281 Kandy City Hostel

They do NOT have air-conditioning as it says in their description. We booked and came there, then at site we canceled because of this, they said they have air-condition i one rooms, but who knows...

Do not book: This hostel fails to complete the first and most essential objective of any hostel, that is being open. This place isn't open anymore but they didn't think to tell any of the third party platforms still taking bookings on their behalf (or people like myself with existing reservations) I showed up to see shut roller doors, called the number by the door, was told it was closed due to lack of business. Do not book.

Not best location.

The room was overall clean but half of the lights didn’t work and it smelled funny… They said a twin bed but it was two singles pushed together that kept sliding apart all night. The staff wasn’t really available. When we asked for help with a taxi to the airport they gave us a price almost double anywhere else (15,000 rupees) The laundry is extremely expensive (850 rupees per kilo) and the nearest laundromat is a 15 min walk away.

My dorm was full of mold, the air was very humid and had a strong, musty smell of mold. When I asked if I could switch to a private room because of this, the staff was completely unhelpful and showed no understanding at all. In the end, I had to pay double for the last night. I find that very rude. On top of that, there were several cockroaches in the private room. I would not recommend this place!

It was a “meh” experience, too bad we were the only ones there. With all rooms available we also got one near the construction site so a lot of noise. We booked for two nights but left after the first to another hostel with more backpackers. I couldnt fall asleep here. No AC , only ceiling fan.

No ventilation in private rooms, fresh air almost impossible

Its in the middle if the city. U can reach everything by foot. I booked a 14 Dorm bedroom so i can hangout with ppl but i was the only one in that room for 4 days. Everything else was lovley its just not social at all.

Man hört alles was auf dem Flur passiert und eine gute Nacht zu haben ist quasi unmöglich. Komischer Chef hat uns jedes Mal gefragt ob wir das Hostel jetzt verlassen wenn wir gehen wollten und in unserem Fenster zum Flur war eine Schere eingeklemmt, sodass man es von außen noch öffnen konnte obwohl es von innen abgeschlossen war. Luft im Zimmer war extrem schlecht, da man nicht lüften konnte.

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was okay. There was no atmosphere or social apsects to the hostel. It was a little far from the central part of Kandy, and we found the staff to not be very welcoming.

The hostel is super nice and quiet for if you wanna be in the city and experience but still be able to relax. The kitchen and sowers are really good and bad very comfy:) The workers are the nicest and helpful and try to help you figure out what to do in the city ❤️

This hostel is absolutely superb, the staff are friendly, helpful, full of local knowledge and go the extra mile. The facilities are cleaned daily.

Good location, not far walk from bus or train station, good comfy rooms

Great hostel! Staff very friendly and the rooms were a good size for two people (private room). Easy to get to, 15 minute walk from Kandy bus station. Complimentary tuk tuk - Dammika is an amazing driver!! Friendliest person ever, great stop off points and would have him drive us every time. Also drove us to Ella in his car :)

If you need a bed in a good location in Kandy, this is a decent one

Top transithostel, goede locatie en proper. Mutty is een topkerel! We zijn 3 dagen gaan hiken in de Knuckles en konden onze spullen achterlaten. Bij terugkomst mochten we douchen en alles drogen voor ons vertrek dezelfde dag!

The location was quite handy being 20 minutes walk from the train station. the room had good a/c and was clean enough with plugs. the bathrooms were fine and there was a kitchen area, although not much seemed to work in there, it was a nice bonus. the front door was left open a couple of times but we had locks on our room so felt safe enough here. pretty much everything we wanted out of a hostel, didnt see the atmosphere but heard people having a laugh so thats something

Ein schönes Hostel nahe am Bahnhof und inmitten vom quirligem Kandy gelegen. Der Besitzer ist sehr nett und herzlich. Auf der Etage, in der ich geschlafen habe, waren drei Bäder, zwei Balkone, eine gut ausgestattete Küche. Alles war sauber.

We verbleven hier 1 nacht zodat we de trein naar Ella konden nemen. Het hostel zit dicht bij het station, op loopafstand. De kamer was prima. Het geluid van arriverende en vertrekkende treinen gaat wel de hele nacht nog door. Oordoppen in doen is daarom een must. Het personeel is erg aardig

The hostel was clean and the room had a very good ventilator. The only thing i disliked were the bathrooms, it was smelly inside and very moist. The bathroom itself was very clean and renovated.
