Not suggested, facilities very minimal, not social, activities offered by the hostel are overpriced. Getting there is a bit of a pain if using your own vehicle.
Ok. The staff was super friendly and the restaurant was good. The 6 bed dorm was super hot. There were no AC and only one fan that didn’t reach all the beds. The bathroom had a really weird layout, the sink was in the shower and only curtains to the shower and bathroom area. There were also a lot of ants and insects in the dorm and frogs in the toilet. There weren’t any lockers in the room and the dorms were always open. No toilet paper or soap in the bathroom either.
I stayed 2 nights in Mango Tree Homestay and had an absolutely horrible stay together with seven other guests. the owner without our knowledge cancelled our bookings during our stay and without our knowledge on Hostelworld to prevent us from leaving reviews and he can cash the money cash without proof. he became loud and tried to break into our locked ladies room drunk at night. we were very scared!
Nice people, beautiful location, but the pillows are rock hard, matresses are really thin, there are holes in the mosquito net so we had tons of mosquitos and spiders in them. We were in the old dorm and apparently the new dorm is nicer
Kind of weird vibes at this hostel. The place was inexpensive but the owner kept trying to get us to spend money on overpriced meals and tuktuks. It’s a little out of the way but we took the bus (very close) to get everywhere. It says wifi, but it was only turned on upon request and the owner got mad when my friend tried to do work using the wifi - we had no idea beforehand that this would be an issue! The free breakfast was delicious and the space is really quite beautiful.
We stayed for two nights at the mango tree homestay, the staff were very welcoming and helpful. They helped plan the excursions well at a reasonable price and got us a good transfer to our hotel in Kandy. The food was excellent and is all cooked by the owner. However, we did not feel entirely safe during our stay due to stray dogs fighting regularly outside our room (day and night) as there was no fence around the property, cats were trying to take our food as we were eating, and the location is...
The host was super nice! and the food from the associated restaurant was also delicious and prepared with a lot of love. however there was no WLAN and the dorm was unfortunately not clean. also the bathroom was dirty:/ For this the outdoor area was super beautiful and in the middle of nature. was cheap and in order for that, but would choose something else next time.
Nice and cosy stay!
Great place to start your adventure in Sigiryia and surroundings! Super friendly people, amazing atmosphere and giving you all the help/information you need. The rooms are big, you can store your space separately and safely! Food during dinner is great! Try the curry!
Great honesty, family is very friendly and helpful, location was more culturally and local, emerged in nature and enjoyed the activities especially the cooking class.

The stay was amazing! The owner is super nice and helped us with everything. From giving us rides everywhere to giving us a free cooking class. He even taught us how to make roti in the morning when we asked him how he did it. The room was fine, it’s what you pay for. Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend!!
I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough - Sheyan and his lovely family were super attentive throughout our full stay and made us feel like part of the family. Thank you so much 🩵
We loved our stay at mango tree home stay the owners was so lovely and helpful :)
Lovely place in between Sigiriya and Dambulla. Super nice owner and relaxed atmosphere.
We stayed at the hostel for three nights and felt very comfortable. it is a family hostel and you can tell. it is an incredibly warm atmosphere. the food is super delicious and everything is bought fresh. plus you have the opportunity to cook together evenings with the hosts. the prices are also very fair. the location is also top notch. 5 min walk through the beautiful jungle to the next bus station. we can really recommend the hostel to everyone!!!
The accommodation is located a little outside and you definitely have your peace of mind there:)
Nice people, beautiful location, but the pillows are rock hard, matresses are really thin, there are holes in the mosquito net so we had tons of mosquitos and spiders in them. We were in the old dorm and apparently the new dorm is nicer
We had an amazing stay! We really liked the cooking class and the safari. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, we felt at home! And the area was very nice for relaxing :)
This hostel is one of the best i have stayed in all my years backpacking! It was clean, comfortable, you get to watch how every meal is cooked and take part in a cooking class for your dinner! The families and staff were sooooo friendly and made the stay truely magical! After our dinner we were invited to join the birthday celebrations and it was amazing to see what way a different culture celebrates it. Its worth the extra effort to stay outside of the main tourist area, you wont regret it!
Everything was perfect and the staff was increíble . I would stay here again for sure
Loved our stay. We took the cooking lesson & the owner had already took us in the kitchen, so we could see how he prepared our lunch! Lovely family, would recommend everyone to stay here. Even tho in low season it can be a bit quiet for solo travellers.
The staff host were very welcoming an helpful. I wanted to relax a little and this was just the right place for me. In the evening you could hear the Phiriti Chants from a nearby buddhist temple and the souds of the sourounding forest were amazing. There are local Buses you can take to alle the nearby towns, just a 10 to 15 minute walk to the bus stop.
Sheyan was formidable with us, he helped us with all our travels, gave us a cooking class and the room in the trees was very comfortable and cozy.
Fantastic location, host and hospitality
The treehouse cabin we stayed in was very clean and cosy. It’s simple, but charming and peaceful. The downstairs bathroom was clean (but might be a challenge for less able guests). The Hostel is located a bit of a way from the center of Sigiriya, so it might be worth renting a bike when staying. But Sheyan is an excellent host, he was happy to organise Tuk tuks for us to get around. We also did the cooking lesson which was great value for money! All in all it was a lovely stay! Thank you!...
MUST STAY. We had a private room for two nights here, super clean accommodation and beautiful area. The location being in the middle of Dembulla and Sigiryia was perfect with only a 1500 rupee auto to each place making it super easy to get too, in which the owners helped organise both times or took us themselves. We have absolutely no faults for the place. Sheyan was the most amazing host recommending us things to do in the local area, providing a cooking class, home cooked Sri Lankan food and j
I was in Mango Tree homestay two days. My idea was to stay here just one night but I had an incredible experience so I stayed one night more.Mango Tree homestay and restaurant is a familiar business.I was in the female dorm. I did the cooking class with Sheyan( the owner) and I had fun. Also, I joined the morning hike to Pidurungala rock. the hostel is calm and quite place with a garden and with hammock in the trees. The staff is really nice. I recommend this place.
Nice and cosy stay!

A very good hostel, well maintained, clean and quiet.
