Area felt pretty unsafe. Staff was rude and difficult to approach. Was no storage for large bags. Was so dissatisfied that ended up walking out, and staying elsewhere.
I have stayed in this hostel before. 2. Although I made a reservation to get up once, the officer comes and kicks me out at 4:00 in the morning before check-in, that is, when there are 3-4 hours. You can't wait here. He fires you by saying that it's time to go and come back. They don't care about the service, quality and behavior towards the guest. It's definitely not worth staying and going.
I got charged 4 days before my check in date, even though I was a "No show"
Poor quality kitchen without usable pots, pans or plates. No ability to wash clothes, dirty floors and the shower has bars of hairy soap piled on the floor. The blanket seems to never have been cleaned and smells. No air conditioning but there is an old broken AC with something dried runoff. It appears to be run by a slum Lord with few improvements. Not a friendly atmosphere. Low income projects across the street you have to pass to the grocery store. Seems very dangerous.
Never had such a bad experience with staff. Nobody said a word, even a hi was too much. Got no explanation when checking in, just got the key and thats it. Checked out after one night as I couldnt sleep from all the noise from other guests the whole night, although I had paid for 4 more nights, lost a lot of money but it was worth it to get out of there. Its just obvious the staff just doesnt care about anything. Not worth the money.
I know that New York is an expensive city, and you get what you pay for. But comparing this hostel to others I stayed in whilst in Boston and Philadelphia, I was very surprised by the lack of facilities ( for example, just one microwavable bowl in the kitchen, sofas that felt like something out of a haunted house, and a shower that looked like it had last been cleaned in 1999). There was no security to get into the hostel, only keys to our dorm rooms. The area did not feel safe. Never again.
As one of the few hostels in New York, I think it’s very pricy for basic service such as a bed. It’s close to two metro stations and neighborhood is relatively safe. When I arrived at the hostel, the guy at the reception told me he’d eventually have to reallocate me in a different room on my 4th day, and that I’d have to check out at 11am and then check in again for the new room at 4pm, which I considerert terribly disrespectful since I paid for my whole stay. Fortunately it didn’t hap...
Hostel is located in a bad area. Don't feel safe at night walking down Bushwick or Moore streets to get to subway. Rooms barely meet needs and I don't recommend the hostel. Stay in Queens, much much better area.
Not much in the way of facilities, location not ideal to get to as most of area is unlit at night overall enjoyed my stay
Loved the private rooms and bathrooms, although our faucet was hard to turn on and took a long time for hot water. Our primary complaint is we were assigned a room in the courtyard and this week they were welding and doing dangerous construction project from 7 am to after 7 pm that was so incredibly loud and dangerous- we were afraid to leave our rooms. I'm assuming they the hostel schedule this so fail to understand why we were put back there. I complained by email and three times to staff.

unfortunately it was hard to connect with other travellers, as the other guests were mostly old, weird men, who were from new york, so it was quite hard to connect with others. A bit unfortunate if you’re travelling solo and as a girl. The staff was really nice, and the hostel itself as well, but the vibe was off/ not existent due to aforementioned group of guests
The only place I stay while traveling through NYC
First time in New York City, best place to stay! Awesome staff! I’ll definitely come back!
Eh. Just dirty and old and the facilities aren’t conducive to a fun or clean environment.
Couldn’t shower before I left because someone was in there for an hour and a half. Only 1 bathroom per room. Ours was gross. Linen smelt strange. No assigned beds. If you’re looking to meet people, don’t go here, if you just need a bed, sure. Cheap, and the price shows.
They have upgraded my booking from 6 beds dorm to 4 beds dorm for free, big and comfortable beds, clean sheets, 9 min away of the subway (Montrose station), very friendly and helpful staff, they have a big kitchen, play room, work station, coffee area, and nice lounge with big shelf of books. I felt very safe as a solo female traveler and very comfortable.
Love this Hostel. Best one in New York.
hostel so clean so inviting, comfortable. all good things
Great job all around

The accommodation is amazing—great location and very clean. If you’re coming to New York, I highly recommend this place. I would definitely stay here again. Congratulations to the team for keeping everything so well organized. It’s also very conveniently located, just a few steps from the subway.
New York Moore is a great place to say in a residential Brooklyn neighborhood. It's a few blocks from the subway so getting into Manhattan takes about 20 minutes. Unlike other hostels you get a bed to yourself, not a stacked bunkbed. There's a shared kitchen and plenty of common areas to plug in and connect your laptop. The graffiti decor makes you feel like you're in New York. Lots of international visitors.
Gets the job done
Good hostel in a nice neighborhood of NYC. Two subway lines that allow you to reach other neighborhoods very quickly and easily. The hostel does not necessarily allow meetings and the corner lounge is not necessarily very used. The rooms are clean and cleaned regularly.
I HAD A WONDERFUL STAY FOR MY FIRST TIME IN NY--THAT WAS MAINLY BECAUSE OF THIS HOSTEL--CLOSE TO EVERYTHING--PLUS THE HOSTEL IS STACKED WITH GOODS AND SERVICES AND FREE COMEDY AND BEER ON WEDNESDAY. THANKS MOORE ST HOSTEL FOR AN AMAZING SAFE AND AFFORDABLE STAY IN NEW YORK
Tres is well located 5min from subway line L and 20/30 min from downtown Manhattan. Cafe at will every morning. Kitchen and fridges accessible to prepare a meal in the evening. Near a supermarket not too expensive for nyc. Mattresses ok. A not too expensive and practical solution for nyc. I recommend !
Nice hostel. Quiet, but not too out of the way. Staff were helpful, everything seemed clean and it’s a good space. Would stay there again.

"Cleaning up after yourself" does not always work. Try making the cleaning supplies more available, especially in the kitchen. More people do remote work so more space for online connection with personal equipment could be helpful. Right now I am sitting in the coffee nook having to listen to someone on a zoom call without headphones. 😑Otherwise, this is a great place.
I enjoyed my stay there and felt safe.
