YoLo Pool Bar Villas

The transfer from the center of the town to the hostel at 4am is definitely appreciated and the highlight. However, there is nothing remarkable about the dorm and it is about 2km far from the main bits in town. I found out that even if they advertise breakfast in their tags, description and hostel conditions in any booking, it is not included in the "standard" option.

The hostel is ok to sleep. The owner organized a shuttle from Dong Hoi which scammed us. We rent motorbikes which were the most damaged and unreliable you can find for a price of 150k (It's 120k for good ones in other rentals). In the final payment she did not take the Hostelworld pre-payment into account, so we paid the full price. She's also not reliable regarding organisation, you always have to ask 5 times and if you won't it will not work.

We were the only people there (probably because of Tet but other hostels were busy). Very understaffed there was just an elderly lady who was nice but didn’t speak any English which made communication difficult- check in was very confusing she took us to the wrong room and didn’t look at our booking. Once we left they called us trying to charge us for what we thought was a basket of free food and beer left in the fridge that wasn’t even ours.

Unfortunately we were the only guests in the entire hostel. Phong nha is not a super busy place during the wet season so we were alone here. Everyone seemed to stay at Central backpackers. The pool is nice and the staff were friendly but as we were the only people it was difficult to find the staff overall. In dry season might be much better though. The bathrooms are super hot too as it’s just an open hole to the outside.

De eigenaar meerdere malen ruzie zien maken met mede backpackers. Wilde borg niet teruggeven of liet mensen voor ontbijt betalen terwijl het gratis zou zijn. Personeel spreekt amper Engels en hierdoor heb je geen idee of alles goed geregeld is. Eigenaren lijken maar wat te doen. Verder wel schoon en de bedden en kamers zijn prima. Ligt redelijk centraal.

The location is great, a bit of a walk from the town centre but on a beautiful stretch of the river. The beds are comfortable with a nice en-suite bathroom in the dorm. Pick up and drop off to the bus stop were great. However, the air conditioning barely functioned, the room and communal areas weren’t as clean as I’d expect and there is not much in the way of security. There is no social atmosphere.

It’s a new hostel so seems like they’re working things out. A common issue is 24/7 reception isn’t the case, as a solo traveler sleeping outside is spooky so make sure you’ve clearly agreed on timings, (though I did do this 🤷‍♀️) and if nobody is there the family sleeps downstairs so will hear if you knock loudly! I hope this issue is worked out as rest of hostel is good.

Despite the number on the rating I actually really liked the hostel. It was however quite a walk away from where the bus dropped us off and where most things were so that was inconvenient. There were also not enough outlets for all the people in the room, or not enough near the beds so people couldn’t charge there stuff at the same time. Also, only small lockers to lock up valuables and no keys for the rooms. Very low-tech and relaxed. The town is relaxed as well. The bed was very comfy though...

Really lovely stay! Staff was super kind and helpful! You can rent a bike for 150k per day and go explore the caves. The dorm beds were pretty spacious and the bathroom was clean. Only thing was that you don’t get a duvet cover and that the bathroom was a bit smelly on the first two days.

Scenery in the whole area is spectacular, this hostel is set along the river and is beautiful. Du is an excellent host, very accommodating and the cave tour he suggests to ruc mon, though slightly more expensive is certainly worth the money and one of my favourite experiences on my trip. Swimming pool is also great.

Lovely clean hostel with nice rooms. Really enjoyed our stay here it’s just a 20 min walk to where the main strip of restaurants is - however they do offer bike rental

Overall good hostel.

Would definitely recommend staying here. The owner & staff are the loveliest people we have ever met, so helpful & kind. We rented motorbikes for a good price. Hostel is in a great location & has a lovely pool. Rooms are clean & comfortable.

Amazing hostel with the most attentive and helpful staff! Highly recommend!
