Avoid this hostel if you can. I’m not very high maintenance, but not only is Ao Nang itself just very touristy but nobody was around in this hostel. By far the worst hostel I stayed in during all of my travels. Across the street there are 2 places that play super loud music until the early morning hours every day so sleep is difficult. The hostel is very dirty, dirty water would come up the drains in the showers and the showers would flood every time. One of the toilets had vomit splatters for 3 days with noone cleaning them. Was placed on a top bunk with a beam running through the centre of my bunk, was unable to sit up, and hit my head more than once during my 4 night stay

The hostel was okay but they ripped me off when i left. I booked transfer from the hostel to Koh Phi Phi. The van came and picked me up and dropped me off at the wrong pier. I almost missed my boat and it was the last boat that day so i had to pay 1500 bath to race to the other pier which was 20 min away. I e-mailed the hostel about this and never got an apology and never got my money back…

We stayed here during low season. It was affordable but made sense on the price. The food gave us food poisoning, my bed had bugs in it, and our rooms got cleaned only once, we got told our transport bus would be a lie down bus to go to our next destination but was a small van. And the owner was stoned all the time.

Sometimes no water in the bathrooms. Climbing to the upper beds felt like bouldering, you need to be very tall or gymnastics level flexible. Showers and bathrooms are so small, pictures aren't realistic. WiFi doesn't work in the dorms.

It felt like this hostel was made for tall people. It was difficult for me to climb into the upper bunk, and getting down was a challenge—I had to jump. The bathroom had no hook or place to put my hygiene organizer, just one hook that was way too high for me to reach. There was no place to hang my clothes or anything else either.

I booked a girls only dorm expecting to be able to meet some nice girl friends, got there super antisocial hostel and in our room there were two staff members living in the room which we were not made aware of. Made us feel very uncomfortable as if we were intruding someone else’s space. Also ladders way too high, I sprained my ankle getting down as the bottom step was in line with my hip and I’m 5”6. We weren’t allowed to control the aircon in our room either.

This hostel was ok. The only nice thing was how helpful and kind the staff were. Otherwise, in my experience, there was no atmosphere (very few solo travelers, only friend groups), and the place was 30 minute walk away from the center/beach. The bathrooms also could’ve been cleaner 😖 The beds though were clean. The worst part though was the bar across the road playing loud music until like 2am, it felt like it was in the room with us

We were so disappointed with our stay here for so many reasons. Staff were rude and not accommodating or understanding whatsoever. Not a friendly atmosphere. The place is falling apart and actually felt dangerous to be in - the lights flickered, the sockets smelt of smoke when in use, and the curtains in the dorms were falling off their hooks/missing hooks. Curtains don’t close due to a pillar running in the middle of the ceiling of some of the dorms, also meaning that you have no head room.

I’ve been to ao nang 4 times now and I’ve tried almost every hostel in the area. I have to say this is the best hostel here by far. Whether you like to just chill smoke and socialize or party hard this hostel is the perfect mix between a chill/party hostel. Grand time at Hangout, helpful staff to show how I can get around Ao Nang, clean facilities and the pool was great touch to have especially on such hot days.

We dachten lekker sociaal hostel maar er was bijna niemand. Wel schoon. Sociaal verwelkomd. Een nachtje 3 andere meisjes in onze kamer van 8 en één bed dat helemaal een silk lakenhoes had maar geen persoon erop. En er waren intens veel make-up spullen in de algemene kamer kluisjes opgeborgen dus we vermoedden dat er iemand woonde? Geen idee. I based my ratings of quality based on the price of stay. This is a nice place if you don’t mind walking 20 mins to the beach and further for the market. I was fine with location because I did day trips and was picked up. You have a room key but no one locks the door. I felt safe and they did have a security guard and locked up at night. The staff are very nice and helpful with booking transfers and laundry.

Nice hostel if you just want a chill vibe. One of the best hostel beds I have had on this trip! Nice with pods so you get a lot of privacy. Not really a social hostel but that’s also up to you. I saw that they had pub crawl one night. A 20 min walk from the beach and a bit hilly but you can always get a grab. Overall so worth the cheap price and all the facilities where super good! Very modern and fresh! I enjoy my stay:)

Good hostel for the price. Beds comfortable and relatively private. Showers were nice, didn’t have issues with waiting while we were there. However the bar crawl wasn’t the best, if you’re going for any social aspect the hostel itself doesn’t do much to create an atmosphere. Then drops you at nomads 2.5 hours after their starting drinks so you feel a bit left behind. Hostel is relatively far from the beach, but if you’re not looking for the social side is completely fine.

I loved The Hangout! It was the perfect atmosphere for a well balanced social hostel. The staff and owner are so lovely and makes sure your stay is great! I loved that for there were female only section for showers/toilets that were cleaned so regularly! The food is so well portioned and tasty so it was so handy to have a kitchen/bar at the hostel! I had a great time here . I was apprehensive to stay in a hostel but the hosts were great and the whole environment was great. Good water pressure in the showers , comfortable bed with socket , full bar and food … but what’s great is the range of stuff available for me to do. The owner was great in curating my trip and giving me the best spots to visit including recommending tours and nights out. All in all I would recommend . Can’t say there is anything I was unhappy about

I have stayed here multiple times now and it is always improving ! The pool is nice to cool off in and chill. The sound system is always playing nice music . Most importantly the people around are amazing, the staff and guests that stay here are a very accepting and fun crowd. I will stay here anytime I'm in the area and always recommend my friends do the same!

This was my first hostel and it was amazing! Met a lot of new friends and the staff were very helpful and kind! I had the time of my life here and the pool was very nice and refressing! Would definitely stay here again! Ao Nang is very pretty and a nice city

The hostel has very good facilities, the showers are nice and the beds very comfortable (even though they are a bit small). The environment is chill, you can party if you want but you can also just rest. They have activities everyday that seemed fun (didn't do any, but seems nice). There is a big storage inside the room where you can lock your bags.

Amazing hostel..everything was clean with nice beds full bar and restaurant downstairs and the vibes were very social. Max and Andrew were both very welcoming and super helpful with everything! Definitely recommend

someone pissed on my bag here and in the middle of the dorm. the staff were really helpful in terms on cleaning it up. however i wish they would’ve done more like kicked the guy out. luckily we were able to switch rooms. the two hostel reps were super cool though, athena and megs, very hospitable and friendly. they gave good tips on where to go, and made the rest of my trip fun. the beds are quite small but wasn’t a big deal for us and the facilities are good!

Nice hostel. Not social at all but it’s close enough to the beach (6min bolt or 25 min walk) and the markets to make it a comfortable location. The staff were helpful and everything was clean. The beds were comfortable. The only thing that bothered me a bit was that the AC and fan were really loud during the night. Other than that everything was fine.
