Super Unterkunft, Der Host Sam ist eine unfassbar nette Person, hilfreich wenn man etwas braucht und super Gesellig. Preisleistungsverhältniss ist Fair, an der Einrichtung nichts zu meckern. In Zukunft AC wäre toll. Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen
Super accommodation, Der Host Sam is an incredibly nice person, helpful when you need something and super friendly. price-performance ratio is Fair, in the furnishing nothing to meckern. in the future AC would be great. can i only recommend further
Sam ist sehr nett und gibt sich wirklich Mühe, danke dir! Er kann ausserden gute Deals bei den lokalen Schnorchel und Tauchgeschäften organisieren. Beim Mehrbettzimmer gab es keine Klimaanlage, nur sehr laute Ventilatoren. Dies möchte er aber in Zukunft ändern. Die doppelstock Betten waren auch eher wackelig. Nach zwei Nächten haben wir ins Privatzimmer gewechselt, da hatte es eine Klimaanlage und alles war in Ordnung.
Sam is very nice and really goes to great lengths, danke dir! He can also arrange good deals at the local snorkeling and diving shops. In the Mehrbettzimmer there was no air conditioning, only very loud Fans. This he would like to change in the future, however. The double-stock beds were also rather shaky. After two nights we switched to the Privatzimmer, there was an air conditioning and everything was in Ordnung.
Sam est d'une incroyable gentillesse, et a toujours trouvé une solution à nos problèmes. L'ambiance est calme, les chambres sont propres, ventilées, cela manque juste d'un vrai espace commun pour faire des rencontres ;)
Sam is incredibly kind, and always found a solution to our problems.The atmosphere is calm, the rooms are clean, ventilated, it just lacks a real common space to make meetings ;)
Great place. Stayed in the private room which was super comfortable and the AC worked great. Super close to Uppuveli beach. Sam was a lovely host, very kind and helpful.

Sam the host is really nice and helpful, and the hostel is in an amazing location near the beach and Fernando’s. However no a/c means it gets very hot, and lots of flies with no mosquito nets. Overall though very good value for money, and I hat I needed for a couple of nights

Gokanna was a great stay, Sam the owner was a great host, very helpful with organising taxis and boat tours. Great location, only thing was the room got very hot, fans were provided but still hot

I had such a lovely stay at Gokanna Pearl Hostel. Sam is incredibly kind and genuine, taking the time to sit down with me and help plan my next destinations, which I really appreciated. Nice place to stay very close to the beach
We had a lovely time at this hostel! Sam is very very friendly and he took us to see elephants! It was not very busy in Trincomalee, because of the weather, but nevertheless, we had it perfect! I would defenitely recommend this hostel!
Sam was a top host even for low season i would advice
Sam is the best. He is very kind and will help you with anything. The place is so close by the beach, it’s great. Nice rooms. It can get a bit hot in the rooms but there are a couple of fans in there.

Die Unterkunft ist super toll!! Sam (der Gasgeber) ist sehr nett und man fühlt sich dort sehr willkommen:) Er hilft einem bei jedem Problem und man kann sehr schön zeit mit ihm verbringen.
Sam (the Host) is very nice and you feel very welcome there:) He helps you with any Problem and you can spend a very nice time with him.

Agréable séjour dans cette auberge tenue par Sam. L’endroit est super bien placé et le gérant est charmant, fait tout pour que l’on se sente bien chez lui ! Le seul petit bémol était la chaleur dans le dortoir, les ventilateurs n’aident pas suffisamment. À part ça, j’ai beaucoup aimé mon séjour au Gokanna hostel !!
Nice stay in this hostel run by Sam. The place is super well placed and the manager is charming, does everything to make you feel at home ! The only small hiccup was the heat in the dorm, the fans don't help enough. Other than that, I really enjoyed my stay at Gokanna hostel !!

Sam, der Besitzer, ist super lieb & hilfsbereit. Alleine wegen ihm sollte man das Hostel schon buchen. Auch sonst war alles super. Punkt Abzug gab es leider wegen der fehlenden Klimaanlage…. Es gibt Ventilatoren aber die helfen bei der Hitze leider wenig.
Sam, the owner, is super lovely & helpful. just because of him you should have booked the hostel already. also otherwise everything was great. punkt abzug there was no leader due to the lack of air conditioning.... there are fans but they help with the heat leader little.
+ Very close to the beach and restaurants + possibility to eat priceworthy meals in the hostel + very friendly, helpful and welcoming host + possibility to book boat tours + big rooms +/- ac and non ac rooms, you should probably ask for a ac room if you prefer ac - no Watertank to fill your waterbottle, but you can buy water for a good price the hostel opened in Mai 2025, would definitely recommend!
Simple, but nice accommodation with everything you need! Location is great, right next to the beach so everything is in walkable distance. Sam is the best host, so sweet and kind and helpful!
