Stray Cat Hostel

The location is good, as the bus station is within walking distance, but that’s the only positive. The rooms were dirty and there was mold on the ceiling. Cats are everywhere — one was even lying on my bed when I arrived. I like cats, but not in the bed where I’m supposed to sleep. Some of the staff were unfriendly. Overall, the hostel is very run-down and does not match the pictures at all.

Especially this app charged me and they canceled my reservation at 12/00 am, I had to look for another place with children and a 2-year-old baby very bad service from this app and Stay Cat

Das Hostel ist okay für 1-2 Nächte nach Ankunft. Allerdings finde ich den Shuttle überteuert (habe ihn gebucht aufgrund später Ankunft und Sicherheit) und das Hostel nimmt 10% Kreditkarten Gebühr und rechnet Dollar in Colones mit 590 um, anstatt mit 500. Am besten zahlt man also in Dollar, wenn man diese hat, denn nur so zahlt man, was man auch tatsächlich zu zahlen hat.. finde ich leider sehr schade, dass das Hostel über solche Wege Geld verdienen möchte.

They overcharged me, even more than it said on the hostel world app. After asking why they charged me more they wanted to „explain“ that there is an extra fee, which nobody else but me paid wtf. Had no choice but wouldn’t go there again. Stinky rooms only the cats were very cute

As in whole Costa Rica it's a pity prices are in USD and rip-off cross-rates are used if you have to pay in local currency CRC.

There was a break in the night we were in the hostel. This woke everyone in the hostel up and the women who broke in was screaming for hours in the hostel and wouldn’t leave. We felt very scared for the night and ended up leaving at 5am because of this.

The welcoming was so condescending, hypocritical and woke that make me and idea about how awful was the rest, and it was confirm. That place is really highly not recommended.

Absolutely disgusting I would never go back

If you have a bus close by the next day it‘s fine, breakfast starts early thats cool, stuff was nice I didn‘t feel very comfortable there because of the worn out mattresses, the traffic noise and all the travellers are constantly on their way, no place to relax

The hostel was fine. The cat was cute, but the mattress was really uncomfortable and there was no fan in my room so it was quite hot. Free breakfast was nice and they actually make it for you!

Es gibt wirklich Katzen die überall sein dürfen. Wir haben uns wohlgefühlt und hatten alles was man braucht.

Great place with all the facilities you may need, warm shower, breakfast included, few minutes away from the bus station and friendly and helpful staff.

good location if you are onward travelling and need to use the bus terminal. area around hostel is unsafe slightly at night but door to hostel is locked so felt safe once inside (but that’s just big city’s for you). breakfast was included which was nice. i was unable to make the shower hot same with my friend but that could’ve just been us. great for a short stay for convenient travel!! amazing safe so helpful and kind

Great location for bus stations but further from interesting parts of the city and neighbourhood not really walkable at night (although we felt fine walking to nearby pizza place). Staff friendly and helpful with advice for onward travel. Only one actually hot shower! Included breakfast was good

A clean and beautifully decorated hostel. The staff was really nice, the free breakfast was awesome. And if you are travelling by bus, the location is perfect!

Enkel mijn bed specifieke matras was iets minder. Verder heel fijn verblijf gehad. Ik ben dol op katten , enorm pluspunt ☺️

Great hostel! Loooved the free breakfast and coffee! Lovely staff and the atmosphere is amazing, especially with the cats walking around! Like others said kinda sketchy neighbourhood, but close to the bus terminals and you can easily take an uber wherever you want for a small cost. Felt perfectly safe at the hostel. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the city!

Loved this hostel thanks to the loveliness of the staff and the cuteness of the three cats. Shoutout to mister Stinky! Shower was super cold tho, which was a bit of a bummer after a long day of travel. Mattress what a bit too thin too, but it’s ok for one night. Overall it’s a nice hostel for a night before or after a flight! Bus station is around the corner as well which is super convenient! Breakfast included is good too

Fabulous hostel. The niche cat theme of this hostel is done very well. There are three lovely cats that live in the hostel that are very friendly and you can play with. Very unique experience and would return!

Nice hostel to spend a night there, but very general facilities and rooms. Would always recommend for a night or two but not longer!

Super sauberes und schön gestaltetes Hostel! Es riecht gut, die drei Katzen haben sichergestellt, dass ich gut schlafe und die Zimmer sind sehr schön. Mit einem Uber auch super erreichbar, die Gegend ist nur leider etwas gefährlich um abends alleine spazieren zu gehen aber das ist in den meisten Orten der Stadt so. Zu zweit kein Ding. Würde auf jeden Fall gerne wiederkommen!

Enjoyed the free breakfast. Small but enjoyable. Not much to do around the hostel. Staff were friendly. Beds a big uncomfortable. Cats were cute but don’t stay if you don’t like them roaming around

Stray cat was the perfect stay for me short visit to San Jose. I needed just a few hours stay and it delivered on safety, the host was more then helpful and literally amazing at making me feel welcomed and giving information .

The staff are so lovely and the free breakfast is delicious!

Für eine Nacht in Ordnung. Die Gegend ist nicht die schönste, dafür nah am Busbahnhof. Gut war das Frühstück, dass ich leider nicht vertragen habe. Zimmer war vollgestellt mit den Rücksäcken, weil sonst nirgendwo Platz war. Das sorgte für Unordnung und nachts bin ich fast gestolpert. Bett war leider auch ungemütlich.

nice location if you're going to catch a bus or experience San Jose chaotic vibe. Really nice staff, maybe you should start with shoe free zone when entering the property because it's all indoor property makes it more clean.

Très bon rapport qualité prix et le petit déjeuner est super ! Endroit propre, spacieux et agréable pour se poser ou pour une nuit de passage. Mention spéciale à Jenn et Michelle qui ont rendu mon séjour encore plus agréable ! Des amours !
