Bedbugs! We just attempted to check in and discovered bed bugs. One of our rental properties had a really bad case so luckily we knew what to look for. Mattresses are new, but bedbugs hang out in power sockets and bed frames as well and there were tell-tale speckles of bedbugs poo around the sockets and in the cracks of he wooden bedframe. We also found a dead one, which confirmed what we were seeing. We found a different hotel. Hopefully they have exterminated and they just haven't cleaned up yet. Beware and check not just mattresses but the frames and baseboards, power outlets, etc!
