Banff International Hostel

first at all, the location posting pictures that are not accurate with the reality .poor poor poor cleaning of the room, dirty bathroom and below beds i guess broom is not pass for decades. I guess is not housekeeping personal in that hostel the worst experience ever in a hostel. Manager show up but the funny answer was " I don't have cleaners could you wait for tomorrow" I just think to myself can I pay you in a year because I cannot afford to pay your rate now. lol.. I decided to leave

Way to much money for the hostel

Rooms were dirty and not well lit. Floors in bathroom were gross and covered in mud and hair. Guests arrived at 1am turning all lights on. No curtains on my bunk but curtains on others. No bath mat so water all over floor. Common spaces all small and not inviting. Kitchen okay but not very large.

In the summer the room had no ventilation and was so hot no one in the room was sleeping, it also smelled horrible because of the moist hot air circulating between all of the hot sweaty people. Normally I would be okay with this considering it’s a hostel after all and I’m not picky, but considering it cost $100 for an eight person room, which is the most I’ve ever paid for a hostel, a solution to this problem would have been nice, even just adding fans for the room would have helped

It is so dirty! I had to wash myself the bath. Floor dirty, table dirty .

L'auberge est très sale. J'y suis restée 4 nuits et le ménage n'a pas été fait dans les dortoirs (Pas de réapprovisionnement de papier toilette, lavabos, miroir et douches pas lavés, sols sales), pourtant la poubelle de la salle de bain a été vidée donc quelqu'un a du passer. Odeur nauséabonde dans l'auberge TOUS LES JOURS (cuisine au sous et sol et parties communes à l'étage), à cause des poubelles qui ne sont pas vidées. Parties communes très petites et parking trop limi...

The only selling point about this hostel is the location. The pictures showed curtains around dorm beds which is why I booked it, but mine had no curtains, was right next to the door, and under the main light. Meanwhile, there was an empty bed in the corner with curtains both nights I was there. Obviously I had a horrible sleep, and not sure why I paid the same amount as someone who had the privacy and comfort of dorm bed curtains, which was advertised in the photos, so felt slightly misled.

Great place, very homely ((: the staff were amazing

Rooms quite dark so don't want to spend any time in them. Kitchen was small and smelly. Breakfast was okay but chaotic! Limited chill out areas.

One of the best hostels I've stayed in. Extended twice. Comfortable beds (only complaint: blanket keeps falling out of cover), good showers, well equipped kitchen,clean, quiet at night, friendly staff and at walking distance from town. Just don't know about the atmosphere, people didn't seem talkative.

Nice hostel. Lots of people living here obviously looking for jobs, but still nice. Great location only a 10min walk from town.

Perfect location for getting around Banff! Very friendly staff and the bed was comfortable! I dont know if I missed something but I dont think they offer a towel so make sure to bring one!

The house has Charme. It is old, but cozy. The people are gentle. Not very far from center. My room was dark. No smoke detector. Electric not expertly. Not enough parking place. But I like it. The Atrium is nice.

Nice rooms, lovely to have a bathroom in the room. Great location as well we were really close to the centre of Banff. The kitchen was not the cleanest. Breakfast selection was not the best either.

Perfectly adequate, just not special. But that’s what a hostel typically is.

It was kinda mid, not bad but basic compared to other hostels and units in the area

This hostel offers breakfast of breads and spreads and pancakes and cookies. Also, it offers a storage for things when one arrives early and is not able to check in yet. Our room has a washroom inside which is great!! The beds are metal and sturdy and do not shake when someone moves. This hostel is in the centre close to shops and museum and churches, walkable to all.

It was a smell right on the bottom on the kitchen, it should be lookup. Staff was really helpful, I forgot my watch after check out, so I came back after and they helped me to find it.

Ideal for solo female travelers. Can book a female only dorm room was lovely. Very hot in the rooms but the fans helped. Charging port didn't work so luckily had a portable charger with me. Felt very safe in girls room. Quiet village community ideal for solo trip. Great spot to meet people to hangout with. Breakfast was good - kitchen was clean. Some female staff were a bit rude and annoyed but one guy was super great and unlocked the laundry for me after it closed as I forgot :)

The customer service from the desk was prompt and responded immediately to requests. However, there is room for improvement in no face cloths, hand towels or bath towel in the room. A chair on the main level of the women's dorm. I would've benefitted from a tour e.g. where I cook, where/what food is included. I had no idea! The last concern is we didn't have heat working in our room (#208). While it was fixed right away, that is something that can be checked in between guests.

Had a blast staying here! Made lots of friends and staff were lovely. Only reason for the not 10/10 was the horrible smell from my room and the kitchen that smelt disgusting. Overall would stay again!

Nice stay for a few days. Room got hot but there were fans. Front desk gave us bear spray to borrow for free which was nice. Calm and quiet. Parking was cramped but overall loved our stay.

Hostel itself good, expensive but that's Alberta for you, especially right in the town of Banff. Only thing I didn't like was they advertise breakfast, but it's really just toast and cereal and cold bread. I was thinking there'd at least be scrambled eggs or something.

not great value at all

The hostel was in a great location but it did feel like anybody could walk straight up to your door so it didn’t feel the most secure as a solo female traveller. The kitchen also had a strange smell, particularly the walk in fridge.
