The hostel was really really dirty, and the staff were not nice. Even though the location is good, I don’t think its worth it.
Maybe paying actual cleaners to clean wouldn’t be such a terrible idea. Hostel is dirty as hell.
Al llegar, nos recibieron dos voluntarias que no hablaban español; por suerte, pude comunicarme en inglés. La limpieza era deficiente: cocina desordenada, basuras rotas, frigoríficos llenos y sin organización, además de cucarachas. When we arrived, we were greeted by two volunteers who did not speak Spanish; luckily, I was able to communicate in English. The cleanliness was poor: disorderly kitchen, broken garbage, full and unorganized refrigerators, plus cockroaches. The toilets, cleaned from above, were almost always dirty and smelly; a broken faucet leaked water and no one noticed. The place is neglected because it is cleaned by the volunteers themselves. The only good thing is, that the hostel is Good located. But it’s dirty, it’s noisy (because of a construction), to less & to small & to messy bathrooms, and bugs in the kitchen. The staff members are smoking weed all the time. Worst hostel ever! Never again!
The hostel has noisy pin-code locks, no privacy (beds lack curtains), poorly constructed bunks (very noisy), and hygiene issues, including insects in the kitchen. Das Hostel hat Potential, jedoch sollte einiges verbessert werden. In der Küche herrscht ein Ungezieferproblem (Ameisen, Kakerlaken); die Türen zu den Schlafzimmern sind nur per Code gesichert, wobei nicht sicher ist wie oft dieser gewechselt wird, außerdem gibt das Eingeben des Codes laute Piepgeräusche von sich (auch nachts) & die Wände im Zimmer sind schmutzig (Erbrochenes oder ähnliches). Positiv war, dass die Sanitäranlagen oft geputzt wurden und der Staff sehr hilfsbereit war.
The kitchen has a pest problem (Ants, Cockroaches); the doors to the bedrooms are secured only by a code, although it is not certain how often this is changed, in addition the Entry of the Codes gives a loud Piepgeräusche of itself (even at night) & the walls in the Zimmer sind schmutzig (Erbrochenes or similar).
This was by far the worst hostel.Bed bugs in the room and the shared bathrooms were not clean, the daily clean was a quick wipe with a mop. Our main issue was with the staff there was nobody in charge. On our second night's stay there was partying until 1 am, although it was advertised no noise after 11. When we complained we got the cold shoulder from staff for the rest of our stay.
Des punaises de lit en chambre individuelle... Pas top ! Établissement à la propreté douteuse. Certes, l'équipe est plutôt sympathique. Mais si j'avais su pour les punaises de lit notamment, jamais je n'y aurais réservé 5 nuits d'affilée... Je m'en suis d'ailleurs échappée pour ma dernière nuit, et j'ai bien fait ! 🙂
Bed bugs in single room... Not top ! establishment with questionable cleanliness. admittedly, the team is rather friendly. but if i had known about bed bugs in particular, i would never have booked 5 nights in a row... i actually escaped for my last night, and i did well ! 🙂
Bagni in condizioni oscene , letto al terzo piano trooopo alto un disagio, pericoloso , poi di notte ! Poi per il resto manutenzione assente l’hostelllo cade a pezzi , scale sugne zozze , terrazza decadente , il trebiccolo di legno a momenti cade in testa , come la grande rete per sedersi è distrutta , dimenticavo la puzza di piscio a dir poco sconvolgente , bagli al piano zero la mia camera al 3 , disagio assoluto , gli spazi sono organizzati malissimo e la tipica casa Canaria non è va...
Then for the rest maintenance absentee the hostel falls to pieces, the scale sugnes zozze, the terrace decadent, the trebiccolo di legno at moments falls in the head, as the big net per sedersi is destroyed, I forgot the smell of piscio a dir poco sconvolgente, bagli al piano zero my camera al 3 , absolute discomfort, the spaces are organized badissimo and the typical Canarian house is not valorizato

