Desert Heart Hostel

Extremely disappointing experience, I strongly discourage it. The cleanliness of the sheets and towels is lacking, and what a surprise to find myself facing three elderly men snoring loudly and being rude all night, despite this being a youth hostel.

No pre-warning that the water was not working, we only found this out at check in late at night so could not arrange alternative accomodation. The water remained off for our stay including no flush toilets, no hand washing, no showers. No discount or refund was offered, unfortunately we arrived late after travelling but I would have cancelled and booked elsewhere if I would have known. Communal bathrooms with no flush or hand washing aren’t what I was hoping for with this stay.

Unfortunately didn‘t have a good stay here, can‘t recommend.

It doesn't feel like a Hostel. Just a few beds, doesnt seem clean at all. matress was awful, no courtains in the dorm. toilet was a bit clean. Staff was friendly but they had no clues about Cabo, or restaurants nor anything

I've stayed in a lot of hostels over the years, but none of that were quite as neglected as this one. The common areas looked like they haven't been cleaned properly in a long time, especially the bathrooms (which had those disgusting padded toilet seats from the turn of the century). The pictures may make this place seem appealing, which is why we booked, but it was instantly clear that the owner / managers were reluctant to put in any effort to maintain this hostel to a respectable standa...

A bit too pricey for the small space that is actually available (the place felt a bit claustrophobic), and the check-in process was a bit chaotic (perhaps because it was New Year's). On the other hand, amazing location right on the central street with many restaurants around!

Cool hostel in very good location, but the dorms and the bathrooms were really lacking. Quite old and dirty dorms, beds with no curtain (so no privacy) and no shelf on which to put one's belongings. Definitely overpriced.

Nice enough hostel. Rooms have no lamps for each bed making it really antisocial when people come in and turn the main light on. Also no curtains on beds!

El hostal es bonito y bien cuidado Las habitaciones están demasiado cerca de la sala de estar si alguien se despierta temprano o se va a dormir tarde despierta también. Mi habitación era bonita pero sin ventana.L’hostal es limpido

A good place to stay in central San Jose, friendly staff, clean bathrooms and showers. Common areas don‘t offer much, limited seating and dorm gets incredibly hot during the day - AC is only turned on at 8PM

Jared, and their coworkers were super kind, always willing to answer my questions!! I took the surf- Todos Santos day trip with them which was really cool, I was able to see other beach areas, the roadtrip was cool, and the company, was even better!!

I've stayed in a lot of hostels, this is one of my all time favorites. Friendliest people. Cozy. Comfortable. Perfect location. Quiet. Can't recommend enough

If you’re looking for a place in the art district at cheap cost, this is the place. The staff is lovely. Don’t expect it to be quiet and relaxing though, it’s located in a noisy and crowded street. At night, you’ll hear music so don’t forget your earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. Facilities were very basic. First, one shower for all the dorms is definitely no enough! Restrooms could use a bit of love… At least, maybe some hooks to hang towels and clothes? And the bunk beds...

This was the first hostel ever stayed at and I’m so happy it was. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, the hostel owner and all the volunteers were so kind and helpful. The location was beautiful, a short, two minute walk from the plaza with lots of convenience stores and little shops near by. I would recommend this hostel to any travellers wanting to make friends on their trip. They offered many great food and activity recommendations as well. Thank you Desert Heart Hostel! 🫶

I really loved staying at Desert Heart Hostel. Not only is it located at the heart of the historic district and so close to the Art Walk (on Thursday nights), but the hostel itself was very charming and the staff were so friendly and helpful! My favorite details include the beautiful art on the wall, the fact that they provide potable water (included), the adorable resident cat and the fact that our room had AC!! I definitely plan to stay here again the next time I visit San Jose del Cabo!

This hostel has my heart. Came to Cabo looking to learn to surf and got exactly what I hoped for. The staff is incredible and their surf excursions are a dream. 10/10 would go back. Thank you Desert Heart
