Feel Osaka Yu

Cleanliness is fine, but the invasion of privacy at this place is insane. They have cameras (With Facial Recognition, which they don't tell you) EVERYWHERE, including the bedrooms and shower area. There are 3 at reception alone. They also take a picture of you without getting consent at checkin. The cameras combined with the enormous deposit, excessive fines for everything and the blatantly predatory policy of charging for late checkout starting after 10:29 means STAY CLEAR.

We asked if our friend who was not staying at the hostel could hang out with us in the common area but they said no and warned us the cameras have ‘facial recognition’ and will call the police if our friend tried to enter, which we found a bit odd. The staff came into our room to ‘check on us’ around 11pm which again, was a bit odd. I've been to 15 countries & over 35 hostels. This is the first hostel I've stayed at that 1/Uses facial recognition software 2/ Makes you check out 10:30am 3/ Charges extra if you stay in the lobby/lounge area post checkout. 4/ Tells people how to"properly" sit on sofas. I along w/ other travelers (males and females of all ages) felt micromanaged/uncomfortable. Despite the decent facilities / location the controlling environment ruins the experience. The owner and the son have to do better.

Overall this hostel is very good. Rooms and beds are clean and comfortable and the people are very friendly and helpful. However, is this worth paying 2x more than any other hostel ? I don’t think so. + it was empty when I was there (too expensive ?) so there was no atmosphere. + I think the whole « you have to pay 500 yen if you check out even just one minute late » thing is ridiculous. + don’t expect to be able to just drop your bag. A bit boring, there’s no vibe

Hostel is in a great location, and it's clean. Staff was nice but I have never felt so nickel-and-dimed by any hostel ever. The late check-in fees were exorbitant. They also don't have complimentary bag storage after checkout, and don't allow you to use the lounge after you check out - unless you pay. Really fantastic hostel, great location, very secure, and I made friends. Customer service is really good too. Special thanks to Kaz for his recommendations, and for his help with so many things, like phoning the post office to check they had international stamps. Genuinely, thank you so much for everything. So great I had to stay another night!

This centrally-located hostel was a great place to stay for a couple of nights in Osaka. The proprietor was very friendly! Would stay here again.

The hosts, Kaz junior, and Kaz senior, are amazing. They provide excellent hospitality, recommendation, and they are so talented with guitar, drum, and piano. The jam night on Saturday night is super dope. And, the other guests are also amazing. All in all, this is THE place to go if you are exploring Osaka.

I really regret that we didn't stay in this longer. The room and facilities were immaculate. The hosts are attentive and nice. The music room is super cool. Highly recommend staying!

Super clean and peaceful place to stay, great location :) Kaz was super welcoming! If you play an instrument or just like music be sure to go to the weekly jam session :)

A fantastic family-owned and operated hostel. Great location, and Kazu has many great recommendations for restaurants. The lounge area was a great hangout spot. Saturdays night jams were a lot of fun. The team are great people and very helpful. Their rules can be summarized as: "Be respectful of our space and the other guests." Their warmth and hospitality truly made it feel like I found a new home in Osaka. I loved it so much I canceled other bookings so I could remain at Feel Osaka Yu!

It’s a really nice location. Maybe 12 min walk to where the bars and clubs are. Kaz is very helpful with recommendations of things to do in the area. They have music nights where they sit in the common area and jam out on the instruments. While I was there, the people weren’t too social but I think it was more the people and not the place. 100% would come back here if in Osaka

Fantastische locatie en Kaz kan je bij alles helpen en vragen beantwoorden. Er zijn veel regeltjes maar niet storend en je moet 10000¥ borg betalen vooraf, dit had ik nog niet eerder gezien. Douche en wasruimtes zijn in de kelder waar het netjes schoon is. Alle deuren gaan open met een tag die je krijgt.

Good location. Unfortunately, I left early on check out day to explore since in-person check out started at 9 and I missed ‘lounge hours’ when I got back at 10:40, I was unable to get a cup of coffee and was charged an additional ¥500 for being past 10:30. Clean rooms, good area. Friendly staff. Not much going on with social hangouts when I stayed on a Tuesday evening, however, I was told there is a fun jazz jam session on weekends. Good value .

It's a great location! Easy to walk to major areas and close to the subway. The man running it was also amazing! 5 stars!

This place was amazing!!!! First, Kaz is awesome!! So kind, helpful, and welcoming. He also has excellent food recommendations. The bed was comfy. The girls dorm was so quiet I didn’t need my ear plugs or eye mask. The bathroom felt like a spa. Heated seat toilets and hair dryers and straighteners! Great shampoo and conditioner! Wow! They even give you a towel and slippers. I couldn’t have been happier! Thank you!

In one word excellent. The music lounge is fantastic. Rooms are clean and super comfortable. Amazing hostel. Also Kaz, the host, is fantastic. Wish I could have stayed longer

Kaz was a tremendous help in every aspect of the stay. Facilities were VERY clean and organized and very secure as everyone who checks in must have facial recognition clearance upon checking in. All in all an incredible hostel to stay at and very close to major sites and bus station. 10/10 recommend and will definitely be staying again for future trips to Osaka.