The lock code on the girls room did not work and despite reporting, staff did not fix this. We had to climb through the window to enter. The Dutch guy and the English guy were helpful and friendly,but the vibe was off with some of the staff. Also the top bunk on the beds did not have any railings which felt unsafe. We had to wait an hour for towels as they hadn't been cleaned. Location was great though and toilets cleaned often. There could have been more activities for travellers to meet

Location and facilities were great! Very nice rooftop and the rooms were also sufficient. In general everyone was very friendly too which was great! Only remark I have is perhaps the atmosphere of the rooftop got taken over by the volunteers in some instances. Some of them used it more to smoke (weed) and hang out a lot of the time which isn’t very inviting for some. I also expected (as per the website) that there would be more activities that would be organised, but this was not the case.
The pictures do not reflect reality. The volunteers were partying all night, so if you don't want to sleep, this is the place for you. The volunteers smoked nothing but cigarettes and the whole place smelled bad/sweet. Cockroaches in the common areas. I do not recommend the place. The hostel was more for volunteers than for paying customers.
La recepcionista era Alicia, muy simpática y atenta. Estuve una sola noche, pero la cama super cómoda y había ambiente para quien quisiera.Sin duda repetiría.
The receptionist was Alicia, very friendly and attentive. i stayed only one night, but the bed was super comfortable and there was atmosphere for whoever wanted. i would definitely repeat.
The hostel is very social and I met lots of great people. It's located in the beautiful old town of Vegueta and is very well connected to the island's bus network. It takes a maximum of one hour to get to the south on the Global buses. The rooms are nice, the beds are relatively large, and you can lock your room. Volunteers also regularly organize activities, which is a great way to connect with other guests. I would definitely stay at this hostel again. :)
Me quedé 2 noches alli con mi pareja, el chico italiano de la recepción fue de lo mas amable y gentil, la habitación grande limpia, los baños no tanto eso podría mejorar, las zonas sociales geniales, es organizado y me senti en un lugar seguro. Si me volveria a quedar alli
I stayed 2 nights there with my partner, the Italian guy at the reception was most kind and kind, the room was large and clean, the bathrooms not much that could be improved, the social areas great, it's organized and I felt safe.
+ Super Social, not too dirty speaking of hostel standards, good vibe - Ventilation: there are private rooms and dorms without windows to get fresh air.(although it seems like it on the pictures but their are actually facing the indoor common area). Moreover, the AC seems to be connected to the rooftop terasse and kitchen downstairs leading to the AC (only source of fresh air in theory) blowing cigarette smoke and kitchen smell into your room. Don’t know why you‘d even rent out such a room!

Da fuori non c’é nemmeno un’insegna e fai fatica a identificare il portone ! La camera era sporchissima ,sia le coperte che i cuscini .spesso alcuni bagni erano rotti o intesati .la prima notte non sono riuscito a dormire perché molti ragazzi facevano schiamazzi oltre l’orario consentito .
From the outside there was not even a sign and you can hardly identify the gate! the camera was very dirty, neither the blankets nor the cushions .often some bathrooms were broken or stuffed .the first night I couldn't sleep because many guys were screaming over the agreed time.
One of the best hostel experiences!! We got the private room though because it was almost the same price since we were 2 people. Lots of activities, great facilities and cozy rooftop. Only thing that the floor in our room was quite dirty and the bathroom on our floor was full of mold. The showers downstairs were in good condition though! The location is perfect, in the middle of old town with good connections. The most we appreciated the good vibes & super friendly guests and staff! 🙏🏼🎀
It was an amazing hostel with a great staff! I loved it there. The only bad thing was that the showers water was only warm at a few times per day. I would recommend.

Out of all the hostels on the island i always tried to come back to Columbus, I hostel hopped all of them. If you are coming to Gran Canaria do yourself the favor and just book your entire stay here (in advance, if you dont you end up hostel-hopping like me :-) the vibe here is the most chill, the rooftop is the nicest, the people have the general same chill vibe, and the Volunteers are all cool too 👌 specifically Geoffroy
Great place highly recommend for any backpacker
