Mike wasn't present during our stay. Instead, a woman we believe was his mother acted as host. She became overbearing and imposing over the course of our stay, she would come into our room unsolicited and tell us to close windows, tell me to close the door to my room if I stepped a foot outside to empty my bag. On our last morning she wouldn't let us use the air con, and stopped a friend from filling up a large bottle of water. The rooms were rudimentary and the aircon was faulty.
At face value, the price seemed fair for the room/location, but I felt hostility from Mike's mother, present throughout our stay in Mike's absence. A broken lock meant we had to wait to be let in, hoping she’d hear us, and repairs with drilling/hammering went on from 9 pm to midnight. I felt hovered over, restricted with the AC, denied detergent in the (*handwash*) laundry area, questioned about using cleaning supplies, and overcharged for lost keys despite being told a different price by Mike...
Todo bien pero mucho desorden y desperdicios acumulados en el patio . Cocina poco limpia
La Casa de Mike was the cheapest available accommodations that I found in all of the Galápagos Islands during my 12-day stay. If all you want is a bed/bath with a roof that you can use as a safe place to store your things, this will do (be aware, no AC in the cheapest room!). I purposely chose this hostel because it had a kitchen, but came to find it was so gross that I opted to pay to eat out instead (to be fair, I grew up with a mom who ran a house cleaning business for a living). Chill vibe...
You get what you pay for with accommodations and facilities, nothing amazing. They didn't service the bathroom the whole time I was there- trash smelled. They have pets, I could hardly sit down in a common space without the bigger dog getting his face in my lap, great if you like that but annoying if you don't. The strobe light decor they have at night is HORRIBLE- please get rid of this! The woman who works there is so friendly and helped me book two tours from Isabela at a great price.
Very basic but good value for money if you’re on a budget, the hostel is small but there is a cute little shared outdoor area. Didn’t use the kitchen facilities but theres a water dispenser for filling up bottles. Olga was very sweet and chatty! She was constantly cleaning and maintaining the place, it’s a nice family run business and the good location.
Nice hostel, good location. Mike and olga were friendly. Clean room.
Casa de Mike really feels like you’re staying at your mates house. Great atmosphere with the staff! Mike is happy to sort you out with any tours or ferry tickets that you need! To top it off the beds are pretty comfy too. It’s not the cleanest place in the world. Usually you’ll find some sand in the showers and the kitchen isn’t perfect. Nothing too disimilar to a normal hostel tho. If you’re looking for good WIFI then the kitchen or the back of the hostel is the best place!

On the day of my arrival, I was warmly welcomed by Auri (Mike’s wife). The accommodation is a great budget-friendly option for staying on the island. The rooms are simple but have everything you need. They also provide helpful information about tours and even some free activities available on the island. I felt very comfortable and well taken care of. Thank you!

Friendly and small hostel. Mike was really amazing and so helpful!
The host, Mike, is super friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The location was ideal for me. It was quiet, and the town center was a five-minute walk away. Mike's mother cleans from morning to night and was always very present.
Mike was great at helping us with Ferry’s and Tours across all three islands, very friendly guy
10/10 stay 💕 Super attentive and helpful from the start. Before we had even arrived Aura had kindly sorted out a fantastic last minute tour for the next day. Her communication was super quick throughout our whole stay, she sorted us out with snorkels, bikes, taxis, nothing was too much trouble. Mike was a great host, very welcoming and provided lots of info on the local area and activities. The room was clean, hot shower, AC and lovely dog and cat were a bonus!
Great value, friendly family run spot. Mike very helpful in sorting out tours and other info. Kitchen available to use as well!
Mike and Olga were amazing, so friendly and helpful, and the pets (a dog and a cat) are gorgeous and super affectionate 🥹 I loved my stay here, really great value for money and felt like home
Mike is without doubt one of the best hosts ive seen. Hes so helpful and full of tips for your stay. His mum is also very sweet, and just tried to help (even when there is a lauguage barrier). the place is nice and does the job, the shower is especially good. Special shout out to the pet dog and cat, i think i fell in love with them both
Great place to stay in Isabela. Super helpful with tours etc and super close to the main road.
