Island Vibes

Felt very unsafe from the beginning. Bed sheets were not cleaned the bathroom was disgusting and had few spiders, snails and frogs in it. We stayed two nights and the second night it rained very heavy and in the morning we seen water had come in through the roof, we were glad to be leaving that morning.

The restaurant area is nice, and the staff are friendly. However dont be fooled by the photos of the rooms. We booked a 2 night stay in a private dorm, and were pretty alarmed when we first walked in. The rooms are so hot, with only one fan which is completely useless. The wifi hardly works and regularly in the night they would have power cuts turning everything off. The bathroom was disgusting, you will notice the awful smell when you walk in, there were frogs lizards and bugs, the lighting...

Booked two nights but left after one - bed sheets were dirty af and wet at some spots, -when we arrived we found a sweaty T-shirt + IPhone on the beds from the cleaning ppl -cockroaches, bugs & mosquitoes -we booked a tuktuk from the hostel to go to sigiriya rock… unfortunately the driver was not showing, so we had to wake him up With the vodka bottle in the tuktuk he drove us to the wrong rock… -almost interior (just beds + the fan, which was zero useful) -owner himself was friendly tho

Lo sconsiglio!Sono arrivata e sono caduti dalle nuvole come se non avessi prenotato.Ci siamo spostati nella casa dove vive lo staff a 5 minuti d’auto perché nell’ostello c’erano lavori.La stanza non era pronta né pulita (bagno compreso).C’era una puzza di fumo incredibile e l’asciugamano era sporchissimo. Di notte è entrato in camera un uomo (penso dello staff) ed è stato pauroso. La serratura era rotta e non potevo chiudere. Il proprietario si preoccupava solo di scrivermi messagg...

Können wir nur von abraten! Vorne das Restaurant sieht wirklich schön aus, und wir wurden auch erst nett empfangen mit einem Drink. Das war aber auch das einzig positive. Das Zimmer an sich ist soweit in Ordnung für den Preis. Aber im Bad stand sehr altes Wasser und wir haben uns nichtmal getraut zu duschen. Eine Badtür habe ich von innen nicht mehr aufbekommen und war eingeschlossen. Als wir gingen war die einzige unhöfliche Frage wo der Schlüssel sei, der Grund interessierte nicht.

Le personnel est gentil compréhensif serviable et porte le sourire. Là nourriture est également délicieuse. Mais la chambre … la porte ne ferme pas de l’intérieur, à l’extérieur c’est un cadenas. Les lits ont de très mauvais matelas et les draps sont humides. Le ventilateur n’est pas propre et la salle de bain et très primaire. Mais l’odeur de moisissures qui prend au poumons n’étais pas supportable.. Nous n’avons pas pris le risque d’y passé la nuit .. Pour manger...

I had booked it because it looked like a quiet place in nature still with a social vibe. I left after a couple of hours, because the traffic from the main road was quite loud, the nature was not really beautiful, there were no other guests and the only common area where you could really hang out was the restaurant at the roadside. The owner was really nice though, I felt safe, and it seemed clean, but was arguing a lot with the cleaning lady which didn’t create a nice atmosphere.

While the hosts are nice and the common spaces are very vibey as pictured however there were no other people there other than the host so overall no social atmosphere. The rooms themselves smelled like moldy-must with gross linens. For a beautiful property, I felt like I was in a jail cell. They were very nice and accommodating people with a great location so if you’re looking to save money a good bet. But if you want a nice private room, spend 2 more euro and stay at a guesthouse nearby.

I don’t recommend! The place was really dirty, the rooms were uncomfortable, there were no facilities and the cleanliness of the sheets were questionable. Our first dorm smelled horrible and we asked to change it, when we changed it the other dorm had a really strong smell of mens perfume and not fresh or clean smell although they said they had just cleaned it. Communication was not the easiest, the owner is a bit sketchy. Overall bad experience, i wanted to leave asap

They show hospitality but then charge you 2500 for a 2km drive... The doors of our rooms had 5cm gaps at the botttom so expect some animal company in the night, and no mosquito prevention..

The staff were absolute legends — always smiling, helping with plans, and making sure everyone felt at home. Bonus points for the great food, cold drinks, and those late-night chats under the stars. Perfect spot if you’re exploring Sigiriya or just want to slow down and soak in the island energy.

Die Lounge war super schön und bequem eingerichtet.Die Mitarbeiter waren alle nett und zuvorkommend. Wenn man gerne Gesellschaft hat ist man dort bestens aufgehoben. Das Zimmer ansich war ordentlich und okay ausgestattet. Nur leider war das Bad in einem sehr schlechten Zustand. Es hatte lediglich eine Glühbirne und es war auch tagsüber sehr dunkel darin. Die Dusche war kalt und sie hat getropft, auch nachts. Auch der Wasserhahn war lose und hat ebenfalls getropft.

We had a really nice stay at the island vibes hostel. The owners were super friendly and helpful. They helped us organise an elephant safari and with travels to our next destination. The food was also really tasty and the room was spacious with a mosquito net.

Wir waren dort 3 Nächte. Der Host ist wirklich nett und lädt auch mal auf ein Drink ein. Leider war bei uns das Fenster nur mit einem Draht gesichert, somit hätte jeder ins Zimmer kommen können. Das Preisleitungssverhältnis ist ok. Man hatte alles was man braucht um dort zu schlafen, wenn man Tagsüber nur unterwegs ist. Das Frühstück im dazugehören Restaurant ist lecker. Wem Warmes Wasser und eine AC wichtig ist, sollte sich etwas anderes buchen. Das gibt es dort nämlich nicht.

Great value for money - rooms where basic but comfortable beds with a mosquito net provided. Staff very friendly and helpful, helped organise safari tour and we saw lots of elephants! Restaurant food was yummy. It was a little way from the main area but walkable / a short tuk tuk away. Would recommend staying here

Good value, nice location, basic rooms, check in was a little chaotic but ok overall

Seemed very disorganised when I arrived and like they were unaware that I had a booking. The wifi they said was available didn’t work at all. The room felt very unclean and the bedding smelt damp and wasn’t very pleasant. The food at the restaurant was very good and the kitchen was open late which was good

The staff was very friendly and super helpull :) the rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable :) i was in mixed dorm room and met nice people there :) the location is very good, a lot of nice Restaurants, all in Walking distance I had a great time! and the smoothie bowl from the lounge was delicious.

Amazing hostel in a great location. Rooms are clean and the staff are some of the friendliest we have had in Sri Lanka! Very helpful when planning activities and our onward travels. Restaurant is great too. Would recommend staying here

Walking distance to a lot of interesting things including lions rock, the museum, and the city center. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Common area is very nice and a great space to meet people if you are travelling solo.

I absolutely loved the vibe of this hostel the team there were really helpful when needed which was a bonus as it was my first time solo traveling! Definitely recommended for any travelers who are looking for a vibrant atmosphere and an easy fun way to meet new people!
