Baan Mai Kradan Hostel Chiang Rai

Hostel messed up my booking which meant I had to change rooms halfway through my stay, which isn’t a huge deal but hostel lady was really rude about it and wasn’t very accommodating with making me check in/check out even though I had booked two nights. On the surface the hostel is nice. But a lot of the wood in the bathroom just made it attractive for mosquitos as it was damp. Breakfast was just boiled eggs and bread. More variety would be better.

Staff were rude and unsocial, whole vibe of the hostel was off. Everything seemed to be a problem from the moment my friend and I arrived. Wouldn’t recommend to anybody who just wants a casual conversation with anybody.

The hostel was nice but the lockers are not very secure. They can be pried open even with a lock on. I walked in and found a lady from the cleaning staff sticking her hand into my locker and attempting to steal money. Not a great experience and when I reported it she was not fired and is still working for them. So if you stay here be sure to lock up everything as much as possible and take your valuables with you when you go out.

The hostel was great to stay for two night before going on our trip to Laos. The hostel got great reviews a couple of years ago, and we feel like it needs some renovations/new energy. Bathrooms were fine but smelly, facilities ok but not great.

It’s a very nice place. Staff was super nice but I probably wouldn’t go back. My dorm didn’t have a window, they were however not able to change me to a different room when I asked them. It’s also not very sociable :/ At least they were able to partialy refund me 2 nights when I wanted to check out earlier.

Not a very special hostel, no activities and the personal were a little bit rude. If you want to go by yourself it’s okay but if you want to meet people it’s kinda hard to.

It was ok. No social atmosphere, the breakfast was a bit odd, but free. Some staff seemed friendly, some didn’t really care. My main issue is why is everything see through?! you can see straight through the bed curtains when your bed light is on, there’s a frosted window to the hallway so the hall light is in your room all night and the showers are lacking privacy. Also the light switch being the opposite end of the bed to the plug is weird. Cute kitten, though.

Beautiful place, very clean and comfortable beds but there is zero vibe, no social aspect and feels very cold

Not a social hostel but still a good, mature crowd overall. Very aesthetic setting. Giving this a low rating because I couldn't sleep here due to bed bugs

This is the nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed in! It was so nice and so clean and I felt like I was in a resort. The staff were great. The only thing is it wasn’t social. This place is perfect if you need a break from the chaos or just stopping in Rai for the night.

Such lovely staff and super clean. Comfy beds, great social spaces and close to everything.

Amazing hostel! Can recommend it wholeheartedly. The architecture of the hostel is beautiful, and the guests are very open-minded and social, perfect to meet new people. The staff offer plenty advice about activities in Chiang Rai. Only non-positive thing I can think of is the breakfast, it is simple but still does the job

Super comfy beds. Bathrooms and dorms were cleaned daily. Communal areas were really good and good location

Je conseille cette auberge ! Petit dej compris, chambres et douches très propres et les parties communes sont très agréables ! Il y a plusieurs espaces différents et un extérieur.

The rooms are nice and the beda super comfortable. Bathrooms were clean. The hostel has many common areas you can sit at. Location is perfect!

Sehr schönes Hostel mit angenehmen Schlafsälen. Der Außenbereich ist ist schön gestaltet und angenehm zum Hinsetzen. Leider war das Personal sehr unfreundlich und patzig. Das Frühstück bestand aus Salat, Eiern und Toast.

Staff were very helpful!! It’s in a very good location too. One thing though is that the shower doors in the women’s bathroom are essentially see through. They’re frosted but you can see all colours and movements through it. And the main doors to the bathroom and dorms are sliding and not lockable which made me feel a bit weird and unsafe, as someone cause leave the toilet door open and see in! This is honestly a lovely hostel, very modern and very clean and i absolutely would stay here again. Unfortunately the curtains in the dorms are entirely see through. Not social at all but chill vibe. I only stayed here the night before my border crossing so I can’t say much about the location regarding activities.

Fantastic hostel!

We just spent two nights here and it was really good. The free breakfast was okay. The bathroom was good and clean, but we ran out of toilet paper quite often. The beds were comfortable but the curtain was see through.

Breakfast was great. Rooms were clean. Let us leave our bag for a while.

Nice chill hostel, perfect place to relax before the slow boat and includes a nice breakfast.

I really enjoyed my stay here overall, however my pillow had a yellow stain on it and the bathrooms smelled bad. When I told the front desk they weren’t that helpful nor did they apologize they gave me a new pillow but were a bit dismissive.

It was a nice and very clean Hostel. Everything looked very new and modern. Unfortunately the commonroom closed at 9pm. But it was a nice area to stay, especially the garden. We also liked the breakfast.

The hostel was just beautiful! super clean, best beds in thailand, super friendly stuff, free breakfast, free coffee. By far the best price/value hostel I stayed in. Not very social to be fair, which was fine for me.

Great hostel. Great atmosphere. I don’t often stay at hostels anymore, but this one was exceptional. A good community and place for an introduction to Chiang rai.
