advantage of my situation to scrape more money and didn’t help at all, this place truly stands out. I highly recommend it!
Super friendly staff - the guy is from England and the girl is from Germany. They'd give you a warm welcome, make you feel like staying at home, and tell you what to do in Kyoto :) This hostel provides a free locker, which is not available in other places. The place is super clean, with a big kitchen. Will come back again!
The owner Essam was very genial and offered plenty of suggestions for activities in town. The roof was also a wonderful spot to have a drink before bed. A really great spot!
