Woolshed Eco Lodge

The place was nice… it was clean and staff were friendly, however when visiting in the summer an aircon that works all day would have been useful, the room got extremely hot in the morning when the aircon turned off and wasn’t cool throughout the day, the common area was also boiling so made it difficult when cooking meals. Nice and quiet hostel and near the beach, however not in the centre of town but easy bus (cash only!!!)

The room was over 30 degrees and the beds were very uncomfortable,- it was cooler outside than in the room and the ceiling fan was rattling all night long. The ‘shower’ was mouldy and very unhygienic and you had to lift the toilet door for it to lock. No toilet brush, fan or spray provided. There was also a sign stating “do not flush sanitary products” however there was no bin for the sanitary products or waste provided. Very few facilities to use, I saw 3 toilets and 3 showers. Although on the website it says there is aircon, there are few rooms that actually do (make sure to look close at the description of the room you are booking). Can walk to the oceanfront in about 5 ish minutes, but not much to do once there. Can't really swim in the ocean, and there is a handful of restaurants. Need to take the bus (not overly consistent) to get to the main shopping areas or other neighborhoods.

So so overpriced for what you get. It was close to the beach but nothing else. The wifi didn’t reach my room, and there was only one flimsy lock on the door handle, no other way to lock the door - felt very unsafe. They had the weirdest check in hours, and they say you can leave your stuff behind the desk but then they’ll just leave, and it’ll be locked inside so you have no way of getting it until they’re back. Many insects in the room and the showers were kinda dirty. Personal was also pretty rude.. not recommending

Fine but do not stay here if you have late transport out of Hervey Bay. Most hostels would allow you to keep your belongings there at least until reception closes, and to stay in the common areas of hostel on the day of checkout. Not possible here. Staff were nice about it but explained that the owners are strict and live onsite so watch all. Stranded in a city from 5pm-10pm on our own as young female backpackers, no advice or alternatives were given. Common issue for other guests we found. :(

If you expect to sleep, you won't, paper thin walls where you can hear EVERYTHING, from shouting at 2am outside your window and people tapping windows to English men playing robbie williams at 5.30-6am in the room next door on full blast... I wore headphones to sleep the following night which gave some relief... not the cleanest but it is a hostel and very bare minimum. Would be cheaper to stay in air b and b. Definitely won't be staying again and wouldn't recommend.

Warm dorm. Only two fans in the ceiling and they were both noisy. Beds was wobbly, slept in a top bunk and everything shaked when bottom person moved. No power outlet near your bed. Place could use a fixing hand. Feel like there are so many easy ways to fix most of these tiny issues, would make everything better. Would not stay again.

Went in with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised! Great value for money & great facilities, staff were friendly and helpful and perfect for stopping off before/after K’gari. Vibes quiet but not unpleasant and easily accessible via local bus. Overall, a great stay!

I only gave 4 stars, because I had to pay $5 for a towel. I think that is bad If it was a deposit, I would understand.

Hostel is lovely and chilled. Staff are very kind and very helpful. Only negative really is that it is about a 25-30 minute walk from supermarkets. Would stay again, lovely place.

I stayed in the double bed private room. The hostel is a 10 minute walk from the bus stop. The outdoor of the hostel is nice. There is no ambience. My biggest complaint is that there is no soundproofing between the rooms. I could hear the person next door snoring and his alarm woke me up in the morning. I would not sleep there if you are a light sleeper.

Such a great hostel, can't recommend enough! Really clean, comfy beds and really calm and peaceful atmosphere.

Stay at ecoshed was good, beds were comfy and felt safe. Sometimes because of the tin walls you could hear people moving around when they got up but otherwise slept well, not a bad location and was able to get everywhere fairly quickly. Has lots of amenities which was good and really liked that you got your own plate,bowl, cutlery and tea towel provided for you in a box. Good facilities with kitchen, Grills and kettles, really enjoyed.

I arrived at 6 AM and had informed the property in advance, but was told I wasn’t welcome until after 9 AM. With no options offered, I let myself in — not very friendly or flexible. It’s also tricky that you have to call reception when using an eSIM. Staff said they never got complaints about it. Early check-in at 10:30 AM was appreciated, and rooms were clean. Overall fine, but disappointed by the lack of understanding.

Simple but very comfortable and cozy

Pretty hostel and chill vibe. Reception is only available on call, which is useless if you use an E-sim. Besides the beach everuthing was at least 30 mins walking away. Door on private room was impossible to lock.

The private rooms here are lovely and comfortable and the shared bathrooms are clean. I slept well and would definitely stay there again. However, I would avoid the dorms in the future, there is no sounds insulation between the rooms, the beds are old and very creaky, the mattress was old and gave no support and the blanket was very itchy. Didn’t sleep well at all there unfortunately.

Nice hostel. Very clean and well run. Had a peaceful stay here.

Very basic hostel, lacked atmosphere but was clean. Only 1 washer and dryer on site. Walls were very thin and my room was facing the main road so lots of noise from traffic. Not to far from the beach. They were accommodating of a late check in and made this simple and straightforward.

Amazing. Really ECO !! I love it :) It was a nice place, with nice kitchen and yard. I visited them during whale season!

nice enough bed to sleep in and good for the overnight stay

Hostel ist eine Art Waldhütte. Mäuse in der Küche usw. gewöhnungsbedürftig. Getrennte Duschen wünschenswert.
