Had a decent experience but they returned me the deposit with a 20usd fake bill
I booked for three nights and left after the second night because there were cockroaches everywhere, including the room and my bed. I asked for a refund for the third night and the lady at the reception said it would be ok, but I would have to pay again for the first two nights in order to get the three nights refunded. Not only did I not get the refund but payed extra on top. Now 1.5 weeks later I came back to ask them again and the lady says she doesn’t remember any of it.
Great hostel on the beach with a brilliant kitchen. Charged me the full price (after a deposit had been taken) saying that those are the hostel world fees - that’s why I’ve given them a low score on value as thats not fair. Really uncomfortable pillows also. Super lumpy and never got a new one despite asking. Sore neck after staying here
The WORST hostel I have ever stayed at. Awful value for money in the first place but it was the only place available at short notice when the Selina was closed (also avoid this). The room smelled so bad and there was a cockroach in the bed. Not friendly AT ALL. The worst was the fact however that they refused to give us money back when we cut the stay short due to bugs in the bed and have since added a random charge to my bank when we weren’t even in the hostel. AVOUD AVOID AVOID
The dorms were unacceptably hot. I have stayed in tons of dorm rooms and these were by far the worst I’ve stayed in. No air circulation, cramped, sand everywhere and generally SUPER unclean. Paid for two nights and had to get out of there after one. Staff were unhelpful and couldn’t move me or refund my second night I had booked. I usually don’t write reviews but felt inclined to on this occasion as my experience here was terrible
I didnt even get past check-in due to how rude the receptionist was. Unfortunately, it was not only directed to me and I witnessed quite a few other travelers being out right ignored or rudely responded to. My friend who stayed mentioned she was the same towards her - I didn't want to ruin the good atmosphere I had created on this trip and decided to stay elsewhere.
Fuimos en temporada baja pero el personal no ayudó en nada para generar buen ambiente. A veces ni saludaban. No había música siquiera. La cena en el restaurante no muy buena. El desayuno rico pero caro. Nos quedamos en una habitación doble privada con baño por 6 noches. Nunca la limpiaron ni cambiaron sábanas o toallas, ni siquiera cambiaron la bolsa del baño. La habitación era abajo, se escuchaban todos los ruidos de la habitación de arriba. Muy caro para el servicio brindado.
We went in low season but the staff did not help in any way to generate good atmosphere. Sometimes they were not healthy. There was not even music. The dinner in the restaurant was not very good. The breakfast was rich but expensive. We stayed in a private double room with bathroom for 6 nights. It was never cleaned or changed sheets or towels, not even changed the bath bag. The room was downstairs, you could hear all the noises from the upstairs room. Very expensive for the service provided.
There was bed bugs in the room and main downtown was 30-40 mins walking. the staff were annoyed everytime we ask for advice for our trip. i was very disappointed staying here. not what i expected at all.
We were deducted the amount on the card 3 times. The woman from the hostel said it did not work, even when we showed her the receipt. We then had to pay in cash. We have not received the money until today and now they ignore us.

Decent hostel, it gets the job done. The staff didn’t tell me there was a kitchen & I noticed till my last day, I didnt get a chance to socialize due to that. Most people in the large area were working so everyone was busy. It’s on the beach which is amazing! I wouldn’t stay here again because I love the socializing aspect of hostels.

This hostel has everything of a grand hotel, except that it is a hostel. the location is perfect, the premises are clean and super equipped. and finally the staff is too friendly, thank you Alexandra ;) Eddie el frances
I had a lovely stay at this hostel! I even extended my stay because I loved it so much! Really nice atmosphere and the staff were really helpful.
It‘s seriously overpriced. We thought we‘re treating ourselves with a nicer hostel but the value for money is really low and this is not better than any other you‘ll find. We had to change rooms because it smelled very very moldy, but the staff was very friendly about it. There were no hammocks and the beach and the area missed some love. The restaurant there is also really expensive. The kitchen area was good and also it was nice that you can do yoga for a reasonable price.
For the price pretty underwhelming. Was not worth the money to be honest. The dorms and everything in it smelled insanely like mold so I was kinda excited to leave. Bathrooms were clean tho.
Great hostel at a very beautiful beach. Surfing was also possible (there were loads of rentals nearby). The beds were very comfortable and the curtains in the dorms offer some privacy. The atmosphere is very chill with a lot of hammocks and chill out areas. It is also possible to rent bikes to get faster to town (by foot its about 25 minutes) or to other beaches. There are a lot of Bars, restaurants and supermarkets nearby reachable by foot. I enjoyed my stay a lot!!

Das Hostel ist sehr schön und direkt am Strand. Die Mitarbeiter sind wirklich super freundlich. Von der Lage her ist es etwa 20 Minuten zu Fuß von Puerto Viejo entfernt. Mein einziger Minuspunkt ist das die Betten hart sind und zum Teil laute Geräusche beim bewegen auf der Matratze machen.
The hostel is very nice and right on the beach. the staff are really super friendly. from this location it is about 20 minutes walk from Puerto Viejo. my only minus point is that the beds are hard and sometimes make loud noises when moving on the mattress.
Comfy bed, good AC, great kitchen facilities - excellent location. For safety reasons, I didn't like that we had to wear the hostel wristband at all times as I don't like strangers to know where I'm staying. Thankfully, I was able to slip the wristband on and off. Downside was that there was SUCH loud music my first night which went on late and kept me up. Our dorm window was closed and I was wearing earplugs but my bed was physically shaking. The event was not listed on hostelworld app.
Was a bit disappointed here. The female dorm was TINY, literally no space to move at all. Luckily I had a bottom bunk but I felt really bad for anyone with a top bunk. Not that clean or sociable. The pictures make it look like the beach treeline has loads of hammocks but it does not. No real spaces to relax other than in the restaurant. But the staff are very kind, the food was decent and you can rent bikes. It was fine but I was hoping for better.
Overall we had a pleasant stay, the beds were comfy and we got blankets too. Staff were friendly and helpful and any issues were sorted out quickly. However, we are two young women and we were put in a room with four men who were all over 50. This didn’t make us feel very comfortable or safe and I felt this was a bit of an oversight on the hostels part especially as there were other beds available.
Overall loved my stay here! First night I had a small issue but the staff were quick to help and solve the issue. Shoutout Alejandra you were amazing!! I’d suggest paying a little extra for a deluxe room as the bigger mixed dorms are very basic. Lovely to be on the beach and close to a huge supermarket. 25 minute walk into the main town but it’s a nice walk and spotted lots of sloths on the way!

Volveria mil veces a este lugar, el personal atento mas instalaciones muy onderas, la cocina compartida tieme muchos espacio para cocinar, tiene restorant me gustó. La playa esta a 20 metros.
I would return a thousand times to this place, the attentive staff but very low facilities, the shared kitchen has plenty of space to cook, has a restaurant I liked.
