Relax Hostel

There is booklice everywhere in the property and in the rooms and were even crawling in our bags and it felt very discusting. On of the other guys also had some crawling on his computer in his bed. When we told the staff about it they sprayed something and wiped it off which doesnt do anything long term and they did not really say they would do anything. The only good thing was that they us our money back quikly.

Location and staff was ok, however it was not clean at all! The bathrooms were dirty, no toilet paper, toilet and clocked drain in sink! And the kitchen, especially the fridge and draining area just disgusting!! The hostel is in general extremely dark, old furniture and stinks moldy! Can’t recommend at all! Even though the prize per night was low, one should be able to grant the guests a clean place!

I would 100% recommend and return to Relax hostel in San José. It is in such a great location for the Tica Bus terminal and city centre. Breakfast pancakes were great and the staff here are so friendly and helpful. Thank you Relax Hostel!

Glauque, insécure, sale : tenture déchirée en guise de drap ( faut oser !), poussière ++ à la mise en route du ventilateur => tout retombe sur le lit... Attendu 15min. à l'extérieur des grilles parmi SDF & autres avant que le bénévole vienne m'ouvrir. Il ne connaissait rien dans le quartier et n'a pu me rendre ma monnaie ni en USD ni en monnaie locale . Bar fermé => manger et/ ou boire : NADA ! J'ai squaté un dortoir à peine + propre & aéré avec 2 jeunes filles autant dégoûtées ...

The staff here are so friendly and the pancake breakfast was lovely. I just disliked the hostel so much. It's too dark and dingey. The kitchen in the evening was awful, though it was cleaned and looked much better afterwards. Hot showers but the cream curtains in the bathroom were pretty much black. So much dirt on the windows. A fresh lick of paint and a good scrub would do this place some good. Beds were comfy and front gate is locked so felt safe, but wouldn't recommend! Sorry!

The breakfast was good and the staff was nice but they honestly didn’t really know a lot. The towels they gave us were smelly and wet and the bed sheets didn’t seem fresh. The bathroom wasn’t clean either and there’s a lot of noise coming from the street. We woke up every morning at around 5 am due to outside noise or even noise inside the hostel.

Wir waren nur eine Nacht dort und haben spontan gebucht, aber das Bad hat definitiv schon Mal bessere Tage gesehen und bedarf dringend einer Renervierung ebenso würden wir uns in einem Privatzimmer unterberacht , in das genau das Bett gepasst hat. Wohl ehemals eine Abstellkammer. laufen oder Gepäck abstellen war nicht möglich. Ebenso war alles sehr baufällig und wir hatten den Eindruck, dass die Deckenplatten nachts herunterkommen. We felt very welcomed and it was a good stay for 1 night as we were in and out. It’s a shame our private room felt like a cupboard and had random holes and cobwebs everywhere so it just felt unclean. They do provide free pancakes and the kitchen looked fully equipped. It’s unfortunately just a very run down building.

Accueil sympathique, bon petit déjeuner. Eau chaude bien agréable. Bien situé juste à côté du parc Sabana. Chambre trop petite. Un effort à faire sur la propreté.

Was empty when I was there so not too much of an atmosphere! Volunteers were really nice, and the venue is a lovely building, I would probably recommend keeping the kitchen and fridges in a more organised and cleaner way! Overall nice stay!

I stayed at this hostel when I arrived and again before leaving costa rica. I first chose this hostel for its location and the vibe of the website, you can truly feel the owner wants to help and be there for its clients. I got the chance to talk with the owner and he was very entertaining, resourceful and helpful. Thanks for everything.

This hostel is really chill like in smoking weed kinda vibes people, but everyone eas really nice and I liked the vibes. Location close to a park and the center :)

We liked the common kitchen and the free breakfast. The shower had warm water. Unfortunately, the traffic outside was very loud so that we didn't sleep too well.

Situated in a very good location. Comfy beds! cleaning can be much better, this was the only down part. Overall i had a great stay in this hostel. Enjoy it!

this is a great hostel, super cosy and chill vibes. the staff are always very welcoming and helpful, especially the owner. also the free breakfast is amazing! have been to this hostel 3 times now and will keep coming back everytime i pass through san josé

Super nice and chill hostel. I liked the female only dorm option and the pancake breakfast is a great touch. The common areas are very cozy, would recommend.

Chill hostel met een relaxte host Mike! Hij heeft goede tips voor de omgeving en maakt elke ochtend lekkere pancakes als ontbijt. De locatie is misschien niet het allerbest voor stadscentrum en leuke barretjes, en ‘s avonds niet echt chill op straat. Maar alles met de Uber is prima

perfect hostel for overnight stay if heading to airport. friendly, chill, help you organize a tour, owner is very helpful and makes sweet pancakes
