Hippo Lodge Backpackers

2 bathrooms shared with the whole hostel. Kitchen was dirty and only one table to dine. Creepy men were hanging out in the common area 24/7. Rooms super messy. Staff was really nice.

So unimpressed with the cleanliness. clearly hasn’t had a good clean in a very long time . The bathroom didn’t even have a sink to clean your hands . Beds were pointy and uncomfortable. Cheap but wouldn’t pay a cent to stay here again .

The location would be good and is manageable but is up a very very steep hill which is very difficult with multiple heavy bags - something to be aware of when booking. There were a couple of long term guests who were always high and drunk in the lounge - one night they were tattooing in the lounge. There was a boiler leak that soaked all of our stuff - the staff were nice and did what they could to wash and dry our clothes for us - big thanks for that. The facilities were lacking a little�...

The room I was in smelled really musk even though the window was open 24/7. It hadn’t been cleaned properly since there was stuff laying around from people who already left the accommodation days earlier (found that out through talking with the people that where there)., I would sometimes wake up because as I turned the springs from the matras would poke me. Maybe the other houses where better but the one I was in, I would not recommend

Viel zu wenig Parkplätze, uns wurde eine Fake-SIM empfohlen (Nicht die SIM-Karte vom Hostel instalieren!). Dieses Angebot der SIM-Karte ist veraltet und funktioniert nicht, auch wenn man dafür bezahlt. Die Dorms sind kalt.

People were friendly, good location, nice staff. Facilities messy and not looked after. It's the cheapest place so you get what you expect.

Very noisy on the first night. Lots of drinking going on. Long term residents too who made it seem like it was their property. Lovely views though.

A nice place just ruined by potheads that don’t clean up after themselves. Leave everything dirty, and unusable for the next person. First room I was in smelt like feet and weed, second was actually nice and had decent people. But other than that, staff is great, really look after you, AMAZING views from the hostel. Just not great people. But not the hostels fault.

Good value for the price, recommend if you just need a clean and fine place to sleep for a couple nights. Nice folks, not a huge social scene (more so people gathered in common spaces on their phones or talking with one friend), but homey. Facilities were fine, comfy beds. Not a bad walk into town.

位置在山上，対駕車者沒有問題，但對背包客要爬長上坡及階梯很辛苦 設備都齊全，但房間有點潮濕，環境衛生似乎沒有每天整理，但位置眺望皇后鎮最美麗的，以該區住宿價應該也是合理的。

I really enjoyed the vibe of Hippo! Definitely my favorite place I’ve stayed in Queenstown. The common space feels very homey and everyone there when I was was chill and open to chatting and hanging out.

Was good, perfect location but doesn’t have enough spot for parking and when to ask the staff they don’t help with that

Nice Hostel, clean Rooms and a lovely view! The Kitchen could have been cleaner and walking up the hill really is a challenge haha, but close to the center and free parking is available in-front of the building anf down the street

Very skanky and stinky kitchen, bathrooms also constantly wet and a bit stinky. Room was fine but a bit cold so if staying in colder seasons wear a jumper. Up a steep hill but great views. Very difficult to park.

For the money, the stay was very good. Decent bed space and lockers with warm showers and nice common area. The gas stoves were half broken though and the hill is not great!

I met lifelong friends at Hippo. Generally a good vibe in the long term house. only thing is I wish they'd allow the hammock back up!!

Ein tolles Hostel, wo man sich direkt zu Hause fühlt. Das Personal war sehr offen und freundlich. Es gibt sogar ein Klavier und BBQ platz, sowie nette Communal areas, in denen man schnell mit anderen in Kontakt kommt. Kurz gesagt haben wir direkt nochmal eine Nacht mehr gebucht, weil wir uns so gut aufgehoben gefühlt haben.

this hostel is decent but at the top of the steepest hill in queenstown! there are also lots of stairs. the beds are comfy enough and yhe showers are clean. kitchen is well equipped although good luck finding fridge space! the lounge is swealteringly hot but has great views. overall fairly average.

A good hostel for Queenstown. some nice facilities and good views but nothing else of impressive note.

Fun hostel! Cool city view but a pesky hill to climb to get there but worth it!

Stay here, just do it. Incredible vibes. Like one big family. Not a lot of kitchen storage space.
