This hostel is so beautiful like something out of a fairytale. Adored my room, although didn't realise there was a sign I had to use to have someone makeup my room! It was also lovely and quiet. Cons: I didn't realise quite how far out the location was, so be aware of that. The unofficial grab you use is pretty expensive considering (160k return from cat ba town). + Pros: Away from the main town which gave it a retreat-like stay, very calming. They have music playing around the facility which amplifies this feeling. Beds are comfortable. Bedding/pillows and towels are clean and good condition. Staff are very attentive.
- Location - even know its far from town its inconvenient because you need a scooter. Too far to peddle bike, and walk would take you well over an hour. Cost to rent scooter from the facility is 150,000VND per day so this is an added cost to your stay that is necessary because of the distance from the main centre. Be sure to request the scooter WELL in advance when you need it - it took them over an hour to get one delivered to the hotel for me. They make breakfast daily, but its very limited to just eggs/fruit (and the fruit wasn't so good) or pancakes with chocolate sauce.
+ The grounds are artistic and attractive. The neighborhood has beautifully kept vegetable gardens. One of the staff offered us tea, a snack and a great story while we waited for the room to be ready. Staff were helpful with arranging a tour for a cruise in Lan Ha Bay and the bus ride when we left. There are numerous places around the grounds to sit.
- The ambiance seemed a bit pretentious and overdone to appear a peaceful refuge. Breakfast had the same three options every day and none of them were particularly good. There was one mediocre restaurant within walking distance of the hotel. Options for getting around were limited to expensive taxi rides although online we did find a tour to get to Hospital Cave and the National Park. It turned out to be great but the staff had no knowledge of it. While all the other hotels we stayed at in Vietnam charged 3% to use a credit card for payment, Ann Garden charged 5% without explanation.
+ A beautiful and peaceful place, less than 10 minutes from cat ba, not far from the national park. Very quiet, large room, friendly staff. We enjoyed the family style dinner.
- There are no mosquito nets on the windows, and no window at the bathroom, so it is hard to ventilate the room
+ Absolutely beautiful place filled with very friendly people. The staff were very welcoming, polite and helpful. They made a family dinner which all the guests enjoyed together and it was delicious. The family room was spacious and the buildings are incredible. We booked to stay a second night. Location was not totally out of the way but secluded from the road and in a quiet part. Still some shops and restaurants within 5 minute walk but the main town about a 10 min car ride.
- Because of the tet holiday there was minimal staff and they worked hard to do everything but couldn't serve everyone at once, so it was sometimes hard to get drinks at the bar.
+ Its all new but feels authentic Vietnamese and the outside space is calm and inviting!
+ The cats and dogs,, the traditional renovated houses, the common dinner.

This place is great. The showers, rooms and beds are large and clean. A super chill vibe and the staff are lovely. ESPECIALLY SÓN! He’s a legend who let me borrow his moped and makes the best happy water in Vietnam. I said what I said

This is the best hostel.
Just perfect! Will definitely come back here if I ever return to cat ba. Wonderful relaxed athmosphere at the hostel, with so many cute animals!
Honestly one of the most relaxing and beautiful hostels I’ve stayed in. Rooms are clean and beds so comfortable. Everyone there was lovely and really enjoyed the place! Great location too
That’s the best accommodation I had! The people are so nice and helpful. The homestay is so peaceful and I love the dog and the cats
Probably my favorite place I've stayed in Vietnam. The vibes are incredible - starting with Sun who works at the front desk. He's so funny and helpful. It's a super friendly, social (but not party) crowd, especially at the family dinners every night. Everyone just starts chatting. And the food is SO GOOD! Plus you can take a cooking class to help out making it which I really liked. There are a million cats running around that are snuggly.

Ich hab’s hier geliebt!! Es ist wie eine kleine Oase, wo man zur Ruhe kommt, alle sind nett und man fühlt sich einfach wohl! Das Frühstück und die Family Dinner sind auch sehr zu empfehlen! Leider war die AC in unserem 10er Dorm kaputt und dadurch war es nachts unglaublich heiß! Es wurde aber alles versucht, sie zu reparieren.
I have loved it here!! it is like a little oasis where you can relax, everyone is nice and you just feel good! the breakfast and the family dinner are also highly recommended! unfortunately the air conditioner in our 10th dorm was broken and as a result it was incredibly hot at night! but everything was tried to fix it.

+ Tellement paisible, on s’y sent merveilleusement bien. La petite musique en fond, les chats et les chiens qui viennent chercher des câlins, les petits déjeuner, le dîner partager entre invités, tout est super. Le personnel est adorable et répondent à vos demandes. Le dortoir est grand, tout est propre honnêtement rien à redire. Possibilité de louer un scooter sur place. Merci mille fois, j’ai même prolongé mon séjour !
+ This is an amazing place. It is located in a quiet beautiful area. The room was amazing, inside of a traditional house. The owner was super welcoming, helpful and eager to teach you about vietnamese culture (all guests were invited to staff family dinner one night, followed by a calligraphy workshop). I would recommend everyone to stay here and avoid cat ba city.
Just the most incredible stay, feels almost rude to call it a hostel! More like a hotel, beautiful setting and Son went above and beyond to make sure my stay was great. It isn’t close to Cat Ba town but worth it!
