8 Mile Rock Backpacker & Bar

The host was acting a bit weird. The rooms were not really clean. The bathroom was not clean either.

Hormis le gérant de l’hostel qui était très gentil et serviable, l’hostel est très cher (20e/nuit) par rapport à la qualité proposé… douches très rudimentaires, odeur de moisi dans les chambres, mur pas fini, on dirait que tout est en travaux. Si j’avais payé 5 euros la nuit je n’aurais pas commenté. Les photos ne sont pas représentatives de la réalité malheureusement. Je ne recommande pas.

We slept in the downstairs room, which smelled of mold. Also, we found a bedbug in one of the beds. These are issues that should be handled before more people stay there. Other than that, the staff was really nice, the beds were comfortable and the location perfect! Friday is a good day to stay at this hostel, because of cheap drinks and social atmosphere.

Unfortunately I would not recommend this hostel. The host is absolutely lovely and will bend over backwards to make your stay as good as it can be. The hostel itself is just not fit for purpose, extremely outdated and unclean. We had bed bugs as did other people in a different room. They were very good in moving us to a different room and offering us a discount but I would not go back based on cleanliness and facilities alone.

Die Badezimmer sind nicht sauber und in keinem guten Zustand. Es wirkt so als würde nicht ordentlich geputzt werden. Zudem stinkt es teilweise im Flur und in den Bädern, da im 1. Geschoss nach draußen keine Tür ist und dort ein "ungepflegter" Innenhof ist. Zudem sind die Klimaanlagen nur von 17:30-8 Uhr an, was einen Aufenthalt tagsüber unangenehm macht. Die Lage ist allerdings gut und Koh Lipe ist eine wunderschöne Insel!

I wouldn‘t recommend going to this Hostel if any others are available. The owner is Kind, but there needs to be Done a Lot. It’s Not clean and there is only one shower Upstairs that 10 or even more people have to Share. There is nothing were you Can Store your stuff. If you want to have a locker, you have to buy 100 barth deposit, which is Fine. But when I was checking out, Nobody was there to give my deposit back.. there also not a big Common area, where you can meet other people.

Good location, right off the main walking street, and nice staff. Unfortunately not worth the price, only 1 shower for everyone and no hot water. Room was very basic and very very hot as aircon is only on during certain hours.

Ganz ganz ganz schlimm. Schimmel Geruch wenn du rein kommst und auch alles andere ist dreckig. Es ist vermutlich leider nur noch offen, weil in der High Season jeder etwas zum schlafen sucht. Betten sind nicht sicher, Wände wegen dem Schimmel schwarz gestrichen weil er die Aircon schon während alle schlafen ausschaltet und zum "Frühstück" gibt es an getrockneten Mango Sticks Rice. Der Betreiber war ganz nett zu mir, aber es ist leider einfach nur ekelhaft. Nimm 2 Euro mehr und lass die Airc...

Ondanks dat de eigenaar super aardig is, is het hostel echt vies. We zagen twee grote kakkerlakken, schimmel in de kamer én in de douche op het plafond.

We were 4 backpackers in the downstairs 6‑bed dorm for 3 nights. The room felt unfinished, with no locks, no luggage space, thin walls, and extremely hard styrofoam mattresses that left us sore every morning. One bunk even had nails sticking out above the bed. WiFi didn’t work at all. Staff listened but couldn’t move us as it was full. Upstairs rooms looked far better, so paying the same price felt unreasonable, price was 20e per night, not very cheap. Hopefully these issues get fixed soo...

Nice place, not very clean but clean enough. Nice people : Tom was welcoming and nice.

This hostel isn't social at all. It's just a bunk bed in the back of an old bar

it's okay, but for the price it's not clean and the toilets smell, rooms smell a little bit too.

We had an amazing time staying at 8 mile backpackers. Tom was the nicest host I’ve ever had and made the experience. Tom organised a family meal and drinks night for everyone to socialise which was lovely and it was free! It’s basic accommodation but you have everything you need.

Die Betreiber sind super sympathisch und freundlich! Wir wurden zu einem Abendessen eingeladen und sie hatten immer gute Tipps was man auf Koh Lipe entdecken kann :)

Great experience. The owner is so helpful and really nice. Overall a good hostel.

The hostel had everything you needed and Tom was a great host he invited everyone to his restaurant for dinner and drinks for free to socialise with each other the location was perfect. The only cons were one shower on each floor that wasn’t too bad a problem and the aircon is only on 6pm to 8am so it’s too hot to be in your room during the day.

A great little hostel in the centre of Koh Lipe. Tom, the owner, was fantastic. Recommended lots of things to do around the island and was always visible/present if there were any issues. A really nice guy who genuinely cares about all of his guests! Although the hostel was small the beds were comfortable and there was free tea/coffee/fruit etc. which made it good value for money. Only complaint would be that the aircon is only on from 6pm-9am and the room gets unbearably hot without it.

Gracias a Tom y su hospitalidad pasamos unas noches increíbles en la isla. Conocimos al resto de huéspedes del hostal y juntos salimos a cenar y beber. El hostal en sí está muy bien, los baños no son los mejores pero el buen trato lo compensa. Recomiendo quedaros en este hostal!

Amazing hostel with a great atmosphere. Tom was incredibly kind and welcoming, always making sure we felt at home. We even got free breakfast with cookies and bananas every morning, which was a lovely touch. On our last night, Tom invited all of the hostel to his restaurant and treated us to a free dinner — such an unforgettable experience! The hostel itself was excellent, comfortable, and well-organized. Highly recommended!
