The bathroom was right at my bed. The location is not ideal and they charge you for sheets, which I’m not sure why.
Kinda expensive but get free breakfast and it’s Norway so don’t expect anything cheap
Things were fine and clean enough. The room layouts make absolutely no sense. The hallway light is so bright that everytime someone opens the door, bed 1 gets blasted with light and everytime someone uses the bathroom it’s the same thing. I didn’t get a single full night of sleep. I think a curtain on the beds is a necessity in the layout they use
If you are a backpacker or in your 20-30s don't stay here. Its full of families, highschool groups in school trips and old people
Paid $400 to stay in a “private room” which was just a dorm with no one in it and had someone banging on the door and screaming all night. Worst hostel I’ve ever stayed at
This is the worst hostel I have stayed in. They had a band playing loudly beside my room that went on till 3 AM on Saturday night, i don’t know why I paid to sleep here when I could not sleep due to the noise. I was not informed of this earlier and wasted my money staying here! The room was smelly and dirty and I would not recommend anyone staying there!
Hostel has great views from the mountain top. Hike up Mt Ulriken close by. Free breakfasts are excellent; well-equipped kitchen, a small gym, ping-pong table. Easily reached on a 12 bus from stop S at the bus station. Because they were heavily booked, I had to change from one room to another during my stay; staff insisted they treat each reservation separately, so I had to checkout by 10am, leave my luggage in the store room, and only check into my new room after 3pm. Very expensive!
There is mold in the bathroom. Building is really old, no sound isolation so you can hear everything . The view is nice but is uphill and not easy walk to city center , breakfast was okay not anything special .
Location is AMAZING! Breakfast in the morning is very lovely also. You can store your bags before and/or after check in. Great! The staff was not friendly or helpful at all. Especially the chinese/asian lady was extremely rude and disrespectful. Very unpleasant! They ask money for every little thing. Paying extra for sheets? 😂 Can't use a sleeping bag? I still have to make my own bed even after paying this much money for a hostel? Strange policy!
Okay at best, small rooms, charge for linens, breakfast is only redeeming factor, cool view but not close to much.

would love to visit again and for longer
Enjoyed my days here, specially because it's near the Ulriken hike!... top facilities and staff btw!
Great hostel, safe and good vibes
I really recomended
We stayed one night. Everything was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful, there were a lot of great people staying, too. The hostel has a common room where you can spend some time and chill, as well as a well-equipped kitchen. The atmosphere was nice, the breakfast was delicious. Overall, we’ve had a really pleasant stay at the hostel!
Great environment, great location to hiking, great view
great hostel, beautiful view and surpringly very accessible. They offer a great breakfast and free activities such as indoor skating.
Stayed in a twin private room for 4 nights. The Hostel was clean, situated on a hill overlooking the city (what a view), with a regular bus service to the city centre. Breakfast was continental breakfast, included in the price (which was very competitive). Staff were very helpful and friendly. Hot water always available, rooms heated, comfortable beds - a games room and a kitchen for all to use. All in all, a wonderful experience and I do intend to return.
Great value/performance, plenty of hiking possibilities around.
Overall it was a good hostel. It is a 20 minute drive from the city center which was slightly inconvenient at times but there is public transportation running every 20 minutes so that made it easier. It was slightly less social than I expected but that could just be the time of year I visited.
10/10 hostel. Staffs were helpful, breakfast was decent, room and toilet were clean. Bus stop is 2min walking distance. The best thing is location with a view of the city from above.
Awesome hostel!! Very social, nive guest kitchen, gym, great breakfast and a wonderful location to start your hike from. Would recommend to all outdoorsy people! I met some great people during my stay, thank you Montana hostel! 🙏
The hostel was ok, the view is beautiful and the free Breakfast was nice!
Great location, absolutely picturesque mountain view in the morning and at night. Really helpful staff and volunteers and the facilities were all really good for the price that's paid. Pretty decent breakfast provided as well
One of the best Hostels i have been. Nice atmosphere, events going on, shared kitchen where you could cook in, nice stuff. Easy to meet people all around the world. Safe. With the bus you are in the center in 20 mins. The breakfast included and it was variated and yummy. Shared spaces clean and with environment to socialize.Piano, ping pong, cards. What else may I ask?
It was a good hostel
A wonderful hostel with great facilities, beds are comfy and the kitchen is good. The staff are friendly and the hostel provides a free breakfast for travellers from 7-10am. Located close to Mount Ulriken for a great hike and it's approx 20 minutes from the city centre by bus.
The best blue tour to live in Europe: several public halls, large kitchen ((there is a supermarket not far from the road across the street) ‒ breakfast is plentiful, and free, with unbeatable views. ‒ the coolest thing is, there is an outdoor patio on a hillside, with a view of Bergen. ‒ worth staying again.
HI hostel Montana was better than I ever expected. The entire hostel was cleaned daily, with a free breakfast buffet, and daily events ran by the volunteers. The hostel had a large fully equipped kitchen, a laundry, a gym, and multiple hang-out areas which were great for socialising and meeting new people. Multiple bathroom facilities were available, so I never had to wait for a shower etc. It was a ~20 min bus ride from Bergen centre, perfect for quiet evenings but central enough for exploring.
A lovely hostel! Atmosphere was good and social. The trailhead to one of Bergens most popular hikes is right outside the door so it attracts a hiker crowd. The hostel had a lovely surprise of a free breakfast, probably the best free breakfast I've had at a hostel! The rooms were a bit small (4 person female dorm) but cleaned daily and nice ensuite bathroom. Will be back!
