Light Hostel Chayi

not the best hostel in taiwan, full of local people who do not have much respect for people sleeping, talking loudly at 12.30 at night total lack of respect then staff making the beds and turning on the lights at 8 in the morning .I stayed for 4 nights and this happened on multiple nights from different guests who all seemed local. so social atmospheric so dont expect to meet any other travellers when travelling solo would only recommend one nights if you have too.

Pictures are a bit deceiving. The 4 beds, female only room I was assigned to was cramped and small with a restroom. The restroom door doesn't close from the outside so when someone finish using the bathroom, the smell will travel into the room. The room was already stuffy but the restroom made it worst. Not clean nor COVID safe. My reservation at Light Hostel was for 2 nights but I quickly booked another hostel and decided to forego the 2nd night.

Annoying lights in dorms

They should offer more female dorms. We had to stay with two older Asian men who were snorring, who didn't close the bathroom door while peeing. We didn't feel comfortable. But place was clean and location is good.

Short walk from the train station. The place is kept clean and tidy. Coin operated washi g machines and dryer are handy. However the sself-catering facilities are not good at all. I couldn't get the cooker to work (maybe you will have more luck !) and there are t much in the way of pans.

Good hostel for a quick stop in Chiayi

10 minute max. walk from the train station, very helpful stuff and clean rooms. Bed was a bit hard. Good for a stay before heading up to Alishan. Social area was quite nice but unfortunately no one down there.

Place was nice, bedrooms and bathrooms were clean, but the kitchen was a bit gross and needs a good deep clean.

The hostel was very nice and conveniently located. Staff were also kind and helpful. However, the rooms are a little strange. 6 bed dorms share one ensuite bathroom, which is very inconvenient in the morning. You can also hear everything that is going on in the bathroom. Beds were okay and huge lockers for backpacks are always great!

5 minutes walk by the train station, excellent for visiting Alishan Park. The staff is helpful but not really welcoming (anyways is very polite and they help you). The common area is big but there were few people.anyway I guess is a good common area when there are some people.The bed is comfortable and clean.The restroom and shower are clean and well working.

The dorms looked kind of new, the facilities have been good and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hostel has an amazing social area (didnt't go up to the kitchen though), but unfortunately no one was there, so don't expect to connect a lot with other people.

Nice hostel if you wanna stay in Chiayi! Close to the train station (and bus to Alishan), clean rooms, friendly staff, well equipped kitchen. It has everything you need!

Nice facilities clean bathrooms/rooms and comfy beds. There’s not much of a social scene and the social areas are very out of the way bur works fine for a night

Gute Hostel für einen Zwischenstopp zum Alishan Forest mit top Lage zum Bahnhof und Restaurants. Late Check-In war auch ohne Probleme möglich. Durch die späte Anreise und früher Abreise konnten wir die Atmosphäre nicht wirklich beurteilen, aber wirkte sehr ruhig.

Nice standard hostel! A bit empty of other travelers but that isnt the hostels fault, nice if you want a clean, quiet, easy spot to get to Alishan ~ 5 minutes from the station :)

Light hostel was very flexible and arranged an alternate check in option for us as we were arriving late. As we arrived late and left early we did not meet any staff, but they were very responsive over the phone. The common area was lovely and it was great to have the option to eat inside or outside. The room was clean and neat and we felt very comfortable. The location was nice, a close walk to the train station and many restaurants and convenient stores within walking distance. Thank you!

Since it is hostel, different people would come, I think it would be nice to have 24 hr service In. Counter like some hostel in Taipei, beside that hostel and staff are very friendly and helpful

Bequemes Bett, Zimmer sauber, Küche sorgfältig ausgestattet. Keine schönen Social Area. Sehr gute Lage!

Perfect option for an overnight stay, or more, when visiting alishan. Couple of great hangout areas. Just no atmosphere. 10 minute walk from train station
