Hostal El Guis

+ Location is good and people are friendly

- It was a low quality room, seemed as if they improvised with a left over shed where they put a bed in. Bed was bad, musquito net did not fit, and bathroom was outside in the garden, it was small and not great hygiëne. There were no pictures of this room on Booking, so it feels like a small scam. We left after 1 night even though we booked 2.

- We never stayed here due to the host cancelling our booking the night before our stay, forcing us to find somewhere else to stay the day after Christmas Day which was challenging and very expensive.

+ Odelba es una encantadora anfitriona siempre disponible para sus huéspedes. El entorno es bonito: flores, bananeras, plantas; muy verde.

- Calidad/precio me pareció muy caro teniendo en cuenta que no incluye desayuno en el precio, pero tampoco se puede hacer uso de la cocina (no estaba suficientemente equipada y sartenes y ollas estaban absolutamente desgastadas hasta el punto de la toxicidad). Las condiciones de la habitación (durante el día hacía muchísima calor y las habitaciones comunicaban unas con las otras a través de ladrillos decorativos, por lo que todo se escuchaba pareciendo que tenías a la gente de otras habitaciones en tu propia habitación), muy difícil descansar por ese mismo motivo.

+ Odelba and her staff are extremely kind and warm people that really makes you feel at home. You are greeted with a drink and she helped us with booking scooters as soon as we arrived. The location is good and near some highlights on the island.

- The bathroom needs an upgrade, but you get what you pay for. A lot of insects and ants coming in from the open gap in the roof but again, the entire island is filled with it.

+ La atención de César fue muy atento y agradable. Un lugar seguro.

- El baño de la habitación olía mucho a orines. Los mosquiteros tenían huecos y me picaron demasiado los zancudos.

+ La posizione è ottima, vicino alla strada principale. Gentile e disponibile la proprietaria che ci ha accolte. La struttura è semplice, se ci si adatta puó andare bene. Con una migliore pulizia, maggior cura dei dettagli, personalizzazione e manutenzione, potrebbe diventare una buona opzione per il soggiorno in Ometepe.

+ De gastvrouw en gastheer zijn erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

- Het is eigenlijk geen hostel. Er zijn maar drie kamers en het voelt alsof je bij het gezin thuis bent. Er is geen centrale keuken om te gebruiken. De keuken die er is is van het gezin zelf en erg vies. De kamers zijn prima, maar basic. De badkamer had gebreken (wc en kraan lekten) en was niet schoon. Het hostel ligt een eindje van de grote weg. Het pad naar het hostel is bij regen onbegaanbaar zonder kletsnat en vies te worden.

+ Super lieve mensen en erg behulpzaam. Hangmatten en zitgedeelte is erg fijn.

- Het dak in kamers zijn niet gesloten. Hoorde dus supergoed de buren praten hele avond en ik werd belaagd door muggen.

- En fonction des passagers , bruyants la soirée, plein éclairage dans la chambre. le petit déjeuner largement plus cher qu'ailleurs

+ Very friendly staff, help you with everything you need (transportation, hiring (motor)cycles, Tours etc.. place is perfect to chill if you're taking a day off activities

+ Staff is super helpful and kind! They helped with everything (hikes, scooter, laundry, snacks) and their attitude created very good atmosphere. Wonderful hospitality! They also cleaned the room and changed the linens and towels everyday, which hasn't been that usual in similar places based on my experience.

- Rooms are quite basic and you can hear everything from the next door. I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time on my own so that was not a big issue in my case.

+ Small hotel with friendly owner and staff. Clean , comfortable, good Wifi , chill out space and situated close to the main road of Balgue . The owner organised a tour guide for maderas volcano hike and also arranged a taxi to pick us up to go to moyogalpa . Great spot !

+ Le séjour s'est très bien passé, grâce à Odelba qui était très à l'écoute et qui m'a rapidement mis en contact pour réaliser des activités sur l'île. Bon emplacement de l'hôtel, au début du sentier qui monte au volcan Maderas. La chambre était impeccable et il y avait un très bon petit déjeuner.

+ Great location a short walk from a natural swimming pool. Walking distance from several farms and beautiful spots. Very clean, peaceful, and super safe. Owner and staff are extremely nice and welcoming.

+ The staff here are so lovely! From the minute we arrived we were told “our house is your house”, they were always so warm and friendly with every interaction. The room was simple and rustic as expected, no issues. Mosquito net was handy as being in nature there are a few creepy crawlies around. In the communal area there was a shared kitchen, several hammocks and a bookshelf. The staff emptied the bathroom bin daily and turned down our room on day 3 and provided fresh towels which was nice. The location was great, a short walk from the main street of Balgue (accessible by bus). The petroglyph area was further up the same street which was handy.

- Not the hostel’s fault but we hired a scooter through their connection and while we had no issues with the scooter itself, they “forgot” to bring us our change and I’m not sure if we were overcharged, our fault for not being more on top of it.

+ Odelba est une superhôte, l'hotel est très bien situé. Elle nous a recommandé un super guide pour faire le volcan Concepcion Merci !

+ La gentillesse du personnel, le calme de l'endroit, la proximité du volcan Maderas, du marché de Santa Cruz et de la plage. Très aidant pour nous aider à trouver une moto.

- Il manque quelques équipements dans la cuisine.

+ It was off the main road which made it quiet for a good nights rest.

+ Very friendly family. Always helpful. There is a kitchen which you can use for a fee for the gas ($3).They have filtered drink water available which saves some bottles and money. The house is located off the main road in a very calm environment. Very good to relax but still close to some restaurants. We rented a scooter here, which was delivered to the property and in good condition.
