Tree House Hostel Sigiriya

This place was terrible. The service was bad, the sheets were filthy and I saw multiple rats in my room. The staff is not very helpful. And music is played very loudly until late at night, eventhough there are plenty people who have to get up for sunrise hike. It really disliked my stay, and cancelled after one night. The reviews were so good, so I had high hopes, but I was very disapointed. I rarely leave a review, but it was so bad and unexpected that I thought I had to share.

Not a good experience at all. I came here because of the good recommendations. The place did not offer any lockers even though the description said so, the door to our dorm was always open and also people who already checked out used our bathroom. Therefore this one was not clean as well. As the door did not lock it was open all night long and it gave a very unsafe feeling. Staff wanted to sell and the whole system was very intransprent. Wi-Fi did not work and no connection overall!

Horrible experience!! I don't recommend this place at all. We had a rat in our room and we inform the owner of the place and he didn't do anything about it and the rat ate my bag and my friends bag making a big hole in it. A part from that the service is very slow and the owners of the place they are not nice, speacilly the woman who is always very angry and not helping at all with all the mess they have there. there is no internet and sometimes there is no water, and sigiriya can be very hot.

the Worst hostel I have ever experienced in my life: insects and frogs everywhere even in the shower, no water in the bathroom, services are charged at a very high price, no internet connection, dorms are super dirty and they are to hot even with the ventilation. Do not go there if you don't want to experience a horrible stay

I don’t understand the high ratings for this place. The breakfast and dinner were nice and varied each day, and the staff was very kind. However, the bathrooms were poorly maintained: no toilet paper, unclean, and some flushes didn’t work. The rooms are treehouses with just a tarp, making them very cold at night and uncomfortable for sleeping. Overall, not a comfortable stay despite the meals and staff.

Water was sometimes just off and the plugs in our room werent working which was really inconvenient. Location is also a big problem if you want to go out in sigiriya in the evening as tuktuks dont like going down the road

it was fine but not something i would do again. the rooms didn't feel clean and there were huge holes in the mosquito net over the bed. we booked a room together but were put in separate rooms when we arrived..

This is really staying in the jungle, be prepared. The WiFi did not work at all times. The toilets were not very clean. The 6-dorm is under renovation so we got to stay in a 4-dorm and this tree house was missing a window. 4 people hade 1 small fan to share so it was hot during the night. There is a limited menu for lunch and the dinner starts at 7:30pm which made us very hungry everyday since there’s no restaurants in walking distance. Can’t say I’ve enjoyed the stay First of all I barely got responses when I reached to see is there are any activities in the days I’ve stayed in. The activities (which was a sunset tour and sunrise tour) were nice, however wasn’t notified the jeep drop off was extra and also we had to walk back to the hostel as no one was there to pick up us back. Second - bedsheets are smelly and there was a mouse in the room Third - poor WiFi signal and almost no cell coverage. Other then that...

The staff is really sweet and do everything for you to have a great time. But the owners are a little bit different. I had a lot of stuff on my bill that I didn’t had. When I told them that I don’t wanne pay for it they get mad. Afther almost an our I was done with it and payed. I walked away but one of the other owners waited for me outside of the hostel. He ask me to not talk about this with other people. I felt very unsafe. I had a great time at the hostel but the ending was not good

Really nice hostel. Great spot to relax, and they have activities everyday. The hostel is a bit far from most shops/restaurants, so you do need to walk far or tuk tuk- but you have everything you need without leaving

Because you can’t go outside at nighttime it is really nice that the hostel host so many activities. Everything that there is to do and see in Sigiriya is organized by the hostel.

Amazing hostel with a very social vibe. They offer jeep rides to the morning and evening hike(for free)plus great social events. The free breakfast includes both Western and Sri Lankan options. Family dinner is just 1500 LKR for a buffet—great value. Only downsides: no internet and no AC. Otherwise, highly recommended!

Social but not crazy party vibes, this hostel has been one of my favorites ever. I met people I continued to travel with after checking out. The hostel organizes a sunset & sunrise hike, a trip to the lake, and a safari! I saw 63 elephants on safari. It is a far walk out of town and not near any ATMs. The bathrooms have no hand soap and the rooms were so hot it was hard to sleep. But social vibes and free breakfast were great!

Wonderful jungle experience, you wake up and from your bed you can see lots of different kind of monkeys climbing the trees

Amazing hostel!! The staff set up daily safaris and visits to viewpoints for sunrise and sunset. Delicious breakfast buffet. Family style dinners made for a great social atmosphere and it was nice to hang out and play pool. The dorm rooms do not have AC and there’s just one standing fan, so it gets hot, but the rooms were clean (aside from occasional bugs and geckos) and the beds were comfy. Each person also got a large locker, room to hang stuff and a big shelf.

I really loved my time at this hostel. I was unsure whether to book here or a more expensive option in the same area…. I am so happy I went for this hostel. The staff, facilities and daily activities make it a fun, social place to be.

This hostel is my favourite, i wish i could have stayed longer! Sleeping in the middle of the jungle is priceless and the vibe of the hostel is so familiar. They organize a lot of activities and the food is sooo delicious!

I would highly recommend this hostel! We had an unfortunate situation with the first hostel, which had overbooked us, but Tree House came to our rescue. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming. All the staff are ready to help you. There’s space for relaxing by the pool, but at the same time it’s very social. The staff and the vibe is amazing. There are a lot of insects, because of the location but everything else was perfect. Very organized and breakfast, dinner and also the activities are included.
