Don Galle

Horrible stay. No lock on our door , squeeky doors as we could not lock them, no hot water , no potable water , dirty sheets and pillow , cold rooms , far from main life.

No lockers, room didn’t lock, came in one day to find my stuff had been moved, they charge an extra 10% for card payment which is insane. Room smelt like sewage because it was right next door to the bathroom.

Für solche Zimmer im Vergleich zu anderen Hosters so viel Geld pro Bett zu verlangen ist schon stark. Legt lieber bisschen Geld drauf und kommt wo gescheites unter und nicht in dieser Bruchbude. Gibt 2 Bäder für Männer/Frauen für 120-150 mögliche Gäste. Küche runtergekommen aber genug Koch Möglichkeiten. Strom ist zwischen durch ausgefallen und schalldicht ist was anderes.

Good place with nice rooms, however both men’s bathrooms were closed for much of our stay, leaving only 2 bathrooms (which is toilet and shower combined) for the entire hostel. Otherwise good place to stay

Einfache Unterkunft mit etwas durchgelegenen Betten und gut ausgestatteter Küche. Dank sehr häufiger Reinigung waren Gemeinschaftsräume & Bad sehr sauber trotz der vielen Gäste.

I had a private room so I felt more secure. It seems if you have a shared room - there is no lock on the door at all and they don’t have any secure storage. I comment imagine not having a lock as we open straight to the street. When I was in the only shared space, a guy from the street walked in looking for a room. Only two women’s bathrooms/ showers. It would be really nice if there was a toilet outside of the shower. I showered at odd times so had hot water.

Pros: The hostel is very clean, staff are lovely,the kitchen is huge with multiple stoves/fridges and it's right near the bus station. Cons: The dorm doors DO NOT HAVE DOOR HANDLES AND CANNOT BE CLOSED (only latched from the inside or outside) and they open directly to the outside. Bunks also do not have ladders and there are no lockers.

The stay at Don Galle was great. We were greeted and shown around and despit our very limited Spanish, we understood most of what we were told as it was explained very well and slowly. There was a large communal kitchen with lots of appliances. The main ovens were wuite hard to light but there were plenty of other options like burners. The room was basic but very warm with the blankets. Perfect location. Other guests were loud and messy which made us feel bad for the owners. Great showers!

Good value for money - the owners are really nice and it was fun to converse with them since they don’t speak English (translate works wonders)

The hostal was really peaceful and the staff were really kind and helpful. The location was nice because is near the bus station and they have a really big kitchen full equipped. We were in a private room with shared bathroom and the only down point is that they just have 4 bathrooms for women and man in a main building for all the guests, so when it’s raining it’s not very handy and at the end of the day when everyone is taking a shower you have to wait quite a lot even to use the toilet.

Very good vibes, really good kitchens and solid rooms. Well kept and big plus for cleanliness. Good toilets, all equipped with showers - only minus is then when people are showering you cannot get in to pee, sometimes resulted in queues. Views were sick with an amazing cliff that we could see from the window.

Overall decent as it was by far the cheapest hostel we could find in El Chalten. Friendly staff, huge kitchen/communal area, clean, close to the bus station. However, the kitchen was quite poorly equipped even though it was so large, only 2 male and 2 female bathrooms (toilet and shower together) for everyone and the beds weren't great. The gas heater in our private room smelled very strongly of gas, which made us nervous!

Cooles Hostel und sehr freundliches Personal. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Formidable séjour à Don Galle, très grande cuisine bien équipée et chambres privatives indépendantes. (Petit bonus pour l'emplacement, à deux pas du terminal de bus et d'une délicieuse boulangerie)

This is a great budget option in El Chalten. It’s convenient to the hikes on the south side of town and very close to the bus station. The accommodations are very basic, but the highlight is the staff and cleanliness. Juan and the other cleaning staff were friendly, welcoming, always available to answer a question and they kept the kitchen and bathrooms nearly spotless - and that is a big job when there are so many people sharing the same space!

Very happy with the stay. We stayed in a private room which was nice and clean, kitchen area was large and equipped and always room to cook. Definitely worth it for the price!
