Hostel needs a lot of work in many ways

Terrible hostel

Avoid like the plague. Smelliest, dirtiest, coldest and most unfriendly place I’ve ever had the misfortune of staying in. The kitchen and common areas smelt like a hoard of rats had died in it. The room was freezing cold (they attempted to draft-proof the window frame with masking tape), handle didn’t work, electricity worked some times. Please, just book somewhere else.

Prob the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. construction in the entrance is straight up precarious and uninviting, also no lock on the front door. Dirty, small bathrooms. The staff is made up of unemployed volunteers who want free accomm. They’re rude & more concerned with sitting around on their phones with each other than helping people who actually pay to be there. Also one of the staff was sexually abrasive with a guest, just overall bad experience, get what u pay for I guess

Horrible! horrible!! The building is under construction and looks like a crack house, there is a MAJOR lack of cleaning - someone throw up in the bathroom and it was cleaned more then a day later, no toilet paper ever. There are 2 toilets, 2 showers and 1 toilet & shower when one of the toilets doesn't lock so you get the pleasure of seeing drunk adults pee with a door wide open, no one is flushing the toilet And the shower&toilet is always open because they use water from it in the cons

Regrettably and disappointing. The overall standard of hygiene was profoundly lacking. I found myself compelled to sleep in multiple layers of clothing, simply to avoid direct contact with the bed, which I found rather unsettling. Every surface was unpleasantly sticky, and the air throughout the premises carried a stale, disagreeable odour. The bedsheets appeared visibly aged and quite far from fresh. I daresay, this shall be my first and final visit here.

Bathrooms were dirty and smelled terrible. Reception staff were not welcoming and when I asked them questions, they looked not happy with the exception of the staff that helped me with check out, he was very kind. Finally, it says quiet hours start at 11, but there is a lot of noise until 12-1 am easily. Excellent location but not worth the money unfortunately.

terrible experience

Only writing this because I am covered in bed bug bites 😂 their cleaning system seemed a bit questionable, evidently because of the bed bugs. They also give you a key which is useless because none of the dorms lock and the choice of bed is a bit of a free for all.

Actually really liked it. The employee was nice, the beds were clean, bathroom is clean. The outside is still being renovated though. Also there are no curtains on the beds only a wall plug per bed.

The hostel is in a great location and quite clean, except the ants in the kitchen… The staff was friendly and helpful!

Superbe hostel. Les chambres sont propres, les espaces communs aussi. Tous les soirs des activités sont organisées, il est donc facile de faire connaissance avec d’autres voyageurs. Les tarifs du bars sont avantageux et il y a toujours quelqu'un à l’accueil si besoin. Je recommande !

There were no soap in the washroom and the place was under comstruction.

this place is decent and clean enough, social & good location but everything here is a little harder than it needs to be, ex: light turns off every 2 seconds on the toilet, soap dispenser falls off when you press it. at some point the medieval thing stops being an aesthetic and it's like...the paint is just peeling off the wall. also some of volunteers are not particularly friendly, i saw one ignore a guy who asked her name, she pretended not to speak french. i heard her speak french right after

There was maintenance ongoing - which meant the main door into the dorms was never closed/locked. Felt unsafe for your property. Cleanliness was low - you could see staff cleaning daily in the toilets etc, but just the general state of the building was falling apart, paint off the walls, walls of the bedrooms dirty, I found used tissues down the side of my bed, the kitchen wasn’t clean. Wir fanden es sehr schön im Hostel. Durch die Aktionen, die vom Hostel geplant werden, kann man leicht Leute kennenlernen, aber im Zimmer war es trotzdem ruhig und es war überall sauber. Die Mitarbeiterinnen waren alle nett und haben einem immer gerne geholfen. Die 20€ für den Pubcrawl sind relativ viel, auch wenn man etwas Alkohol umsonst bekommt. Wir können es insgesamt sehr empfehlen! :)

Solid budget accommodation located in Tallinn Old Town — for €30 a night for a private room, I can’t complain. As a solo traveller, it’s easy to connect with others. The staff and volunteers are friendly and keen to engage with guests. Would stay here again if back in Tallinn.

My stay at the Monks Bunk hostel was the best experience ever! The staff was so kind and welcoming, Djeynah, Taina, Pierre, Sofia, Fernando, and Jody, were definitely the highlight of this hostel, they welcome every guest with open arms and take high responsibility in their work ethic. I loved this hostel, and I will definitely be looking to go back very soon!

Hostel in old town with very nice staff and social area. Only let down is no curtains on the dorm beds. Otherwise perfect stay

The entrance it self is a disaster..dirt is everywhere Rooms are really old and dirty..beds are full of bugs and stuff. Toilets are cleaner than the rooms honestly. Overall not a pleasant stay they can do better.

Amazing staff, great location good vibes would stay again

In a great location and really clean. They put a lot of effort into creating a friendly atmosphere and the hostel group chat was great for coordination. The facilities were good and there were plenty of showers and toilets which was great.

Super friendly staff and multiple events being hosted !! The beds and bathrooms were really clean and there is a lot of them so waiting was never an issue. It is a social hostel and the staff get really involved but even when I did want to go to bed, I couldn’t hear anything from the room. Luggage storage was free and they can do your washing for you for 10€.
