“I hadn’t planned on leaving a review, but here I am, scratching the bedbug bites that still itch day and night, even a week later. Staying silent after such an experience isn’t an option. I spent three nights in room 101, thinking I was alone, only to wake up on the last morning and discover I wasn’t. A colony of bedbugs had made itself at home on my sheets. I immediately alerted the reception, and what followed was a frantic morning of trying to salvage my belongings. Instead of enjoying my last day in the city, I spent hours disinfecting clothes and steaming items with the hotel staff, who, to their credit, were kind, helpful, and professional. But then came the real problem: the management. When I requested a refund, their response was, ‘It’s not our fault; guests bring the bedbugs.’ Whether that’s true or not, the presence of bedbugs in their sheets is their responsibility. Adding insult to injury, I later discovered that housekeeping clearly hadn’t been thorough—there were dead bedbugs behind the bed, something they could have easily spotted and addressed. Either the cleaning is completely inadequate, or they deliberately ignored the infestation. After pushing for accountability, I was offered a 50% refund. A laughable proposal, considering I spent three nights with bedbugs, not one and a half. I reminded them that beyond the inconvenience, the real risk here is far greater: taking bedbugs home. The cost of a professional exterminator to disinfect an apartment runs into the thousands. For 220 euros, the management was willing to gamble with my well-being and finances. When I suggested showing my photos to other guests so they could inspect their rooms, the situation escalated. Instead of addressing the issue, the management threatened to call the police. Yes, the police—because I dared to highlight their failure to ensure basic hygiene. Eventually, I was refunded in full, but not without unnecessary conflict and frustration.
