Mad Monkey Coogee Beach

Had to change rooms because the people in my room almost hosted a whole party with all that followed. And no one in the reception at that hour ( which is totally fine, just not good in this situation, which is usually a hostel problem) of stayed at many hostels, also bigger than 12 people rooms and non have ever been this level of unrespectful.

Good location for one night, Cockroach was in reception, kitchen and bathroom is extremely small

F*** this place and f*** the staff (Antonio was good) workers are cocky and have a boys club. Then wash your toilet hours later in the morning. Roaches everywhere. Whole place designed poorly. I started recognizing the different roaches around the place. Mad monkey made no attempt to make this feel like the other mad monkeys. (Easygoing and family).

I stayed 3 nights at this hostel. The rooms were clean and the common area was nice, but there were cockroaches in the bathroom and only 4 showers for about 30 women. The fire alarm went off twice early in the morning due to staff negligence, forcing evacuation with no explanation. Staff was unhelpful, and a T-shirt I left was donated within 15 days. Very unpleasant experience.

Nicht das Geld wert… keine Klimaanlage, nur kleine Fenster die kaum zu öffnen sind somit ist es durchgängig stickig im Zimmer, Betten die bei jeder Bewegung wackeln und keine Vorhänge haben, auch der Ventilator ist gefährlich nah am Bett, sodass man jedes Mal wenn man im Bett aufrecht sitzt aufpassen muss nicht erschlagen zu werden, generell ist das Hostel sehr heruntergekommen und hat viel zu wenig Platz für die Anzahl der Leute. Kein Platz um Taschen abzustellen.

No attention to detail, you have to download an app to enter the hostel. Bathroom has a constant wet floor

Horrible I would not recommend

Dirty. Cockroaches in the kitchen and the staff doesn’t care. Dorms are super hot at night. We had to sleep with the door open to the street. Bathroom facilities are tight and moldy. Bedsheets are actually the same ones from when I stayed there 10 years ago. Almost everyone there is a 18-24yr old from the UK on a working holiday visa. If you aren’t that, it’s not social. Leaves much to be desired.

Situé au 3e étage sans ascenseur et personne pour vous aider à monter votre valise. Les chambres des dortoirs sont très rudimentaires, les draps et coussin sont de très mauvaise qualité et semblent dater d’une décennie. Pas de casier à disposition gratuitement dans la chambre (des lockers il y’en a oui, mais payants bien évidemment). Mauvais rapport qualité prix. Je ne reviendrais pas.

if I could give 0 I would. I have stayed at a lot of hostels but never felt so disappointed. The amount of cockroaches in this hostel is vile if it wasn't for the fact our friend was staying in an apartment 2 mins away for us to use her facilities we would have left straight away! There were cockroaches in the showers, kitchen work tops and balcony, it made us feel sick the basic level of cleanliness was not there!!! Please avoid not worth the money we paid!!!

If you’re brit, congrats! You’ve found the place for you. If you’re not, run - it’s all brits and they are super cliquey… you come all the way to aus only to feel like you’re in Brighton (?) shoutout to the girl in my room tho she was a sweetheart Other than this, location is perfect! Keep in mind that you’ll have to climb 3 floors with your suitcase tho, wouldn’t have done it again I think Cleanness is also good

This is my favourite hostel in Sydney! Such a brilliant location right by the beach, plus the staff are really on it with keeping the common areas clean. All the staff are very welcoming, and special thanks to Taty for being really helpful with extending my stay here, and to Ian for helping me with my bags and answering any questions I had.

Poor for the price

I had a very good time at Mad Monkey. The hostel has a chill atmosphere with cool people. The staff was really friendly, especially Erin was super nice!! Can definitely recommend!

Had a fantastic stay at this hostel! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and everything was clean and well-organized. A special thank you to Taty, who was incredibly kind, helpful, and made the whole experience even better with her positive energy. Highly recommend staying here!

Great stay at Mad Monkey Coogee Beach! The location is amazing and the vibe is super friendly and social. A big shoutout to Ian Corry he was really helpful on shift and always approachable. When he cleaned the rooms, you could tell the job was done right everything was spotless. Would definitely recommend!

I had a great stay here. The location is unreal right by the beach and the atmosphere is social and welcoming. The Staff really make the place though, especially Anna and Erin who were both amazing, friendly and always helpful.

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at. The location is remarkable and all of the staff members make it ever better. It’s clean and the rooms are in good condition. Great hostel

Location was amazing and the staff/people were so lovely & friendly. Not many toilets or showers for so many people (especially when they closed half of them while I was there) and not in the best condition.

Lovely place and people. Staff were very nice, especially Antonio and Mads were so welcoming and kind. Would definitely book again and recommend strongly to anyone going to Sydney!

Whilst there were some downsides to the hostels, Mad Monkey definitely had far more upsides. I have never stayed in a Hostel so friendly and sociable and have made many friends and memories during my stay. If you love to drink, the location is perfect being placed right next to some good pubs and bottleo’s and only a 30 minute bus ride away from Central so night life is only around the corner.
