Kaima Kai

Mohamrd, einer der Besitzer, hat sich mir unangenehm aufgedränt, meine Nummer aus den Unterlagen beim check in gestohlen und mich aufgefordert mit ihm auszugehen. Ich habe mich als alleinreisende Frau extrem unwohl gefühlt. Sein Benehmen war absolzt unprofessionell; ich bin zahlender Gast und Mohamrd ca. doppelt so alt wie ich. Auch das Erschleichen meiner Nummer geht gar nicht! Später hat er die Nachricht gelöscht. Als Frau rate ich davon ab, hier zu ünernachten.

We stayed at Kaima Kai in March as a group of three. The hostel’s location is good and offers a beautiful view. However, the rooms offer little privacy, as there are no curtains on the beds. The cleanliness of the bathroom could also be significantly improved. In addition, the air conditioning did not work during our stay, making the room so hot that we could hardly sleep. We did not try the food at the hostel.

Staff very friendly and helping. Location just on the highway very convenient to travel . Curtains needed on the bed . Need to improve more on cleaning washroom .

I personally can’t agree with some of the reviews that say this has been the best hostel people have stayed in. It was a very average hostel. Location is not ideal. There is nothing near the hostel. The beds don’t have curtains, and are set out in a weird way. If rooms are fully booked, there is hardly any space with luggage being all over the place. No food was being served. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned. Staff are very nice, pleasant and helpful.

A nice hostel, perks being their garden / chill area, which is right next to the ocean, and AC in the dorm room. Location wise apart from the ocean front not that great since the Unawatuna town center and beach are about 20 min away (walking). Doesn’t have a kitchen, no filtered water, and being right next to the ocean also means right next to the main road which can be pretty loud. Overall it was a nice stay though.

Das Hostel ist total süß aufgebaut und man fühlt sich wirklich sicher! Die Zimmer waren total sauber und die Betten wirklich sehr bequem! Der Inhaber war Mega freundlich, hat uns auch extra zum Bus gebracht. Nur zu empfehlen 🥰

Super lovely hostel, really lovely staff and such a relaxing stay. Only thing I would change is the location, it is a bit far from Unawatuna town / beach but worth the walk if you want a super clean and comfy hostel with good views!

Great stay, not much happening as it was low season. Would be heaps of fun during high season.

Very beautiful hostel. The view is gorgeous and the beach access is super convenient. The rooms are super clean and the layout is great. However, the AC didn’t work in our dorm. The restaurant is closed during off season.

Very nice spot, lovely communal area outside with views of the sea, food and water was quite expensive

One of the most beautiful hostel I’ve ever stayed at. Cannot wait to come back again. Highly highly recommend.

Great lil spot that

Very good property for the value of money. The views are to die for. Saman (caretaker) is a kind and affectionate, gem of person who’ll ensure the best stay. The food can be aunthentic to die for.

Beautiful property overlooking the water, yummy food and super friendly hosts! Not a far walk or tuktuk ride into town and easy to get to Dalawella beach for turtles and the palm rope swing. Would recommend to anyone visiting in Unawatuna!

My friend and I had a great stay at Kaima Kai. Saman and the other staff were really helpful and friendly. We enjoyed sitting at the terrace and they even brought us a cute snack plate for free. Would always come back .

It’s an amazing beach facing property. Really kind staff (Saman) who helped us catch bus and was so helpful throughout the stay. Sunsets are amazing from the hostel rooms.

Nice Hostel with an amazing view over the ocean. Clean Property. Restaurants and Beach in Walkingdistance.

I would strongly advise women traveling alone not to stay here. During my stay, I witnessed the owner behave inappropriately toward a female guest, including taking her personal phone number under false pretenses and later messaging her to meet in person. Given the hostel’s remote location and minimal staff, this created an unsafe and uncomfortable environment.

Tolles Hostel mit wunderschöner Aussicht und sehr guter Lage. Die Zimmer sind geräumig und sauber
