The Travellers Hostel

After 6 mths of travelling in Asia, this has been the worst experience in hostels I have encountered. You should know, this hostel has 2 names, The Travellers Hostel and ALSO One More Night. You will likely be bumped to another place and if not you’ll be stuck in shoddy accom anyway. There is no communal toilet so other guests walk through your room to use the toilet all night. The owner, Dill constantly complains about guests to other guests when they raise a genuine issue.Really unprofession...

overall the place just feels run down. Most of the power sockets are broken. in my dorm you have a choice between a hot shower that dribbles on you and a freezing cold shower which actually has some water pressure. bathroom floor was a constant pool of water as the shower didn't drain properly. Paid for aircon, didn't get it. Finally, the beds are about 180cm long, if you're tall you will not fit and will have to thread your foot through a small hole in the foot of the bed to stretch out. Avoid!

We had a private room that smelled pretty moldy. Even now after a few days all my stuff smells like that room every time I open my backpack. Every morning we had to do a small obstacle course through bicycles and motorbikes the neighbors were parking in front of the room. But other than that the room was okay. Everything is a bit botched but it works. The staff was really nice and helpful though and the breakfast was also good.

Lovely staff, a bit far out from the main area and the rocks. Fine for a night or 2 but I wouldn’t recommend longer here. The food was not very good at all, so don’t eat there. Also, it’s the hostel that people go to when Treehouse or Roy’s is full, so it wasn’t very atmospheric!

A good to place to stay.

Awesome hostel, with great breakfasts, great social area and even greater staff. The dorms were comfortable and spacious and the privacy curtains were a nice change! Can't recommend this place highly enough!

Super Social Hostel on the Main Street. The breakfast is amazing. Dorms and bathrooms are pretty basic but the atmosphere is really nice.

Great location, reallt friendly staff and clean comfortable rooms with proper AC. I travelled during the low season and still got to meet a few people there. Dil was really helpful and suuuuper chill, I really enjoyed my time there.

Ich kann das Hostel zu 100% empfehlen. Der Lions Rock ist nur 10 Minuten entfernt. Dil (der Besitzer) ist sehr bemüht und hat mir bei allem geholfen was ich brauchte, Tuk-Tuk, Bus etc. Jeden Morgen gab es ein anderes leckeres Frühstück. Wer ein familiären und entspannten Vibe sucht ist hier genau richtig.

Super chill, social backpacker vibe. We played cards and listened to music all day in between the sunset and sunrise hikes. Sunset hike is not to be missed. Phenom breakfast To know: - 4 bed room’s door has to be slammed to shut. Not a room for light sleepers - only ensuite bathrooms, no common bathrooms - if you get laundry done, make sure you get all you clothes back. Had the best 3 days here (could have stayed longer tbh)! The place is amazing. The owner is such a sweet soul, breakfast is chefs kiss. Don’t miss out, it was so special!

Super hostel for solo travellers. I did some great activities here with other guests. The owner is a great guy who makes a great effort to put on group events and create a community feel.

Great hostel! Dilshar and the rest of the staff are amazing, food too! Also great location, met great people. Dilshar is also very helpful. Highly recommend to stay!

We had such a great time at the travellers hostel! The location is close to Sigiriya’s centre, so you can easily explore the area. Having an en-suite bathroom is a luxury you don‘t always get while backpacking, so we really enjoyed that! The included breakfast was so delicious!! The owner is super nice and we had so much fun hanging around the hostel with him and other guests. If you want to get some recommendations you can always come up to him and he will help you or even organize a safari...

A really great hostel with a chilled out social atmosphere, great staff, comfy beds and delicious breakfast

I had such a good time here and would've stayed longer if I had known how much I was going to enjoy it. Dil was such a great host and really made it a great stay with his good advice and good chats. On top of that, the breakfast was superyummy!

It was the nicest stay ever and the best hostel you could pick in Sigyria! The rooms are quite cute and have curtains! The bathrooms are also alright but what this place makes so special is the staff, especially Dill who makes your stay unforgettable! It felt more like friends hanging out 🫶🏻 also the breakfast is AMAZING! and the atmosphere was great, I wanted to stay even longer!

A true hidden gem! Right by a cute and quiet beach but close to weligama and Ahangama. Got some great sleep here in the comfortable beds and quiet surroundings.

Nice hostel. The staff were really friendly. It's located right on the main road. There was construction noise during the day but overall the hostel is good.

The most amazing friendly staff I’ve ever had at a hostel! Clean, spacious, family feel, great free breakfast, has a guitar, amongst nature. No downsides except WiFi being a bit average sometimes

i am so glad i stayed at this hostel. i started my sri lanka trip here and met so many travellers who ended up being my friends for the rest of the month. the beds are comfy, there are hot showers, and the staff goes above and beyond. the free breakfast was my favorite -- always a wonderful variety. the location is perfectly situated in town.
