Aviemore Youth Hostel

Price far too high

Friendly atmosphere but looking tired and needing some upgrades/refreshing as it still feels like an 1980s era hostel. There are other better options for this area.

Very good experience over all great staff and location, however a couple of issues were noted by the group. Firstly, the door was never locked during our stay over night so the security was lessened and this was exemplified by an issue on the last night of our stay. Secondly, the washing facilities did not exist for guests as they were used by the hostel for washing bed linen, perfectly understandable as they were not facilitated with the correct machines to deal with the loads they were doing.

Great hostel with a large clean kitchen. Great location within walking distance into Aviemore and access to trails. A little dated but clean and functional.

Great overall. PROS: Massive kitchen, clean bathrooms/showers, really nice and helpful staff. CONS: This is not a youth hostel and you should not be advertising it this way. This is the oldest demographic I've ever seen in a hostel. While clean, the showers are really poorly designed with no shelves or anywhere to put your stuff so you have to balance your clothes on the edge of the sink and put your soap on the shower floor. The dryer also left my clothes damp even with only half a load.

Great location with clean facilities. Secure bike storage too. Would like to see more en-suite options but will definitely use again.

It’s a very big hostel and I feel like that takes the cozy vibe away that you get at some other hostels. But it’s clean, staff is very friendly and many options for hiking and the bus/train station are close by. The bunk beds are squaky, so bring your earplugs :)

3rd year in a row staying at Aviemore Hostel, and we will be returning next year! Fantastic hostel with brilliant facilities, clean, and well maintained. Couldn't recommend it enough.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The hostel was very clean and spacious. The living room area was really pretty and the location was at the base of a beautiful hike. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was great too.

really i dont think a hostel gets better, great facilities, great staff and a perfect location!

I’m sure I’ve written this already. But thanks…. A wonderful adventure of spirit that pervades this hostel perched by a wondrous mountain. I think the calibre of the hikers and adventurers who came to stay at your welcoming hostel are a reflection of the hospitality and generosity that all the staff’s care and respect extended to all.
